The AR was specifically designed for cartridges lacking the taper that x39 has. Also the a 7.62x39 bolt in the AR has very thin walls due to the cartridges' size.
.300 and 6.5 and 6.8 was designed specifically for operation inside an AR platform and 7.62x39 was not.

Yes because its based on an AR10 and usually downsizing to a smaller cartridge isnt as much an issue as upsizing a smaller gun to a larger one.

No but I replaced the wood furniture with arsenal polymer furniture, a krebs safety lever, wolff xp recoil spring, texas trigger, griffin armament flashcomp, and ultimak.
It was in pretty rough shape and well used. Eventually I'll get around to refinishing it just to beat it up all over again.
