Looking at this for a camp carry. Thoughts K?
>>
Recommended by a friend, positives opinions at the range, the after market is endless, especially for you in the US. I am going to buy one in some months (I need paperwork for semi autos)

It's great. I have mine set up with a cheap red dot and a side folder stock. The lockup is tight and it holds zero with no problems. It's a normal 10-22 in all regards but with the bonus of fitting in a backpack.

Waht this guys says. Have one and has worked flawlessly for hunting small game. I would add you just need to be careful any accessories you buy for it are compatible with it. (Mostly for after marked stocks)

I'm considering buying one, taken down how compact is it? And I'm kinda iffy about it being such a small caliber. But i mean for the price and the fact you can take this motherfucker anywhere seems pretty good.
>>
>>29460568
>how compact is it
not as small as a papoose
>>
>>29460585
So
Marlin papoose > Ruger 10/22???
>>
>>29460604
if most compactness is what you're going for then yes. if not then no.
>>
>>29460604
Eh... Size isn't everything. There's a reason the 10/22 outsells every once of its competitors.
>>
>>29460499
The aftermarket stock thing has fixed itself through enterprise. You can get an AGT side folder like I did or go for an underfolder as well as others. I'm surprised tapco hasn't chopped their 10-22 stock in half to get in on the new market since the TD is here to stay.

The TD foreguard works with all factory barrel bands too. I've got the lasermax laser on mine because it was only $30 on Amazon.

The best thing I did to mine was put a voltquartsen target hammer in it. Lowered the trigger pull significantly

With a .22lr what am i looking at reliabily taking down? I know shot placement is a thing, but lets say i was aiming at cebtermass, howmany shoots SHOULD take down the average human? How many shots to take down a black bear?

Oh look, the PATRIARCHY is demeaning women AGAIN by DEMANDING breasts. Check your cis privilege Lance. Fucking fascists.
>>
>>29460449
Not strong enough to fend off a lot of big predators but for smaller people or animals it will work. It is a great gun for plinking and other fun outings but I wouldn't count on it as a camp/survival rifle.

I'd look at a handgun or, if you were insistent on a rifle, look at a Henry Big Boy, carbine or Mare's leg chambered for .44 Magnum. They are fantastic guns for that purpose along with revolvers and other guns firing the .44 magnum/special or .357 magnum.

>>
>>29460788
Henry rifles are pretty light and a .44 should be able to take down anything coming at you in N.A. with a few shots as long as it isn't cloaked in metal or body armor. Not a bad pick.

AR-10 is also worth consideration along with the ( almost too heavy for the task ) A.K. Handguns would be your lightest, arguably best defense option but the Henry certainly up there if you were specifically looking for a light-weight, defensive rifle.

Thanks, the zero hold was my main concern.

>>29460499
Thanks. Accessories were another concern, I'll probably limit it to a 3x and a couple of larger mags.

>>29460585
Looked at the papoose. Don't like the limited mag. Thanks though.

>>29460737
Said "camp carry" not "surviving the game'.

>>29460788
It's 2016 fuck off with your playing cowboys and indians shit.

>>29460843
Said "camp carry" more than likely will be stored. Fuck off with your libertarian, "I can carry a bazooka if I want", B.S..

Thank you all for the input.
>>
But can you fire it without attaching the barrel?
>>
>>29461916
>can a gun fire with no chamber
Are you retarded?
>>
>>29460449
I have one. It shoots gud and I bought the hi-cap magazines for it.

One pin cracked in tw, one that absorbs the recoil of the bolt. It works still, because the pin is locked into place, but still.

It's kinda nifty. I put a scope on it and it now barely fits in the awful molle bag the gun came with.

I think it'd be great to store in a cheap laptop case. Discreet, unlike the bag it comes in.

I'd sell it but my wife loves it and someday .22lr will be available to the public before the gun is banned.
>>
>>29462145
Thanks Rosie. Not OP, but I want one of these as well
>>
>>29460737
Between 1 shot and 25 shots, depending on shot-placement.

.22lr out of a rifle penetrates about 6" with regular cheap 40gr ammo. Same like getting perforated with a 6" stillito or ice-pick. One in the head is fatal, 25 in the spleen or liver, not so much.
>>
>>29460986
>Looked at the papoose. Don't like the limited mag. Thanks though.

marlin comes in factory 7 and 10. aftermarket promag makes a 25 contrary to common sense they function despite being made by promag.
ruger has factory 10 and 25 then a bunch of aftermarket shit mags that dont always work.

for a backpacker where space is at a premium marlin mags are great you could fit 5 thin 10 round marlin mags in the same space taken up by 2 of rugers fatass 10 round rotary mags
>>
>>29462167
Yeah Ruger mags are fat as fuck, especially the largest cap jungle mags they make. I would have got a Marlin takedown if I ever saw one for sale, they're cheaper, too.

I like Ruger and own two of their guns but the broken pin made me kinda sad.
>>
>>29462145
Buy a nylon recoil buffer (the part you broke) dumbass, it costs literally a few bucks

Also
>the current year
>there still being a 22lr shortage
>>
Just found out they make ten twentytwos with man licker stocks

Why?

There is this one if you're worried about size. They make a folding stock that works on this too. I have seen and held one of these ( my 10/22 isn't a breakdown.. just put a folding stock on it ), and it was really small.
