>incredibly peaceful person, never been in a fight
>obsessed with weapons, and collect them/build them as much as possible

How is that? I have this obsession, yet I'm docile as hell.

Who cares?

I do, hence this thread.

It makes no sense. I love the look and feel of weaponry, but would never use it.
>>
I love planes, can geek out about them in all kinds of ways, but I'm not a pilot and don't have any particular plan to get a license to fly them nor the skills to work on or design them either. I just like looking at, reading about, and discussing them.
>>
>>29422644
I know this feel. Been in a few fights before, but only when I'm literally forced into it without any other options.
>>
I'm the same way. I mean, I don't have an issue using them in defense if I have to, but I'm pretty easygoing normally. In general I just like shooting paper targets and miscellaneous junk.
>>
>>29422644
I am exactly the same. I am against war in almost any circumstance and hope that I never have to kill anyone. But I am fascinated with guns and believe in having weapons and not needing them is better than needing weapons and not having them.
>>
I have this obsession with porn and naked chicks, yet I haven't had sex yet and don't really plan on leaving my house.
>>
>>29422644
Honestly, that's a good problem to have.
There's nothing wrong with being incredibly interested in weapons, yet having no interest in "using" them. Especially when you consider that there are far too many people that don't know shit about weapons, yet have an alarming level of interest in their use.

Actually, there might be something to that. I usually find that the more capable someone is of violence, the less likely they are to resort to violence. Then again, now that I live in a "culturally enriched" area, I see a lot of exceptions to that, so maybe it only holds true if the individual is SMART and capable.

>peaceful person
you say that now but don't let people pile up little things on you
>>
>>29422644
Because weapons are just as good to look at. They don't have to be used for there to still be a purpose of having them.
>>
>>29422644
Because guns are interesting as a machines, engineering things, like cars, planes, trains, ships.

No, of course not

Having an encyclopaedic knowledge of various types of weapons employed by former and current world powers created solely to maim; kill and cause as bodily suffering as humanly possible (WP, biochem/biological weapons) is COMPLETELY MENTALLY HEALTHY

Relax tough guy.

Knowledge is knowledge. Just like gearheads have an encyclopedic knowledge about every minute details about their favorite cars, or how a bird enthusiast sits patiently and documents all the personalities of all different species of birds he sees. How a historian knows the story of a whole nation from its birth, to all the bloody battles it's fought, to its eventual downfall.

Point is: Everyone has their favorite subject they like to study, just because it's weapons related doesn't mean their mental health is compromised. Books exist for almost every piece of material in the world. wanting to learn and expand is the work of scholars, not loonies.

I'd say it's a non-issue, OP. Nothing wrong with learning about your hobby. I'm pretty mild-tempered and I love firearms history.

>not having an autistically-comprehensive knowledge of gats
Why are you here?

guns are just pieces of metal, its up to the individual to project their thoughts about them. I literally just think guns are cool and murder or war never even crosses my mind when I'm thinking of a gun, it's just a machine to me. I fully support the right to self defense with firearms but then again that's not a violent thought either, unless you presume all violence is wrong and unjustified.

I actually came from a very liberal household, and still consider myself a pacifist and transcendentalist.

When I was 13, I became very intrigued with the inner-workings of firearms and the engineering/mechanics of them. As I grew older, I became more attatched to both the entertainment aspects, as well as the political ideology surrounding firearms.

I still am very peaceful, I even mediate daily. I believe in nonviolence whenever applicable, but nonviolence isn't always an option.

Guns are simply tools, pieces of metal, wood, or plastic formed to do a job. That job may be shooting paper targets or it may be protecting a family from criminals. A tool should not define the person behind it, nor should the person define the tool. A gun fires a projectile at a high velocity, and this can be used by both heroes and villans. I find guns as great tools of equality. They can make someone who is disabled or weak stronger than any athlete on the planet. They can also be used to oppress the innocent.

That's why I'm a great believer in knowledge of firearms, and personal carry. The more people who are informed about firearms means less people will be inclined to use them wrongly.

op. your like me. I mean no harm to anyone, but i love the design of my ak, and other guns. I also proudly carry my 9mil everytime i leave home.
I love guns. but am peaceful

So?

I've never been in a fight and am not a hostile or violent person, but I still find guns and weapons interesting. Partially because the engineer in me loves seeing how they work.

I'm from australia and am just a general hacker nerd (not hax0ring all your megahertz, the traditional sense of making hardware do stuff it's not designed to. You could make a toaster out of a computer and technically be a hacker). My love for how hardware works drove me to a simple, yet elegant, piece of hardware: guns. I'm a lefty. I don't see myself every owning weapons like you guys do (laws and paying for it underground will cost like 9x the price). Maybe a hunting rifle since that's all I'll legally be able to get, but that's it. But I like guns. It's interesting. It's different. Just like how some people paint or make music or twerk for werk, it's a hobby. Maybe a lifestyle if you're feeling dramatic.

that's all there is to it.

I know because I'm the same way

Your not alone. I cant go a month without building some form of weapon/armor but I'm as nonviolent as they come. I pride myself on talking my way out of any fight and running faster than those slipping in my shit. However like a raccoon you never want to corner me. Years of graveyard shift in a rowdy neighborhood has left me with a skill set of non escalating conflict management. No one ever guessed that happy go luck goofball behind the counter had access to a small arsenal tactically placed in a strategic line of fallback points throughout his store. Never met anyone worthy of my wrath and I deal with a lot of people. Im more amused at the intimidation game, like monkeys at the zoo.

True power is knowing what you can do. Then making the choice not to do it.
