How do you think Iraq could have one the first Gulf War?

Those are Iraqi-made helmets. They've copied the korean M76 helmet pattern and use shit plastic for it(pvc I think).
>>29461161
The gook basically took M2 helmet design, made it slightly smaller (because asian head) and use nylon instead of steel(because steel is expensive).
While it is inferior to M2 in term of protection, it's lighter and fit the cranium more snugly (even compared to PASGT), and it's popular with countries like Indonesia and Sri Lanka, who often operate in the jungle
Worst korea still use them, albeit made with much better material than the older types (they gave the old ones to UN afaik)

Yea but it would only protect them from falling coconuts or rocks on their way back down from an explosion maybe. Why even wear it?
>>29461457
Still plenty of times better than wearing boonie hat.
Besides helmets was never meant to stop direct hit from a rifle anyway. The gooks realized it and decided to made things as cheap as possible while maintaining minimum requirement.
What does /k/ think about the Tabuk?
>>29461498
Bump for Tabuk circlejerk
>>29461041
Well it's fun to shitpost about ww2 and how the Germans could possibly have one, but the Iraqis had no chance. The only way I can think of that could possibly change the outcome is to stay out of Kuwait.

Well, there exercises are just too complex for the puny American brain to comprehend

Do you think that there was a chance Iraq could have beat Iran?

Remaining inline with Iraqi political objectives? Utilize chemical weapons, either on Saudi staging areas or in the path of advancing forces. On mobile so I can't cite what I want, but coalition staff were extremely afraid of Iraqi wmd use. CNN live footage of bandaged and bleeding us servicemen on national television would have had severe repercussions with a populace suspicious of another Vietnam scenario.
Alternatively strike into Saudi Arabia to prevent the US military build up. This alone would greatly complicate coalition logistics and introduce variables that could result in atleast av stalemate for Iraq in the form of concessions.
They lost the moment they invaded. They made enemies out of everyone, even Syria joined the coalition.

Also, some awesome reading. Its a RAND report that outlines why SCUD hunting was so damn difficult, and its one of my favorite examples of OPFOR craftiness.

There's no way. They couldn't even beat Iran which was a pariah state in the depths of revolutionary chaos with the backing of BOTH superpowers.

Assassinate the Britsh Royal Family.
>>29461041
Watch General Schwarzkopf's briefing on YouTube, and draw your own conclusions.
My conclusion is that the Iraqis were fucked. If they'd used chemical weapons, they would have been double-fucked.

Stealing a nuclear weapon from Israel would be their best option, which is to say that they were practically helpless.

Try to get lots of M1's from the US before the war
>>29461041
If I remember correctly, Saddam tried to launch scud missiles at Israel to draw them into the war. This was hoped to cause the Muslim countries to stop fighting because they would be on the same side as Israel.

The only way Iraq could have won the Gulf War is by fighting someone else.

They didn't.
The Kuwaitis had kebab remover tanks.
>>29465475
Welp
That's the answer I was looking for. Bread Helmets. The might of bread helmets would leave the coalition in crumbs.
>>29463622
The Syrian Ba'ath party was always a direct rival of Saddam, really no surprise they joined the Coalition.
>>29461041
Coalition didn't even take it all that seriously. It was less of a war and more like a soft, tender caress.
