What parts do I need to make a factory 700 usable? I've been told 700s made after the Cerberus buyout in '91 are utter garbage.

Also, what's the most prevalent .223 bolt-action in the US?

I've heard the factory triggers should be replaced. Don't really know, looking into getting a 700 myself.

Replace everything but the action. Also it is pre 2006 Remingtons that are the good ones. Should be able to find one on the used market easily.

You could of course sell yours and buy a tikka, savage, etc.

Sub MOA accuracy is definitely achievable on a factory rifle. I have a R700P in 308 and it's a great rifle (see top picture).

I just got myself a Remington 700 ADL Varmint .308

I'm not completely sold on Magpul stock, any good suggestions for replacement. Mainly want to have detachable mag.

Pic related, what I have

Following. I have a Remington 700 syntetic in 308, with the non-detatchable internal magazine, and im interested in a stock that lets me use normal detatchable 5-round mags. I looked into the magpul-stocks, but the are quite "tacticool" and im not sure if i want that

They're perfectly usable for most people they're just not that accurate compared to similar offerings.

To get them up to standard, you'd have to replace everything but the action, and even the action would need to be trued to the new barrel

So, basically get a good gun instead of a Remington and you're good to go.
