Military related question: why do so many SF guys have white supremacist tattoos?
Some background this time so the thread doesn't get shitcanned again: I met a guy who has this tattooed on his inner forearm. I know what it is because I was a thoroughly aspie teenager and really into werewolves and so I drew it on my hand a few times for fun before I knew what it was. The guy I mentioned is probably the third or fourth SF guy I've met, out of maybe a dozen, to have vaguely WS tattoos (the other guys had Celtic crosses; admittedly, one was Polish). They were mostly nice to me, as a black dude, so I'm wondering if maybe it's just a camaraderie thing removed from its original meaning or what.

A lot of white supremacist symbols come from things like Viking runes and mythology. So do a lot of badass warrior stuff. While there's probably some overlap, there's also probably a lot of separation.

It is incredibly unfortunate that runes and lots of other cool symbols have been co-opted by white power to the point that people have forgot their original meanings and made having them social suicide.
This Valknut, for instance, is incredibly badass, with a long heritage, but is used by some white supremacists so I am hesitant to display it in public.

Why do you think so many SF have white supremacist tattoos? You're probably lying.
If you were into runes as a teenager, how do you not know that they predate nazism? The Celtic cross is also much older than white nationalism.
That said, plenty of SF dudes are white boys from the country, and are not to fond of urban culture, typically personified as black. I wouldn't say they're full on racist, but lots of them don't have any black friends.
Most Nazi symbols are actually old Nordic in origin. The Swastika is an ancient sun symbol, and there are different iterations of that too. Some versions were reserved for a warrior caste, others had a religious meaning. The Wolfsangel was an highly impor

Norse paganism is fairly common in the Nordic armies, I think most symbols/runes would be accepted there without being considered white supremacy symbols. I'm not going to let some Austrian fellow go ruin badass history.
