The year is 2160, what three firearm companies are still well and alive today?

What is the most popular weapon amongst irregulars and insurgents throughout the world?
>>
>>29442552
Ruger, Beretta, FN.

AR's, AK variants probably.
>>
>>29442552
Glock, but they are plasma specialist manufacturer. HK, but they are the best in laser(2087 saw the first combat use of Kraut space magic, it was effective enough to propel them forward into even more stupidly space guns which despite being made as memes were effective as fuck)
>>
>>29442583
Bretty good.

HK boys probably got folded in somewhere as Germany eventually sold them out completely.

Idk like to think Kel-tec somehow survives
>>
>>29442552

FN because I don't see them losing their taste for quality any time soon

Colt because it's like a cockroach you just can't kill no matter how many times you stomp on it

Ruger because their shit just works
>>
>>29442552

I think larger weapons contractors will take over the small arms business.

So BAE systems, Boeing, Lockheed, etc.
>>
I suspect most big companies that around around today will be around in 100+ years, assuming they don't go bankrupt or absorbed into another company.

Beretta has existed since the 1500's making arquebus barrels, and I wouldn't doubt they can exist for another several hundred.

Ruger doesn't look like it's gonna stop growing anytime soon.

H&K still will maintain LEO/MIL contracts for years to come.

FN has a strong footing in the civilian market, and is one of the primary suppliers of weapons to militaries around the globe.

Browning will exist as long as there are wannabee country boys, and as long as Howa/FN exists.
>>
The more important question is how do we kill Colt?

Expose their stupid brand for what it is. Once upon a time I loved them, but they just don't know wtf they're doing. Colt is like that friend you have that's only youre friend because you grew up together but you don't have shit in common with because they fuck up all the time or have zero common interests.

Springfield is arguably a better company.
>>
Berreta. They've been around 500 years, and they be around for 500 more

H&K. They dominate the German military. They were able to sell the g36 to them, tell them it's dogshit 20 years later, then immediately sell them their new piston ar-15
Plus their pistols are God tier. They might not sell a lot to civilians, but they actually have a very versatile catalog.

S&W. They were the Kings of law enforcement in America for decades. They got over thrown by glock, but had a serious comeback with the m&p
Their ar15 game is getting better all the time. Besides their entry level sports, their tactical and competition ars are selling well too.

Lasers powered my mini nuclear reactors or even mini fusion reactors

Auto targeting bullets for regular kinetic gun powder firearms.

Multipedal unmanned ground combat vehicles with crude AI the size of small dogs (not a firearm, but it can be a personal weapon)

That's the future I want

The m&p does include pistols. And they are based American.
>>

Glock will be around
Remlin will be making single shot hunting firearm, made from a fance new metal called "ferric oxide".
And HK will be making literal HKs (Hunter Killers) skynet style, but they will fall apart like all HK stuff.
>>
Beretta, FN, and Colt
more than likely some highly modified AR and Glock knock offs (AD9VE type bull shit)
>>

H&K, Glock, S&W

Probably updated ARs and Glock's

Ammo will be the biggest difference
>>
>>29442552

So long as there are niggers, there will be HiPoint.
>>
Magpul will go from accessories into firearm production

Fn will become the leading manufacturer for both military contracts and civilian markets

Glock 40s will still be solving problems
>>
Kel tec will be producing the futuristic looking space guns, everyone else's will be sadly normal looking
>>
>>29444175
You aren't to dumb to realize that Springfield has done a lot more than play with the XD line right, which was still a great idea. The linkless and Omega pistols, importing various rifles and pistols like the P9, actually understanding marketing and how to survive.
>>
>>29447024

Maybe they'll just exist as the sole company still providing conventional projectile weaponry to the budget minded while the social elite use energy weapons.

Ah the beauty of kel-tec
>>
>>29442625
H and K will have Particle Rearangers that function as all around multi tools and weapons if needed. It will be like Star Trek's replicator except this version will have miles of range and make or disassemble anything.

Beretta will have fusion pistols that Imperial America uses as their main side arm.

Armalite's AR 100 rapid fire plasma blaster will be the standard Infantry Weapon of Imperial America.

I could see people still using bullets if say we do actually have energy weapons, especially people that live in places where old weapons are dumped like the middle east and africa.

I forgot where I read this, but at least for small arms solid projectiles with chemical propellants are pretty much thr pinnacle of small arms design.

For example, plasma, laser, and railgun weaponry is possible on a larger platform, but the power needed to power them is absolutely insane. We've had Lithium batteries for over 100 years, and even with constant research we can't find batteries which work better than lithium.

The most we can do is refine chemical propellants/solid projectiles to make them more efficient, shoot at flatter trajectories, etc.

why does no one ever think of explosive rounds like in the AK in Elysium? Airbursters will be the small arm of the future, and explosive airbursting rounds for modern rifles would be like a simplified version.
