depends on location
blunt objects tend to work best when you can swing them so places like hallways/small rooms/small apt in general might not be ideal
problem with knives is people don't like to get stabbed and if the intruder somehow disarms you he might decide to stab you with your own knife because fuck you for bring it and trying to stab me first
something like a framing hammer wouldn't be hard to swing around in tight areas and will still fuck up someone's day

I think a blunt object with some reach that can be swung fairly easily would be ideal, ie baseball bat. More likely to stun or knock the attacker off balance with the first hit versus a blade.
A motherfucking halberd would be god tier though. It's a spear AND an axe. Bonus points if you can find one that also has a blunt hammer end.
