I'd say its fine 54r has higher max pressure than .303br. If you see alot of damage to the brass switch to lower pressure loads. Handloads/reloads or lower bullet weight factory loads.

Probably, though you should stick with lighter loads. I'd be concerned about your scope getting smacked around by the brass.

Found this in a reddit thread CTCS was having:

Grip, all internal lower parts, buffer tube, end plate, castle nut, buffer spring, buffer, charging handle, rails, flash hider, gas block, gas tube - if the order is under $500.
Basically everything except for the lower, upper, bolt/bolt carrier, and barrel.

what the fuck are you smoking? Meth?
>>
>>29430367
vz58 is not cz858, are you smoking that trudeau legal weed my friend
>>
>>29430367
The CZ858 model is made from mostly surplus parts, including a modified former full auto bolt which can sometimes cause issues. It's generally a little rougher around the edges, compared to the VZ58. They're also made by different companies (CZ arms vs CSA)

>>
>>29430480
No
>>29430447
Yes
>>
>>29430463
CSA is the premiere brand made from all new parts. They did have some issues with the 5.56 models made from 2012-2014 having oversized gas ports which would result in the bolt cracking over time. The CZs had issues with the bolt sometimes completely disconnecting from the trigger due to the conversion. They were made from surplus parts.
>>
>>29430463
The 5.56 CSA's had some issues. Stick with glorious original 7.62x39 and you're fine

Has anyone ordered from Brownells before? They're literally the only place that has shit I need in-stock, but apparently they won't provide a shipping cost until you complete the order. Really don't feel like getting a potentially massive shipping charge for a $20 item.

What exactly happened to you guys? I don't ever recall having issues with them when I was living in Edmonton a few years ago.
>>
>>29431248
Don't. If you have your PAL, the money is better spent on real guns and accessories. If you don't, get it instead. Sure, you can run around with your friends and shoot them in the dick, but you can do that with a Wal-mart special. Airsoft is equal to or more expensive than the real thing, it has an incredibly cancerous community, and often the guns get critical design aspects wrong, while often being pricier than the real deal.
>>29431540
Jeff's a cunt known for basically only being in it for profit-he knows he can pretty much act any way he wants-he has the market solidly locked, minus a few places, and as such, his arrogance is Western Gun Parts-tier. He sells broken guns, steals parts from new products and sells them, and surrounds himself with similar egotistical faggot employees. I dislike shifty, arrogant people. Being lied to is a pet peeve of mine, and the odd time I ran into him, he gave me that "Allison Redford" vibe, the "I think I'm better than you", haughty fuckface attitude. I dunno, he's got a bad rep around the airshit community, but he's played his cards well, and pretty much owns Edmonton's community.

But who cares, the real thing is better.

guys how the fuck do i get around the 5 round limit on my sks without getting v&
i know a guy who said his pin fell out and has a wooden block but just because he likes nigger dick and jail doesn't mean i do

the only way i can think of would be an ak pistol mag pinned at 10 however would it be possible to buy an ak mag pinned at 5 and pin it to ten?

Thoughts?
>>
>>29432642
Pistol mags needs to be marked as pistol mags see pic.

As for 10 round AK pistol mags there are none in the country yet. irunguns is looking to bring some in.

Another way for 10 rounds is to get a STANAG mag modification and use XCR 7.62 pistol mags.

Last and easiest way is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1bCy0ouLZI

>>
>>29432763
Yup seems like the AK pistol mags have been delayed because the RCMP said the CMMG Mutant Pistol is a converted rifle but IRG is looking to bring in another pistol marked AR/AK pistol with legal 10 round AK mags.

All that will probably take a long ass while.

It would be the same as the CMMG and vz58 pistol it needs to be built originally as a pistol not converted from a full rifle.

Just unhinge the magazine and hold it with your left hand. Load the magazine with a 10 round clip and let the magazine down as she goes with the full 10 rounds and hold it while you shoot. It works everytim

You can actually check your status online.

Provided that your application is filled out correctly and all your other shit is in order (photo, references, etc.), they will eventually mail you your license.

However, it is strongly advised that you call them as soon as your payment clears. This makes a big difference. You can turn a 9-month wait into a 2-month wait.

You'll get the money taken out of whatever account about 2 weeks after they receive it, and the application will show up online. After that just call once a week or so until you get the card.

Well...

I started my application process like 8 months ago. I was really slack getting the medical stuff in order because I'm trying to delay what I want to do in life and have the army as an option. University is so damn boring so I didn't re-enroll this semester.

Anyway, I was told I scored very high on the CFAT and I applied for Int Ops and Infantry. I asked them outright what the chances are of me being offered a job with Int because the guy straight up told me the hire 10-15 of them A YEAR. He told me I might not get in right away since April is the start of the new fiscal year but there is a good chance I will get in within the year.

