What a fucking man.
Honor is rare nowadays and I have the utmost respect for this man.

he died so this world could be a better place with a few less jihadist scum
>>
>>29500997
I would have done the same.

If I knew Id be tortured and paraded around I would have gladly died in a blaze of glory.

Being dead and destroying the enemy is preferrable to being locked in a cage in an orange jumpsuit and burned alive.

Obviously its easy for me to say that now but I think he was absolutely justified and that hopefully his son will grow up knowing his dad was a fucking hero

Think about it.

ISIS loves to torture the shit out of anyone that goes against them, and holy shit would they love to get their hands on a Russian / American soldier.

Either you order an airstrike on your position, and die a quick death,

or,

You're captured, tortured for days and then executed in some fucked up fashion, while being filmed.

I'd rather not have some sand-nigger piece of shit tearing my molars out while I wish for death.

Honestly, getting blown the fuck up was the best way to go, for that poor soul.

Yeah, calling in an air strike on his own position isn't what I question. It's the fucking speech he made.

People who are about to die generally don't do that. They may say goodbye to their families, but they don't go on about patriotism or honoring the uniform. That is some retard-level propaganda.

If you get captured by ISIS its not IF you are going to die but HOW.

If you are lucky they might just shoot you on the spot.

But this guy was SF. They knew that he had important intel. He would have been tortured like a motherfucker and he knew it. Then after they had gotten every last bit of intel they could out of him they would have tortured him in a way that would make house bolton look like a 5 star hotel. after breaking his spirit then they would have filmed him being set on fire, head slowly cut off with a dull rusty hack saw or something else that the "religion of peace" could think up to show the world how peaceful they are.

Mostly, yeah.

It sounds melodramatic as fuck because they're direct translating it from Russian and leaving out the curse words.

http://youtu.be/kNR7oOdIKh8

Take the radio at the beginning of the video where the Chechen asks the commander to pull his forces out as an example.

Comparing what is spoken to the written transcript makes it sound like clearly false melodramatic trash.

Many people don't understand this about the Russian language.

>people still think the direct translation applies to the spoken language in the same way
>so they think this act of heroism is false

It's a quirk of the language when you direct translate it.

It's like putting Nippon music through a translator.

See

>>29502152
For an example and a semi explanation.

>>29502067

I do not believe they didn't touch it somewhat. I can't imagine they didn't take out the curse words.

But I also know that a lot of slang and shorthand words in Russian don't translate well to English, as they don't exist in English. It sounds like very proper speaking when it's translated to English.

We don't have polite and impolite forms for the same word in the same way. Addressing rank and social status is inside of the word itself instead of a prefix like English. (I.e. No Doctor Ivan, mr Ivan etc in normal language)
>>
>>29500997
Given the option of
A: get tortured and creatively executed (burning plus bulldozer, anyone remember?)
B: quick death by 250lbs of explosive while taking them with me

I would choose B every goddamn times who knows, if god is particularly kind and respects your moxie, that air strike might not kill you and leave you an opening to escape. But it's better than being slowly tortured and paraded.

Look at him in the pic, that dude is tired, hungry, and things arent looking good.

ON MY POSITION
>>
>>29501631

I laughed more than I should have.
>>
>>29501543

Russia has different procedures than NATO.

He was only in the area to conduct airstrikes anyway. He would have direct contact to either the airbase commander or the pilots themselves (so they can set the auto bomb release, as they don't use jdams the same way).

Instead of call signs, the Russians differentiate on missions like these from the operative using the polite tense in sentences and the commanders using the impolite version. This allows the information like coordinates and enemy positions to be given faster and more numerous throughout the action.

They'll call for command and then just talk normally. Russian gives less information per syllable than English. A lot of it is buried in formality and other shit.

But it's only for operations like these. It would be ridiculous for any other missions to shorthand it. It only makes sense if they are not using laser designated munitions, which the Russians are not.

>Remember there are people on /k/ who honestly believe that Russia has no troops fighting in Ukraine.

The Ukraine civil war is a border conflict. Everyone knows that Russians are fighting in Ukraine, that is common in border conflicts.

The Russian government specifically denies that the Russian military is taking part or that the Russian government controls the rebel group. I find that believable, the rebels are too ineffective to be working with the Russian military and they ignore the agreements which Russia is trying to put in place.
>>
>>29502388
I'd wager there are Russian specialists there to train the pro Russia faction, and maybe even see some combat at times

Christ we have a live one here. Sure, that Russian army major caught shipping weapons to Donetsk was just lost and on holiday at the time.

And those dead tank crewmen from that Russian tank unit totally died in completely unrelated circumstances in Russia on what happened to be the same day their tanks were destroyed in Ukraine.

And those captured Russian VDV were just having a picnic thirty kilometers inside Ukraine at the frontline where the ground was nicer to put the basket down.

And those Russian artillery pieces firing into Ukraine to support rebel forces during fighting in 2014 had simply been blown in the wrong direction by the wind.

This is one of those times where it feels like truth that has been embellished. I'm not disputing whether or not this guy called a strike on himself or that he was any less of a badass than the story suggests, but I think it's also equally likely that he was panicking at the last second and may have said some stuff that the Russian government would have liked to alter slightly. For one he seems more concerned with ISIS using his body and uniform as propaganda tools than with the torture he would probably experience if captured.

Again I have zero basis for thinking this isn't authentic, but it's one of those times where something feels off. Same with flight 93 on 9/11. Sure I believe that people, facing certain death, might revolt against the hijackers and kill themselves in an attempt to save others, but it seemed pretty strange that they unanimously decided it over the course of a few minute phone call, and that they all went "Let's roll!" before attacking like it was an action movie.

Not sure if that is true, or even if I read that or just assumed that was the case. If it is true, I find it highly unlikely that he was stag.

Assuming it is true, holy shit that guy is a hero. I would like to believe that I would do the same in that situation.. I would for sure take being vaporized by HE munitions than tortured/ dragged by those fucks or being the fucking star of my own decapitation video.
Christ... imagine the thoughts and emotion in the time between the last confirmation and impact. Fucking insane. Some true human shit right there.

I don't fan boy other nations' militaries ever because most of their heroics are propaganda. But I must admit, this took some big balls.

Of course, it is nothing new for Americans. We've been doing shit like that since WWII. Hell, even LTC Hal Moore did it during Vietnam. It became common enough that they came up with a code word for it - Broken Arrow.

Not to steal the thunder away from him but it is good to see other troops from foreign lands finally being brave like the U.S.
