Why don't Special Forces exclusively use battle rifles instead of assault rifles?
>Assault rifles have lighter ammo
Special Forces are stronger than normal soldiers
>Assault rifles are easier to spray & pray with
Special Forces can aim better, so use less ammo.
>>29501065
are you fucking serious?
is this bait
>>29501065
The assault rifle concept is superior to the battle rifle concept. The increase in rounds carried by assault rifle users is only enhanced by the better training of SF forces. Just face it dude, your battle rifles are obsolete.

This has to be bait

>Special Forces are stronger than normal soldiers
>Special Forces can aim better, so use less ammo
Special Forces soldiers are people too buddy. Their ability to carry weight and shoot varies from one soldier to the next. There are regular infantry soldiers that are more capable than some SF guys at both of those right now.
Also,
>Special Forces
>excluding CAG, SEALs, Rangers, Marine Raiders, SAD, etc. etc.
>>29501643
>Regular soldier
>Stronger than special forces
Uh huh. So why didn't they join special forces?
>>29501657

>Special Forces are stronger than normal soldiers
>Special Forces can aim better, so use less ammo.
Wrong on both counts there champ, some of the strongest men in the Military are in support units that have a lot of free time to train. Being SF does not miraculously increase your aim, you pulled that one out your ass.
>>29501657
Because strength isn't even close to all of it you cunt
>>29501657
Maybe because they didn't want to for any number of reasons.
You do realize that SF is just one single unit in the army right?
>>29501664
>Implying Special Forces doesn't shoot better than the barely conscript tier-Army.
I'll give you that the Marines have higher standards and use less ammo. That's why they stuck with long barreled M16s to get better accuracy, even if they were forced to use underpowered bullets.
>>29501657
>SF soldiers are the strongest in the entire military
This is retarded. SF has shit to do man. They've got plenty of ruck marching, airborne knee crushing, and starvation training to hold them back from being in the best condition they could be.

Everything just screams 14 year old, op.

>barely conscript tier-Army
Uh, Rangers and other SOF guys go to regular army Sniper School just like everyone else. Trust me, the instructors there are better shots than the students.
>>29501747
Rangers aren't special forces, they are just infantry with a bigger budget.
>>29501735
That's not a European term at all.
>>29501763
Read:
>and other SOF
This includes your precious Green Berets.
>>29501187
>can't even change pistol grips
>>29501778
Marines are able to shoot as good without having to go to a special school. Rangers do the same thing as marines, but waste more money to do it.
>>29501065
No matter how strong or how awesome you are, a lighter weapon with higher capacity is going to be a benefit, especially if you're a good shot. If anything, front line troops should run battle rifles and SF should run assault rifles.

Anything light would be a blessing when you are dicking around the mountains of Pakistan, I have never heard anyone in the military wish they had more weight when rucking.
>>29501800
Normal troops need more bullets because their tactics are spray & pray though.
>>29501065
I know you're completely oblivious to the realities of the army, but I'm gonna let you in on something anyway. There are a shitload of dudes with long tabs out there that are less than impressive.

>>29501924
Funny how Special Forces never go on to be Olympians or strongmen then isn't it?
By that logic they should use bolt action rifles.
>>29501934
>What is OPSEC
>>29501931
No, wait, it gets better:
>>29501924
>>29501065
OP is right though. Space Marines have strength 4 so they can carry bolters which are superior to the lasguns that IG carry, since they are only strength 3.
Also, veterans have higher ballistic skill (4 compared to 3 of normal guardsmen) so it is more points efficient to equip them with higher numbers of special weapons such as plasma guns and meltaguns since they will hit on 3+ for each d6 instead of 4+.
This is also how real life works. Keep doing the Emperor's work OP.

Seriously, Jaws has better understanding of how the military works than you do.

Assault rifles have faster ADS time, better ADS mobility and hipfire dispersion, they are better suited for close combat.

Haven't unlocked SCAR in CoD Black Ops III yet... :(((
It's not how you think it is... In El Salvador for example, we werent allowed to have ANY rifle period when the first 55 SF setup shop. We had a .45. Then they said, OK you can have MP5's. I had an MP5SD5 which I LOVED. The CONgress was actually afraid of the population then and memories of the Viet Namn conflict were fresh in the left's mind so they were desparate to NOT allow their best soldiers to be seen carrying the iconic m-16 in a green jungle... So I bought a G3 (EL salvador has open air arms markets with rifles stacked like cord wood, grenades stacked like apples for sale to anyone,Jooo arms dealers made a fortune there... the whole shitty country is a giant arms dump), OP point is taken though- a "battle rifle" is generally a far superior weapon for most combat infantry uses than a carbine. SF groups in sand box often carried the new 77 grain cartridge in Sandbox operations but it's still no .308..
The FMLN had plenty of M-16A1's though... wonder where they got'em? I'm sure I woulda loved to carry a CAR16 just for the cool factor... but ballistics were terrible then and not that much better now. I still question the logic of such weak cartridge, especially for big army...

They have their choice but they rarely agree.
Between US groups, the East and West coasts and all the little clubs they form have wildly different opinions.
The SCAR's selector switch kept fluctuating back and forth between 45-90 degree throw just to please one small segment of the groups.
>/k/ doesn't realize it's spring break right now.
