are there stocks that can go on any buffer regardless of length?

Yes

is the mp5 stock one of those? i'm debating on getting a GSE super short buffer tube with it, or just a MVB ARC PDW style stock.
the MVB would let me use milspec BCGs, but it's around an inch longer, and i don't see myself using anything more than 9mm given i wanna bring this to an indoor range. in any case it's a pain since the GSE is out of stock for a while. i'm curious how the weighting would fair.

The MVB ARC stock you had pictured comes with its own proprietary buffer tube. You can't use any other buffer tube with it. It's super short though, so you should be good.

that's what i thought. i just can't find a stock by itself that can collapse to any length, let alone to the one in the original pic. i guess i'll just go with the mvb.
how common are SMG builds for ar-15s? i'm curious about whether people go for 4 or 5 inches on their guards and barrels, and if they can retain any type of accuracy doing so. i'm debating on doing one with an echo but i sweat thinking about it.
hello there, friend

i don't like the idea of strapping it to my arm. i was thinking the fork like things on the mp5 stock would let it rest as close as possible, whereas the stabilizer has a bit of length.

You're really not seeing how this works, do you? Read between the lines my friend.
