Why the wharncliffe blade senpai?
>>29457833
Shalom
>>29458478
Supposedly a wharncliffe can be pretty effective by increasing leverage throughout the swing, since the curve of the blade doesn't shorten the moment arm something something something.
I bought it simply because I liked the look, the steel used, and Spyderco as a whole.
A dead-straight edge is also pretty useful.

I was going to buy one but they CH anger it to a saber grind so I kind of dropped it
>>29457829
Oh. I knife alright.
>>29458518
I see, thanks for the insight. I use the spyderco endura4 myself. I plan on getting the dragonfly 2 in FRN to compliment it.

Wrap around aviator raybans? You have no taste faggot. Those are classic.

Classic != Archaic
Best garbage bag find ever.
One of my DIY leather strops, loaded with 8 micron CBN emulsion, along with my newest Calton 1095 necker.
Oiling the strop until it wouldn't take in any more really helped its performance by making it a lot more supple.

Dry the sweat off your lip and chins you fat fuck

What's the point of knife threads? Maybe I'm just not cut out for them.
Kinda small, but fits in the pocket of my dress pants next to my wallet, pseudodamascus blade looks interesting, sharp enough to do what knives do.
Been really wanting one of these.but cant bear the wait.
>>29461341
Yes, its flimsy as fuck, don't even think about disassembling it for cleaning.
>>29461416
Why? I can't imagine a single cutting task that thing would be good at.
>>29458478
Not him, but I like them because they make fine cuts a lot easier. A lot of people don't really need that but it's something I personally find very useful.
>>29458557

My uncle made this for me from an old railroad spike. Still haven't finished this DIY scabbard..
I keep meaning to wrap paracord around the grip part, but I'm afraid to do so before finishing the metal somehow. I would hate for it to rust away beneath the cord.
Op here, thoughts on the classic mora knife???

I got my wife (and myself) a set of the premier line for her birthday a couple years ago. Fucking beautiful knives and crazy sharp

Fuggin buy It
>>29462945
My grandfather gave me that model when I was a nipper, its 'somewhere' in my hiking gear and to be honest I've not seen it for fucking years.
They sharpen up like a razor and hold it ok
>>29461502
Because it looks nice and is priced decently.
>>29462845
Is that a HAP40 Delica? If so, how are you liking it?
>>29462882
>>29462962
Shun's are decent, although quite overpriced for what they offer.

He's super friendly too. Loves killing shit outside at night and bringing it to me in the morning, probably best cat life possible.
>>29462962
I'm probably going to pick up a paring knife from them soon, the santoku does everything I need a chef's knife to do so I don't see myself buying anything else for a long time.
Glock FM 81 (with a saw). Very good knife desu.
>>29457829
just ordered this
>>29463489
Ahh Carbon V, wherefore art thou, it's a shame the foundary went out of business. Despite the shit they manage to bring upon themselves, some of their stuff is super useful.

Yeah I love the layout of a Santoku. Here's one I'm currently putting handle scales on, just need to do oiling/polishing and even out the finger guard area and clean up the blade.
>>29464628
You should look into Tojiro DP knives, very good value for very good high hardness VG-10 knives.
>>29465877
Yeah my Tojiros have treated me really well. Scuse the potato quality
>>29463120
This.
Way too expensive for the amount of knife you get.
A couple years ago they were the cool, trendy knife for someone who didn't want the same Wusthof or Henckels-Zwilling as every other wealthy housewife.
If you want a Japanese knife, there are better knives out there that don't set their prices on the needs of their huge parent corporation's overhead and marketing costs.
They sure are pretty, though.
>>29464628
>>29465867
>falling for the Santoku meme
It's a Rachel Ray knife guys. Learn to use a chef's knife or a gyuto (if you prefer Japanese shapes) properly and you will start to see the santoku's limitations.
>>29465981
this >>29465913 is my knife, I still love the Santoku design >>29465867
also mine, my kitchen has very limited bench space so having your fingers lifted is very useful. To be honest I probably use my cheap chefs cleaver and another santoku more than any of my big chefs knives but that probably comes down to bench space.
>>29465981
Not everyone likes the same patterns you know. Just as an example, I adore my (admittedly overpriced) Zwilling Kramer chef's knife in 52100, but a lot of people HATE the tall heel. Conversely, i've nevwr liked low heeled (i.e. French pattern) chef's knives or most gyutos because i prefer a tall heel.
>>29465981
>everything is a meme meme
I've used knives before and I know what I like and what I need to cook at home.
>>29466009
Sure. When I had a little studio apartment, the only knives I really had were a six-inch santoku and a six-inch serrated utility knife that doubled as a bread knife. I didn't have space for anything else.
