Why would you even take anything else?

Because you said "best" and not reasonable I'm going to say the AA-12 in full auto with alternating buckshot and slugs would offer you the best protections against woodland creatures. Especially because of the tiny amount of recoil combined with the guns not very heavy.
>>
>>29444471
Something you train with a lot
>>
>>29444637
would a semi-auto benelli work also?
>>
>>29444637
Slug, buck-n-ball, and dragon's breath. Problem? Plull trigger. Repeat until no problem.
>>
>>29444637
>tiny amount of recoil
cyclic rate is pathetically slow.
>guns not very heavy
11 fucking pounds.

Doesn't matter, not going in production anyway.
>>
>>29444678
For a shotgun? No it's not slow by any means and 11 pounds won't seem so heavy when a bear is charging you.
>>
Camping?

If you're talking predators, it really depends on where you are, 99.99999% of the time that will never be an issue.

As far as crazy hill tweakers that will walk into your camp and fuck with you, thats a possibility where I live. Girl I went to high school with lost her parents to a dude trying to rob them at their campsite. There's also drunk rednecks who get kicks out of fucking with campers.

In that case, handgun.
>>
>>29444715
compared to M4's, VEPR-12's, and the hot mess that is gas operated civ shotguns, the rate of fire is slow.

>when a bear is charging you
Doesn't matter, still not going in production.

So granted I've never held one, but are you sure about that shit Anon?

But yes, since the question is so vague and we don't know where the woods are, that would most certainly be adequate for defense at least.

Again like most people in this thread it really depends on where your going/what you want to do with it. I'm doing a canoe trip this summer for about three weeks and I'll be using a m48 topper 12 gauge, I'm not hunting anything or planning on killing anything just using it as a psychological tool and noise maker.

This is my first trip solo wish me luck!
>>
12ga loaded with dixie's terminator (if rifled slug gun) or brenneke 3" black magic slugs.

.44 or above if you just want a handgun.

Or just take a .308 battle rifle and mag dump into whatever threat you encounter.

Still not an excuse for a semi shotgun that can't take low powered loads because of the comically heavy buffer. Plenty overweight when compared to a Saiga.

With proper shit placement you can kill a grizzly with a 22LR. Go look up that black and white pic of the monster grizzly some old lady killed oath a 22.

meme tier is sks, good idea tier is semi auto shotgun

I bring a Lee Enfield with me when I go into northern Ontario. Reliable, not overly heavy, big enough for anything you're gonna run across unless you get into polar bear territory, and can drive a tent peg into the ground in a pinch.

The only thing I worry about with it is moose. Those things can be mean and get pretty huge.

If you're gonna take a gun, take multiple!

.22LR for teaching the little ones how to shoot, a semi auto and pump action 12 gauge shotgun in case El Chupacabra attacks, and any 5.56 and 7.62 rifle of your choice. Also, bring a 1911 and a .338 lapua rifle. You never know if the world's about to end.

Ok man. I mean, you can argue that one guy in alaska a few years ago did get 1 actual good hit on a charging starved grizzly with his .454 casul, but the article did related that the bear still had enough momentum to have slid onto him, the guy shot off 3 rounds before the gun jammed on him, he also fell backwards due to tripping over something.
Now instead of a snub nose revolver, imagine yourself with a single shot shotgun.
>>
>>29445396
Yea. Not enough time to reload, especially if you miss. Bears are fast.
>>
>>29444892
Don't listen to those faggots. Shotgun is fine. In fact, due to it's light weight, it is actually ideal. You aren't likely to need it at all, but if you do, use brennake slugs for bear, and shot to get food.
>>
>>29444637
I unironically want an AA-12. With a UCP paintjob like Adrien Brody's guy in Predators. Might as well go full retard in absolutely every aspect.

A G20 is probably ideal for bear defense in terms of comfort (until you actually have to shoot it of course).

You could just strap an AK to your pack and carry it literally everywhere.

That's not maximum bear stopping power? The AA-12 is Maximum bear stopping power.

My innawoods gun.
>>
>>29444471

I personally carry a Glock 20 loaded with hot, hardcast lead rounds. I bought the ones made by Buffalo Bore but there are other companies.

The round is more than sufficient for any two legged "predators" in the woods, and if something like a bear DOES wander too close I at least have something that could put it down.

The pistol itself is light and small enough that open carried on a paddle holster is pretty comfy for hiking.
>>
i think what you would need depends on many variables. so really hard to say what "the best gun" would be. like time out, location, alone or in a group, how much weight you are carrying.what type of threats you are facing...etc etc.
please be more specific.

Depends on if you want it for hunting or for protecting yourself from wildlife.
For hunting, it's hard to go wrong with a 12 gauge pump gun. Depending on what you load into it, you can take anything from birds to bear.
On the other hand, if you just want something to protect yourself, a 357 revolver is an excellent choice, particularly with some spicy self defense rounds.
>>
>>29444471
Poorfag here, I take my SKS with 30 rd mag, and my little .357 revolver. Bring on the fuckin bears.
>>
>>29444471
Thinking of getting a Kel Tec Sub 2000 in 9mm for this reason, because it can fold up to throw it in a backpack, and I can't buy a pistol. Opinions?
>>
>>29444471
Depends on what kind of aminuuls you're goons be around. A shotgun is good for snakes and anything small. Anywhere with bears and predator cats you want a high power rifle like .308 or better.

More important thing is to make sure you can even have weapons with you. Everything is so confabulated these days who knows what the fuck is going on.
