This is what I say but I got into an argument with a guy at the range that said a rifle is better no matter what and you should always use your pistol to get to your rifle and under no circumstances should you ever choose a pistol over a long gun.

They would both be loud indoors but in my opinion the pistol would seem worse to them considering the rapid fire. Plus a bolt action would be clunky indoors. They could probably disarm you easier with it.

I've been to many ranges and many gun stores and talked to military guys in real life and I've never heard not one sane person bitch and whine about anybody saying "clip" you've got to be one of those guys that go to the range in full gear and brag about how your gun is better than everyone else's because those are the only kind of guys I'd ever imagine would both about something so ridiculous.

Fair enough. My room is on the far side of my apartment. Pretty much a straight line from my Room door to the apartment door. So, open door see entire apartment. I guess your own tactical home environment would change your answer. I would fill more comfortable with one good rifle shot since the walls are plaster board so any stray shot could cause high collateral.

Shit even if their is a malfunction with the rifle, it now became a club.
Plus every rifle should have a sling. Which if you are in a home defense situation, chances of you having your gun belt on and holster is pretty slim. At least with the rifle you can sling it and still use both hands.
