A place for the guns from the best gunsmith of all time. Pic extremely related.

>Not paying a gunsmith $50 to disable that shit
>Blaming JM Browning for shit the Eurocucks insisted he include
I've been eyeing up those $400 milsurp hi-powers that have been showing up on gunbroker. What's /k/'s opinion on them?
>>29422507
Same boat here. I am very interested.
You retards don't know how easy it is to remove a disconnect lol
>>29422402
>paying someone to remove a pin that takes two minutes to take out with a hammer and punch
>>29422507
>>29422596
I have one of the Jew Brownings from Aim Surplus. Runs great, accurate, with only a little bit of sand and children's blood in the safety.

>Paying a gunsmith $50 to do watch and copy a 2 minute video on youtube.

I got an FEG HiPower someone parkerized off of Gunbroker for $450 a few months back.
Haven't had an issue with it so far, biggest complaint is that the parkerization job is pretty shit and flaking off at any contact points.
Post hipowers everyone
Love my hi-point
>best gunsmith ever
>just copied what the Czechs had already made
This may sound like a troll bait but I honestly don't understand why would anyone like the Hi-Power
>shit sights
>heavy
>13rds
>mag safety
>hard to reach safety and slide stop
>single action only
>shit trigger
>No aftermarket customizing options
>mediocre accuracy
>no historic value and not rare so it's not worth shit
>not ambidextrous
>complicated disassembly
>>29423830
>>shit sights
Military sights
>>heavy
Like every steel frame pistol
>>13rds
It's an old single stack
>>mag safety
Can be taken out
>>hard to reach safety and slide stop
If you have woman hands
>>single action only
So?
>>shit trigger
Not after taking out the mag disconnect
>>No aftermarket customizing options
muh red dot sight
>>mediocre accuracy
Patently false
>>no historic value and not rare so it's not worth shit
Bahahaha
>>not ambidextrous
Do you complain that Lugers and BARs aren't ambi?
>>complicated disassembly
Not really
3/10 I bit. Not every gun has to be a double stack CC utilitarian design to appreciate it.
>>29423830
stop trying to force copypasta.
ot at least write a better one.
>>29423875
You stupid monkey.
The BHP was one of the first DOUBLE stack guns ever
Lol hi power. That's cute. Which handgun is god tier?
>>29423875
The browning hi power is double stack you fucking retard. Besides you can get flush 15 rounders from mecgar. Faggot
>>29423897
The C96 was double stack and proceeded it by over 30 years. One of the first "traditional configuration" double stacks, maybe.
>>29423582
now this is some high quality bait.
Also, I have a more technical question, what exactly gives the Hi Power its durability issues in terms of the life of its slide? Also, how come some of its technology never went anywhere? It didn't need a barrel bushing and the barrel didn't have a link the way the 1911 did, and it was a much more simple design. Did other designers not know that these components were better at the time, or were the patents on them tied up with FN just like the patents on the 1911 were tied up with Colt?
>>29422507
Get one. I wish I could.
>shit sights
Miltiary sights
>heavy
No heavier than a similarly sized steel frame pistol
>13rds
If you're stuck in the 80s and S T I L L haven't picked up any flush 15 round mags that have been available for decades, sure
>mag safety
Remove it in literally 5 minutes
>hard to reach safety and slide stop
u wot m8 they're piss easy to reach
>single action only
How is this bad? SA hammer fired guns are great.
>shit trigger
My surplus BHP has a heavy trigger with zero creep and a very clean break. It's far from shit. I wish it were lighter but outside from that it's a good trigger.
>No aftermarket customizing options
Compared to Glocks or 1911s, no, but that's the same with every pistol that isn't a Glock or 1911. There's plenty of aftermarket stuff out there.
>mediocre accuracy
Combat accuracy, more than adequite for what it is used for. I have no problems hitting a pie plate at 50 yards with mine.
>no historic value and not rare so it's not worth shit
gr8 b8 on that historic value thing, it isn't like it was adopted by like 60 countries throughout the world and saw wide spread use in every single war since WWII
>not ambidextrous
Neither are plenty of other pistols
>complicated disassembly
>Pull back slide
>Lock slide with takedown notch with safety
>Pop out slide catch
>Remove slide
>Remove spring and barrel
So hard
>>29422507
Mine was a $400 Israeli police surplus I bought at a semi-local Cabela's.
I paid $20 for some replacement springs and $150 for a Cerakote job (wish I could have kept it as is but there was some internal rust I wanted taken care of) so for a total of $570 I have this.
In the colder months I carry it on a daily basis. This pistol is my favorite I've ever owned.
>>29423935
Frame and slide issues we're mostly a materials/heat treat thing.
Everything but the trigger mechanisms carried over to later guns but yeah, patents we're a bitch unless you we're Czech or Spanish. That why the HP isn't just a double stack 1911, he had to work around his own patents and improve things. As retarded as it is to say the cz75 is a clone because it looks vaguely similar, by that logic any doublestack 9 with a tilting barrel is a HP clone.
>>29422382
what is the problem ?
you really get a huge need to fire a single round from a pistol with no mag in it?
or are you worried that kill fitting mags will keep it from work, or that you will ham fist your grip and accidentally push the mag release button?
http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?item=F1FNHP
this good deal?
Which hi powers are FN made, desirable, and affordable?
>let me pretend I belong here
>chambered in .380 polymer framed 1911
>>29424972
how are those things compared to real Hi Powers?
>>29424979
I'm too poor ti have handled a real hi power but I like my FEG. I kinda lucked out from what I've seen
>military sights but there's clearly dots on them that I'll fill in
>got the extended safety
>finish isn't too worn
>obvious pitting and occasional small rust spots
I may have a gunsmith friend strip it down and reblue it for me depending on what he wants to charge. I also need wood grips.
I heard someone talk about cracked barrels but when I googled it the majority of the results were about actual brownings.
>>29424654
>spelling "were" as "we're"
>assume it's just a simple typo
>does it a second time

