First time handling a Makarov bulgarian. Brother snagged one at the shop last week. I was working the slide and reinserted the magazine after I was done fiddling with it. Then I pushed the safety on and

>CLAAAK!

Holy SHIT why the hell does this thing release the trigger when you engage the safety? I nearly had a godamn heart attack.

Still having the decocker and safety as the same lever is kind of unsettling.

It's always a good thing to learn the jargon for your hobbies. The parts of a gun would be a good place to start.

>the trigger is the lever on the bottom of the gun that your index finger pulls to cause the gun to fire
>the hammer is the lever on the rear of the gun that is actuated by the trigger and the slide, and which falls on the firing pin when firing
>>
Since we're talking about bulg maks, how come the "safety/decocker" turned red after awhile?
>>
>>29462842
dude seriously? pls b trolling
>>
>>29462925
How? Berettas are all junk then. Same with Walther and the ppk. Its fine dude, don't worry about it.

While we on the topic of stupid makarov questions. The holster some of them come with. What is this kind called? Where the gun is recessed too deep in for the fingers to get around the grip and you have to pull a string to carry it upwards and out?

I wouldn't worry about it.

So there is no point in manually decocking the hammer with your thumb? Just Push up the safety and CLAAK?
>>
>>29463132
>just push the decocker and it decocks
Ftfy no need to thank
>>
>>29463132
Stop. Now.

Decocking with the decocker uses the safety to block the firing pin before dropping the hammer, using your thumb is begging for an ND.

Yeah that holsters a piece dude. Sights snag on it every time I take it out. I feel bad for the poor sons of Bitches that used that in the line of duty

No I am just incredibly new to funs and accidentally typed "trigger" instead of "hammer". The concept of a decocker that is fixed to the safety feels wrong to me. If the safety somehow fails you are essentially firing the weapon by dropping the hammer in the same motion. Seems like a risky design unless the safety is so thick the entire mechanism that drives the pin forward will break before cracking whatever the safety is using to block it's movement.
>>
>>29463242
It's physically blocked from hitting the firing pin.

Do it a few times at the range with a round chambered. You'll prove to yourself it's safe.
>>
>>29463242
I'm sure you'll be fine.
>>
>>29463305
Just keep it pointed in a safe direction while you decock
>>
>>29463305
>treat all firearms as if they were loaded
>never point a gun in a direction you don't intend to destroy
?????
>>
The mak was my first blowback operated gun. That shit gets FILTHY on the inside good lord. Its like I dropped it in sand after 50 rounds.
>>
>>29463341
Shoots like a fuckin laser though
>>
>>29463341
Which is why it is fortunate it operates while filled with sand.

Listen to the quads. They are your friends.
>>
>>29463378
Haha yeah that was the vid that convinced me to get mine. Very happy with it

Technically, OP, the decocker does reset the trigger so your typo is still correct
>>
>>29463378
How on earth did it dissasemble itself when it was fired underwater? It wasnt damaged or anything and fired afterwards but still.
>>
>>29463403
Did you get the red star and black grip with yours? The black grip with thump ridge was installed when it was shipped. However the screw it came with doesn't fit into the red star dick grip. Kind of ruffled about that.

Only way for the slide to come off is if the trigger guard if pulled down. Some fucking how the pressure from boolet forced it down just enough so when the slide was forced back it was allowed off the track.

Poseidon himself is still trying to figure out how H2O pulled off that shit.
>>
>>29463242
You're fine unless it's a Taurus.

Those tend to go off when decocked.

Simple test, unload the gun, put pencil in chamber so eraser is against breech face, decock gun.

If pencil flies out, decocker is shit.
>>
All guns that have a decocker drop the hammer. Why is it more unsettling that its also the safety that cuts off the hammer from the firing pin? Sure, its a bit fast, but it doesn't matter. The Mak is one of the most trustworthy handguns ever designed. The only thing that has EVER caused malfunctions in mine was Wolf, and Wolf has shat up every gun in every caliber I've run it through. God damn so many failure to fires with primer strikes on them, and failure to feeds.
>>
>>29462863
It shouldnt you retard. Op needs to replace some parts
>>
So maks go from condition 4-3-2-0?

I don't think I should find this as funny as I do.
>>
>>29463425
Yes I did. I was impatient and got a screw from the hardware store. It was too long and tightening it rendered 1 of my 2 mags inoperable because it bent it. I'm a fucking idiot.

Eventually got the right screw for like 10 cents from some website. I should habe just waited but also THE FUCKING SCREW HOLE SHOULDN'T GO STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE MAG WELL WHAT THE FUCK DUDE
