>PTR
Yes, yes it is. For what it's worth, the PTR 91 FR doesn't have the original HK-spec chamber, barrel, etc it's PTR's own creation. From Atlantic Firearms:

''The Barrel on the PTR GI , PTR A3R & PTR A3S are the Original German profile barrels , The KF, & F series use the heavier Target barrel it is a bit thicker and does not resemble the HK style . The GI & A3 series are supposed to work better with a wider variety of the Surplus ammo on the market the KF & F series have a bit tighter tolerances for better accuracy and should be used with a higher grade of ammo.''

>>29498328
It's fine. Remember to get a metal lower.

Heavy recoil buffer makes a noticeable difference as well.
>>
>>29498362
Forgot to add, you may experience light strikes the first 50 or so rounds on a brand new rifle. Happened to me and a few others, so i figured it was worth mentioning. Check headspace and you're good to go.

so i should be looking at the PTR GI instead?

how do i get a low profile rail on it?

>>29498362
what's wrong with polymer lower?

thx 4 the heavy recoil buffer tip will definitely get one
>>
>>29498396
I have no idea what you want to do with this rifle, but it's worth pointing out that there are differences between the two. Atlantic Firearms, I believe all of their models have rails and paddle-style magazine releases installed.
>>
>>29498396
Polymer lower is thicker and feels like shit on your hand after a long day at the range. You're limited to putting a Hogue heavy tool grip (I believe the large size fits best, if that's the route you want to go) in lieu of a new grip. A metal lower is thinner, which requires a new selector lever as well (usually shorter, and designated for metal lowers) and you can put whatever grip you want on a metal lower (including sexy psg1 grip.) Don't forget to buy a grip screw, or you'll have to wait another week for it to come in.

>buys PTR
>puts optic that MSRPs for over double the price of the gun
>puts suppressor that costs more than the gun on a gun that has one of the loudest actions possible

this is stupid anon
>>
>>29498504
optics generally cost more than the gun they are on. quality optics are expensive.
>>
>>29498527
true true, but for $2000 he could get a lot more than a Vortex
And it's a PTR, not a Surgeon
>>
>>29498533
The cost of the Vortex is ~$1,300. The MSRP is retarded high. Hell, the Trijicon 1-6x is less than that!

to be fair this is the reason why i want such a good suppressor...i also hate shooting w/ ear protection and believe that hearing is crucial during an actual "happening" so running with no suppressor is not an option

it is also just my preference to have superior glass on every gun. it's a cheap gun so obv. the optics are gonna cost 2x as much

am i being that retarded?

>>29498533
what would you recommend, i have looked thru the vortex and the wall-to-wall clarity of the glass is simply mind blowing, it felt more like a red dot than a scope on 1x
>>
>>29498544
leupold mk 4 hamr, the trijicon VCOG (a little over but not by much)

nikon and zeiss are quite good too. or get a normal vortex PST. maybe something from nightforce?
>>
>>29498544
>i also hate shooting w/ ear protection and believe that hearing is crucial during an actual "happening" so running with no suppressor
hate to break it to you but suppressed 308 is louder than unsuppressed 9mm typically.
>>
>>29498544
>i also hate shooting w/ ear protection

You will still destroy your ears shooting 308 without earpro
ESPECIALLY in a PTR
>>
>>29498544
>what would you recommend, i have looked thru the vortex and the wall-to-wall clarity of the glass is simply mind blowing, it felt more like a red dot than a scope on 1x

Go look at other $1400 glass at 600+ yards and you'll see a huge difference
>>
>>29498585
>>29498577

Normally I'd be in agreement, but the silencer OP wants is fucking ridiculous. I've personally tried it and I think it would hush a HK91 easily. Whether it'd be hearing safe I'm not sure, but it would be tolerable without earpro, no question.

>300 BLK

Not even going to watch if you're that fucking stupid

308 has way more muzzle blast and action sound
>>
>>29498622

I'm aware.

That silencer was godlike with .300WM

Don't speak unless you've tried it.
>>
>>29498665
>300 WM

On a bolt action
Again, you're stupid
>>
>>29498589
>>29498572
thx anons

why do you say i'll see a difference? what i was looking for was a variable power scope that was as good as a red dot and i was pretty blown away by the vortex's complete lack of distortion

>>29498622
>>29498585

should I look at a different platform then? because i really won't buy a gun that i can't shoot without keeping my hearing intact, hearing is just way 2 crucial 2 me, if you can't hear anything you might as well be dead
>>
>anything other than issued optics
>throwing ugly rails and modern shit all over a classic, beautiful design

I bet you'd rice a '69 charger
>>
>>29498685
Judging by the quality of your posts, you shouldn't own a firearm.
>>
>>29498685
>why do you say i'll see a difference?

Because at long range you'll notice not as nice light transmission and dark or blurry sight picture
This is what separates a $600 optic from a $2000 optic

You could be giving OP some quieter or more practical options instead of being a useless child.
>>
>>29498685
>should I look at a different platform then?

Only suppressed pistol calibers are arguably quite enough to shoot without earpro, but literally anything over 5 minutes of shooting is enough to damage your hearing
>>
>>29498701
hearing damage isn't my concern, it's being deaf during a /situation/ where my hearing is crucial 2 survival
>>
>>29498717
your ears will be ringing and you won't be hearing very well
outdoors you can shoot a PTR unsupressed and you'd be fine as long as you don't do 3 magdumps in succession

And even then you'd still hear, you'd just have ringing ears
>>
>>29498717
That suppressor will do fine if that's the case. Haven't used one on a ptr, but I'd imagine you'd have slightly less tinnitus.

Just get a normal PTR without faggy rails, slap a clawmount with issue hensoldt on it.

Wide handguard accepts bipod.
>>
>>29498868
>issue hensoldt
Not OP but a PTR owner.

Are those old fucking things worth what they cost anymore? Like $600? Fucks sake I can get a Zeiss Orion80 for that much.

I mean I want one, but that price is ludicrous for 20+ year old glass.

does the claw mount raise the scope too high???

do all claw mounts allow you to use iron sights as well?
>>
>>29498892
Claw mount, yes.

The welded rail models give me some problems using irons unless I'm using a really high mount.
>>
>>29498868
Hk brand hk bipod us also usually 300 usd.

(I still want it.)

Just get electronic ear pro.
>>
Get a genuine H&K G3/G3SG1, there's probably plenty of aftermarket upgrades to allow you to equip attachments. But with a genuine H&K you know you're getting the original quality.
>>
>>29498886
>>29498916
Think them as investments. They lose zero value and even appreciate, well we could see some HK bipods coming as milsurp from Greece and Turkey in next 10-15 years when they get new rifles. In Greece every grunt has bipods on their G3.

yfw b&
>>
>>29498892
It does but isn't a massive deal if you have a cheek riser. Also get a better trigger pack if possible, G3 triggers are on the heavy and mushy side.