It conflicts with you trying to share information in a polite manner, so either you've successfully trolled softly, or you are really fucking illiterate.

nigteen eleven
>>29424796
It makes the trigger pretty nasty. Easy fix, but that bugs some people.
I almost want to plop down a grand for a new shiny one.
Almost.
>>29425031
Go for some g-10 gunner grips
>>29422363
I really want a Hi-Power but I can't justify spending $900 on a new one.
What do I do?
>>29426358
Buy a milsurp one. $400.
>>29426358
FEGs are usually pretty cheap, that or buy used
>>29426371
>>29426375
Are there any websites that usually have Hi-Powers in stock?
>>29426384
Classic had a run last year, pretty sure they're out, might want to look into southernohiogun, they might have some. Other then those two, I'm not really sure of any places but gunbroker
>sexist handgun on Earth
My 21st is in August and I love the Hi-Power, what do you guys think of a surplus Hi-Power from AIM as a first handgun?
>>29426517
They're out of stock. Your best bet to find one are gun stores in your area and Gun Broker.
>>29425077
Probably phone autocorrect. Your being unreasonable, chill out - were worried about you.
>>29426535
Aim has then in stock right now.
>>29427272
Boner status: full mast.
>>29422363
Can someone hit me with some history of the Browning Hi-Power?
Bought the last "good" one classic had. Sorry not sorry?

>>29427396
>>29427411
God damn, call me a faggot but I really love engraved guns.
>>29428189
Commissioned by French military and ultimately turned down
Browning started work on it but died in 1926
His patents on the 1911 hadn't expired yet but belonged to Colt so he couldn't use any of them
Design is picked up by Dieudonne Saive at FN, whom Browning did a lot of work for, this guy would later design the FAL
Patents expire, Saive completes the design
Oh shit a World War!
Saive and the design plans are smuggled into allied hands because the Wehrmacht is approaching Belgium o shit
A few Hi-Powers are produced under Nazi occupation, the Waffen-SS loved them
Design later goes on to be one of the most popular handguns in the world everywhere except the US
>>29428371
They make great collection pieces. Always feel too nice to shoot.
>Tfw no Nighthawk Custom Hi-Power
Step aside, JMB's greatest design comin' through
>>29423572
mmm, now thats nice. Who made that safety?
>>29427272
Seriously, what kind of finish is that? I want it...

Ah nothing like coming back to a thread half a day later just to see some faggot sperging about apostrophes while adding fuck all to the conversation. I am in fact using a new keyboard on my phone as many of us do. I'm gonna go ahead and suggest that you either learn to calm down or you visit a doctor to discuss your condition. Just because Denis Leary has made it this far doesnt mean you don't pop your own heart by being such an easily triggered fuck.
Anyway Jim Garthwaite is the shit and God bless cylinder and slide for making BHP parts
