Well, I am no expert in the matter but I have owned this pistol for 2 days. I really did not like it. The trigger felt terrible, I couldnt shoot it accurately, I tried reloading the cases only to find them all crush in the die. I had to sent my dies back to RCBS to have the cases removed. Then I was super careful about it next time, and managed to reload 100. All 100 had cracked necks after the 2nd go around. Ammo is expensive and has to be order almost 100% of the time. The whole point was to make an AP pistol, but the .gov is gay and wont let us even order the right bullets to make the gun do what it was designed to do. The cappacity was nice though.
That being said, for the budget, There are far better pistols. If you want it because you just want it, then go for it. But it is not the best at anything by any stretch of the imagination.

I mean I'd recommend against trying to teach yourself to machine
it's really, really, really, really, really fucking dangerous if you don't have someone on hand who knows what they're doing.
There is a very good chance there is a community college within driving distance that has a machine shop class. That will be great to start, and once you know the basics find a local machinist and try and get them to mentor you.
I'm in gunsmithing school so that's how I got my exposure to it, it's challenging but you can pick up the basics pretty quickly.

alternatively buy a small desktop CNC. I can't speak for other industries but CNC is the future of the firearms industry, You'll be able to do small parts and the machines aren't as lethal if you do something stupid.

It is robbery, at the very least they rob you of a whole lot of magazine capacity. It makes no sense how it doesn't use the same type of mags as the P90.
That way, you could have 30 or 35 rounds, a somewhat longer barrel as this thing demands, (and those would be without it being all that much bigger) and a much smaller grip.

They'd have to be smaller, and so they'd have to come with a spacer that latches on to the outside for when it needs to be the size of a normal P90 mag.
That way you could have at least 25 rounds.
