I'm thinking of buying a Tavor. could you guys give me some pros and cons about this firearm? would you recommend it? I live in CA so i can only get a semi auto version
>>
>>29481538
Does nothing cheaper rifles doesnt does better
>>
>>29481543
but has a nice unique look to it. any cheaper rifle that has a unique look to it? went to my local gun store and i saw a bunch of the same looking rifles
>>
>>29481538
> I live in CA so i can only get a semi auto version

As does the rest of the US. The CA legal version just has a retardedly long barrel.

Also hold out for their new one, the x95.
>>
>>29481588
>a long barrel in a bullpup
>a bad thing

But yeah, hold out for the new ones, OP. They look better and have numerous improvements.
>>
>>29481588
texas cant get full autos? I thought texas could get anything
>>
>>29481617

fully auto guns have been illegal in the US since 1986. Unless you have an NFA tax stamp and a pre-86 receiver. But they're stupidly expensive as a result.

Some people have full autos but we're talking about people with a lot of money
>>
>>29481562
If your doing it for looks then go ahead
>>
>>29481617
No. Simply put, once the law was passed in '86, no new full autos could enter circulation. Dealers with the right licences can make new ones, but only for "research and development", so any full autos that exist and can be bought and sold cost tens of thousands of dollars and are all from before the ban. It's horseshit.
>>
>>29481644
>>29481665
Oh shit. Thanks for the Info guys :)
is it possible to turn a semi Tavor into a full auto just buy switching a few parts?
>>
>>29481665
>>29481644
another question. Is the famas and the Mp5 illegal in California?
>>
>>29481685
ATF pls
>>
>>29481685
You would need a full auto trigger pack, or the skills/resources to create the parts. Doing so is highly illegal, and is liable to get your dog shot by the ATF, and you either killed as well or shipped off to club fed.
>>
>>29481694
There are no civilian versions of The Famas available in the US to my knowledge, and any transferable full autos would be prohibitively expensive. Full auto MP5s are around but similarly expensive, and likely not legal in Cali. There are MP5 clones, but they may be banned due to the state's laws.
>>
>>29481718
I remember reading somewhere there are a few civilian legal FAMAS rifles in the US
>>
>>29481732
I suppose that isn't surprising, they have to be pretty pricey, right?
>>
>>29481700
>Doing so is highly illegal, and is liable to get your dog shot by the ATF
WTF why does America suck so much.
>>29481718

because our lawmakers want to keep us safe, anon :3

Just fucking kidding, they don't give a shit and are scared to try to oppress an armed populace without attempting to disarm them, and the supposed "gun advocacy" groups are just shills for the american gun industry and try whenever they can to fuck with importation of products that may potentially force said companies to have to bring their standards up to par and actually compete like a free market is FUCKING SUPPOSED TO CHRIST I'M MAD

>is it possible to turn a semi Tavor into a full auto just buy switching a few parts?

Not legally, because there are no legally civilian owned auto receivers for the Tavor.
>>
>>29481538
CA as in... Canada?

This is a personal opinion of course but I could not get a comfortable hold on the Tavor when I tried it. I've seen others have the same opinion. Another option is getting the T97. It has very little aftermarket in comparison but costs 1/3 the price for also being a 5.56 bullpup.
>>
>>29481888
CA as in California. Sorry for not being specific

>but it looks so sexy
yeah, I understand. The FAMAS is a sexy beast, but she's just another special snowflake yuropoor rifle that had to use shit materials and re-use "disposable" mags due to fucked procurement.

Before you buy a gun, do some shooting. Know what you want in a gun in terms of performance, and the look at the aesthetics you have available in that performance category. Research how much ammo and mags are going to cost you for that weapon, and have an idea of how much you'll go to the range. If you have a pretty gun that hurts to shoot, or is costly to shoot, all you will get to do is look at it.
>>
>>29481934
Good point. How about the Tavor, would you recommend
>>
>>29481538
Great rifle! I own one and have not been disappointed at all.

The x95 imho is not going to be worth it and will do the same thing the Tavor sar ( your pic) will do. I believe the x95 is initially conceived to appeal to a wider American Audience because most Americans can't wrap their heads around rifles that don't have the same ergos as an AR. So the x95 for the American market alleviates that to some degree and is imho not as good looking of a rifle.
And now we wait for all the childish replies....

Hit up the Tavor owners groups on FB. You'll get better and more mature responses there.
>>
>>29481957
I drive a Honda civic, use generic creatine and own an AR and a glock 19. It's fair to say that our tastes are slightly different. If you have the money, and want something that stands out, get a tavor. (It's a hell of a lot less customizable than an AR, however)
>>
>>29481784

tac reloads are a meme

>>
>>29482146
No idea
>>
>>29482146
You could file a Form 1 to manufacture an SBR. The hard part would be getting the X95 short forend. I'm not sure if it's available or not, or what other hurdles you'd have to cross to make a short barrel Tavor.

Also SBRs are not legal in all states.
>>
>>29482109
oh, I forgot
the only thing a tavor has over an AR is shortness. It makes a good truck gun. It doesn't have anything over an AUG, however
>>
>>29482300
yeah that's what i like about it. the shortness. how much for a AUG? average price

The 16 inch barrel is already pretty short on the Tavor but I can see why you'd want a shorter barrel.

I dig it, pic related.

I've had zero issues with mine and I've mostly been feeding it steel case Wolf. Only negative thing I can say is the trigger is heavy as shit at first but seems to lighten up a bit the more you shoot it and the rail does sit a bit high so optics and irons like magpul mbus pro are gonna sit low. It doesn't really do anything other rifles can't do but if you got the cash go for it.
>>
The new tavors have a mag release in the same position as an AR as well as a trigger lightened from 11 to6lbs. The balance on a tovor is beautiful. Very nice handling compared to an AR
>>
>>29482419
Yeah it's pretty nice. I picked up my Tavor a couple weeks ago. Total afte taxes was 1,905. Need to get an aimpoint or meprolight for her next.
>>
>>29482435
"The rails sit high so the irons are gonna sit low"

>>29482436

>>
>>29482435

Fuck I meant to say the stock rail sits low lol
>>
>>29481538
Get the X95, it has a better fore end, better factory trigger, is almost as cheap or cheaper than the Tavor SAR depending on where you shop, slightly better charging handle location, and has aftermarket support coming soon (Manticore Arms already has a curved buttstock in the works that reduces the LOP a bit).
>>
>>29482146
They will sell a factory SBR, but it'll come out later this year, so expect prices to be high due to panic.

Start with the cons
>heavy
>heavy factory trigger
>meh accuracy
>light mounting options suck
To some, the optics sit lower than they like

Pros
>great aftermarket
>sbr-length gun without the legal hassle
>points and handles great
>doesn't feel like you're holding a heavy gun because of the weight in the ass

pic related to my tavor
>>
>>29482121
I'm stoked that they fixed the spacegun whole hand guard thing.
>>
>>29481538
This makes me wonder, would bullpups that are sufficiently long be legal in NY
>>
>>29481538
I put 500 rds through one not to long ago, had a few double feeds that were a PAIN IN THE ASS to clear, but other than that I had no issues with it.

That being said the double feeds were from a subpar mag not the rifle it's self.

Another thing I noticed is the sight radius is kinda meh... But with optics that's not an issue.

Isn't there a law in some of the pro fun states that allows you to own a full auto as long as you made it yourself and keep it in the state?
