it's the most powerful commonly available semi auto caliber that fits in a normal sized grip
nothing wrong with it per se but it's unimpressive to shoot compared to magnum revolvers, and the slight power boost doesn't trump the .45acp edge in ammo price, availability, and variety

If you buy in bulk its no more expensive than .45acp, but its cheaper to reload because .40 cal bullets are cheaper than .45, unless you cast your own lead bullets (which I don't).

Thereby negating the recoil you previously mentioned while still having adequate performance due to using the same projectile as similarly loaded .40S&W with the same capacity.As far as real estate goes the only argument you could have presented there would have involved larger grip frames.
You could have argued that there aren't enough 10mm on the market but 3 most popular platform are covered in by 10mm 1911s in govt and commander sizes in various price ranges, revolvers in various brands and poly strikers in full and sub compact by block.

I have one, I carry 10mm JHP for personal defense, I carry Hard Caste 10mm for woods defense, and I practice with .40S&W.
I don't have to change anything about the gun including the mags.
.40S&W is literally 10mm short and I've successfully put >1k rounds of .40S&W through my 10mm glock over the course of a few years.