So now I'm waiting for the call. I'm guaranteed infantry if they don't want me for Int Ops so I'm debating on joining up right away as infantry and trying to transfer over in 3 years, or biding my time waiting for them to offer me Int Ops. Problem is I could be waiting for a year.

I'm going to go back in on Monday and talk to them to try and figure out what my chances really are. They said they're very competitive but that means fuck all when they hire like 1 person a month out of everyone applying nation wide.

Another question, what's day to day life for infantry like? I had a specific question. Do you live in Gagetown/Petawawa and just apply for courses throughout the year like the paratrooper or recon or arctic stuff? I read that you can sign up for the Rangers course and go to the States to do a bunch of courses as well.

I know I have a lot of questions but I'm trying to figure everything out before I make a life changing decision.

Fellow int op signup here, you been to army.ca? It really does have some good stuff to check out regarding int, but for the other stuff I'd say check with your local RC. RC New West has been nothing but helpful with me since I put myself up for application, and it's been speeding along ever since.

My recruiter put it well when I was talking about my chances in int: "If you're not happy with infantry, why are you signed up for infantry?"
>>
>>29447837
Hey that's hilarious. The guy at the RC here in Toronto said something almost identical. "If you don't want infantry, don't put it on your application".

I had to reassure him I did want infantry if Int Ops wasn't going to be a realistic option for me.

How do you think you scored? Apparently even being allowed to apply for Int Ops is an achievement on its own. The lady processing my application kept raving about my score and the guy I talked to my second time back said my score was very competitive so I'm hoping they're not just bullshitting me and I have a real chance here.

What can you tell me about your talks with them? Did they let on you have a good shot at Int Ops?
>>
>>29447695

Once you get to battalion, PT in the morning, then whatever random GDs they have for you to do. Some days you'll be done by 13:00, other days not til 16:00. You'll do FTXs every once in a while, sometimes just a week long EX in Wainwright (if you're not a frenchie or a Chicken Fucker), sometimes a week or two in the north (Arctic Ram), or in the States (3 VP just had some guys get back from 29 Palms training with the USMC), then the big EXs like Maple Resolve every spring.

Courses depend on what your battalion and your company need. Some of my buddies got to battalion and within a week were off on their Jump course (were posted to B Coy, 3VP) or their LAV Drivers course if they were in a Mech Battalion.

So was I correct in that you can basically apply for any courses you're interested in and they will send you to do them if they feel there is time or need more people capable of doing those things?
>>
>>29448331
Don't know who does the secret squirrel shit, beyond the pointy end of it (CSOR, JTF, CJIRU etc.) I imagine the specializations are being trained in focusing on a certain topic for your intelligence briefs.

As for Infantry day to day, GDs can be working in the CQ, cleaning your shacks if you still live in shacks, inspections, parades... basically anything that nobody else wants to do. As a no-hook new guy at battalion, you get the shit end of the stick a lot.

As for applying for courses, that doesn't really happen til you have a few years in. Sometimes they'll ask your platoon or company who wants to go on a course that has some open slots, other times you'll get told you're going on a course whether you want it or not. Once you've been in for a few years and have gotten some rank, your file manager will actually know who you are, and can start helping you point your career in the direction you want to go.

Has anyone tried those cheap single barrel shotguns from Cornwin-arms before? Apparently they're Turkroach made but they are around $200 so it's pretty tempting if they'll actually work.
>>
>>29448317
That doesn't mean >>29448300 is wrong. Sure western democracy was founded on the concept of "natural rights" but that doesn't mean it makes and logical sense.
>>
>>29449626
The point of natural rights is that they exist and belong to everyone, regardless of whether or not the government recognizes it. It doesn't mean I will ignore laws, it means I disagree with the laws and general stance of the government and I'll fight to repeal said laws.
>>
Anyone know of a site that sells double break action shotguns? They don't seem to be as common as I thought.
>>
>>29449649
I understand that is the point of them, but there is no objective evidence to suggest that rights magically exist for everyone. Rights are an abstract social construct.
>>
>>29449653
Expect either low quality ones or super expensive ones. There is no middle ground on them, when they can be found. I know there are a few Norinco and Turkish models but nothing else until you get up to a few thousand.

the shorter and lighter a gun is the easier it is to carry around and aim all day. everyone pretends to preach that Chris Costa operator 0 super hyper extended support arm shit but the truth is it tires your arm out really quick. try holding your rifle aimed like that for 5 min straight, then do it all day every day, it's the same idea as a wall squat. the shorter rifle brings your support hand closer to your body while still getting your hand as far forward of its center of gravity as possible for leverage against recoil.
(that was worth the restricted class for me yes) I have enough NR shit

Does that style of brake actually do anything, or is just to focus the concussion downrange?
>>
>>29452819
Most linear brakes like the 74u flash hiders don't do much for recoil.
So basically a flash suppressor plus they cut down on noise near to the shooter. (Not to be confused with a suppressor they don't actually make the gun more quite.)

