We post famous final stands from your country or state regardless if it was successful or not. The more outnumbered the better. Death before defeat. Thermopylae, etc etc
>11-12 days of skirmishes and harassment tactics between the Mexican and Texan army.
>Gen' Santa Anna gets tired of this shit so on the last days he plans for a final push.
> with at least 1,800 men and artillery starts attacking the Alamo at dawn.
>He is fighting against 150- 280 men at most, very few in experience in combat. all in a small little mission(a small church) a couple of cannons and makeshift reinforcements around it.
>All of them died for what they believe in.
>not before taken out at least 400 to 600 men with them.
>Gen' Santa Anna took no prisoners.

Closest thing to a naval Thermopylae that I can think of

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_off_Samar

The little task force of taffy 3 fought so hard, that the Japanese admiral believed that they were most likely supported by a major carrier group and broke off engagements after 2 hours.

>Japanese admirals face when if he had pushed through them, he could've majorly disrupted the landings in Leyte and caused major casualties.

It was singed by 10th Roman legion during the great rebellion, until the Romans manged to build a ramp going 400m up to breach the citadel, and the rebels committed mass suicide to avoid slavery.

Battle of Berlin
>>
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Castelnuovo

This little and forgotten battle.

>Encouraged by the successful defense, several Spanish soldiers decided to conduct a surprise raid on the Ottoman camp with the approval of Sarmiento.[20] Thus, one morning, 600 men took the unprepared besiegers by surprise. In some places the assault could not be stopped, and panic spread among the Ottomans. Many troops broke and ran, including some Janissaries who fled throughout their own camp breaking down the tents, including that of Barbarossa.[20] The Admiral's personal guard feared for the safety of its lord, and, ignoring his protests, took him to the galleys along with the standard of the Sultan.[20]

>The last and definitive attack took place the next morning. Francisco de Sarmiento, on horseback, was wounded in the face by three arrows, but he continued to encourage his men.[23] Demolished by heavy gunfire, the ruins of the walls became indefensible. Sarmiento then ordered the 600 Spanish survivors to retreat. His idea consisted of defending a castle in the lower city where the civilian population of Castelnuovo had taken refuge.[23] Although the withdrawal was made in perfect order and discipline, Sarmiento and his men found that the doors of the castle were walled at their arrival.[23] Sarmiento was offered a rope to raise him to the walls,[23] but refused and responded "Never God wants that I was saved and my companions were lost without me".[5][23] After that he joined Machín de Munguía, Juan Vizcaíno and Sancho Frias to lead the last stand. Surrounded by the Ottoman army, the last Spanish soldiers fought back to back until none were able to fight. At the end of day, Castelnuovo was in Ottoman hands.

Not famous, but a bunch of British army royal military police were training Iraqi police in this town back in like 2005 or sometime. Parachute regiment cunts rolled in and started being dicks to the locals, and when the locals started to riot they shot at them (missed) and left the town tails betwixt their legs. The mob rolled up on the police station, and the Iraqi police fled but the Brits stayed and were all killed after a siege. The enquiry afterward found that they had been equipped with half the ammunition they were supposed to get, and their only radio was in their car, which was trashed by the mob.

Interestingly enough, about a week later a bunch of British men in rmp uniform but conspicuously carrying ARs rolled into town and started torturing a couple of Iraqi police for information on the mob's ringleaders. I think a few SAS guys were disciplined for this, but idk.

Anyways, yeah. The day the "elite" British infantry forces fled, and the remf coppers stayed. I think one of the Iraqis that survived told how he pleaded with the British officer "run away with us, they'll kill you if you don't" but the Brit told him the police station was their objective, and that was that. Stiff upper lip and all that.

Google Davey Crockett execution or something:

Captured in the night trying to flee, executed after the battle.

The myth of a heroic last stand (the battle actually was over in less than half an hour) makes for a better story though.

there is some controversy surrounding him no doubt about that, but I'm not talking about heroes. I'm talking about about a group of people fighting and dying for what they believe in, regardless of the odds stacked against them. They either succeed or they make it very costly for the enemy.

I have read about that battle of Wizna, the captain blew himself up with a grenade before surrendering. also didn't Sabaton make a song about the battle? Spartans of Poland or something like that.
