How much should it protrude? Is pic related good? Just bought this rifle and I can't find any info on the firing pin protrusion. Type 99 btw
Why would you buy a Japanese rifle?

It should portrude far enough that you can shove it up your ass.

Is the striker released, or is it pulled back?
Should be fine as long as the striker is still under tension.

If you can figure out the rimming of the cartridge, sure. Making standardized rifles was not the Jap's strong point.

Strongest mass issue military bolt action ever?
>>29418199
It's not a Mosin: you don't measure the firing pin protrusion.
If it doesn't stick out when cocked, and doesn't pierce primers when you fire it, rifle is fine.

The correct answer is about 55 thou.

My answer is correct for people that don't own calipers and aren't autists.

your answer is for people whose guns spontaneously disassembled themselves.

So any type 99 owner

Jeff Cooper filled shells with RDX and shit and they didn't pop, I don't think a couple punched primers will stop it.