On a side note in the case of original 74u's they are used as a booster to help cycle the action.

>>
>>29453655

>>
>>29453626
Bit heavy on the recoil, but if that's what you want. The most common recommendation for a start would be a .22 which I honestly think is a waste of time and money. An SKS would probably be better to give you an idea of what shooting is like and let you practice, plus you could get one and a crate of ammo for cheaper than an M305
>>
>>29453719
>>29453626
If I started guns again I would buy a good quality .22lr first before the SKS. You can learn trigger control and marksmanship fundamentals much easier, especially since you can control the ammunition quality.

>>
>>29453825
When you're starting off it's just as important, if not more, to get down stance and get used to pulling the trigger compared to becoming an expert. And no, ammunition quality won't matter that much when you're starting out.
>>
>>29454541
You can't do the first two with a .22lr?
>>
>>29454648
Let's admit that .22 isn't quite the same as a centerfire calibre, especially one like .308 that the person who started this conversation wants to use. I started on x39 just fine, and most people these days start on that or .223. They were literally designed to be far easier to start on and learn, among other goals, by reducing recoil and cost.
>Plus .22 doesn't have all that much recoil or noise like centerfire ammo does, the experience isn't the same and may not be as enjoyable to start off on.

Is it possible to buy a non-restricted Swiss Arms Classic Green in this country anymore? My understanding of the situation is that they were switched back to NR last year, but the only models I can find anywhere are the 16" barrel restricted versions. I thought they were popular rifles, why wouldn't anyone have any? Are they worried now that Trudeau is in power he's going to have them re-prohibited?

I don't really get the sudden obsession people have with top rails. Yeah you get to choose your own sights, but usually you can do it anyways, and there are options to mount scopes regardless, but you lose out on the native sights which are usually, though not always, calibrated out of the box.

Silvercore (big-name firearms training school in BC) once had their shit pushed in by the RCMP. They didn't get salty over it. Many students who trained with them often do so as a requisite of joining the RCMP, and they were always supportive of their students.

The biggest thing to happen between Silvercore and the RCMP is that the RCMP recently apologized to them for the ruckus they caused. The RCMP actually making an official apology is something very rare and impressive.

It's perfectly ethical if the point is to keep you from having any kind of gun by making the laws arbitrary and nearly impossible to keep up with.

Custom orders usually means they import stuff they regularly don't stock. Email them for more info as it can easily take 6+ weeks for things to be imported.

Dude theres atleast 5 places if you don't live on one of the far ends of the provinces
>>
>>29432925
You don't have to stay in your province to do the CFSC, if it's closer to hope a provincial border then do it.

>friend texts me and says RCMP called him for interview
>check website
>"your license has been issued"

didnt know they worked on saturdays
>>
>>29467361
Congrats anon
Waiting for mine to arrive after it was issued was the longest week or so of my life
>Checking mail every day after I finished work
>One day it's suddenly there
>Didn't even finish going home to change or anything, just turned around and went and bought an 870
>>
>>29467361
Well they mail out everything the Friday after it's issued, so you might be in for a wait.
>>
does anyone here go to the range at shooters choice in waterloo? I'm a member at Bridgeport rod and gun and I fucking hate the people that go there. 300% fudds. I'm just wondering if its any better at colby
>>
>>29465186
reg force infantry is shit. join the air force and get transferrable skills. also you won't break your body that way. I spent 3 years in 1 RCR and hated it. switched to reserve and it's better. more like a hobby now

Now I'm imagining a guy in a suit going through his mail, freaking out over his newly issued PAL, and getting the fuck back in his car to drive to the nearest gun store.

>be gun store owner
>see sweaty, disheveled guy in a wrinkled suit barge in
>"GET ME A GUN"
>w-what for, sir?
>"I'MMA HAVE ME SUM FUN"
>o-okay, please don't hurt me
>this guy is clearly nuts, I should ask for his PAL and maybe that'll get him to back off
>he shows me his PAL
>it's still stuck to the letter from the RCMP
>ah, I see
>he walks out of the store cackling, while holding his new Remington 870
>>
>>29468794
Sorta close to be honest
They even noticed that my PAL was clearly brand new. I actually had to run to the bank to get my debit limit temporarily increased because it was 1.4K (870P with Scattergun Tech ghost ring and Surefire foreend)
No regrets
>>
>>29468794
Mine was pretty close. I nearly blew their door off its hinges to go buy an M305 when I got my PAL.
