I'm not from /k/ normally so forgive me for a dumb question but these are utterly retarded right? I'm really struggling to the practical application.
>>
>>29377561

They seem to be okay at moving money from idiots to companies than sell gun accessories.
>>
Still needs a light. Maybe they can make one that mounts under pistol bayonets
>>
>>29377561
I mean. .. gun fights often take place at pistol ranges, for civies anyhow. And, pressing the barrel to an enemy can push the slide out of battery. So, I guess it's not the worst idea.

I'd rather have a light/LAM though.

Pretty useless unless your in the trenches of WW1
>>
>>29377561
Surely you'd have no strength at all with the thrust unless you're holding it with both hands, in which case you might as well just be shooting.

I can certainly say I need to bring a knife to a gun fight but having it on your pistol seems to be a crappy version of both.

Can't really fight, can't really shoot.

How practical is the two handed knife gun technique big boss is so fond of in RL?
>>
>>29377748
Not practical at all.
>>
>>29377748
Practical? Possible.

Ever going to be useful? Ridiculously unlikely.
>>
>>29377737
I think a properly sharpened knife is more of a finesse tool than say a short sword or a baton. Though using both hands would work for power assisted cuts I think the weight of the gun alone plus a razor blade and your gunarm would be just as good. you can use your offside arm for trapping in extreme cqb
>>
>>29377748
Actually, crkt makes a knife that has been advertised to be used just like the MGS fame intended. It's a very small double bladed dagger. Almost looks like a kunai or push blade
>>
>>29377967
>>29377748

>>
>>29377561
Useful if you want to use your gun as a steak knife I guess

Or duracoat something to look like it's from borderlands

Yeah, it was the first knife i bought. It was nice but too pricey. The kydex sheath it comes with is the bomb and its really small.

I might get one again. I like fixed blades. I rock a crkt m16 tanto now like a real ninja

You need giant fucking hands and a very thin knife and pistol. Even then it's dildos. The closest we'll probably ever see is something like pic related, a very small "oh fuck get the hell off me nigger" type of knife that's small enough for you to get to your real weapon in the fight as soon as possible.
>>
Are you supposed to carry your handgun either CC or OC with this stupid ass thing attached or do they think you'll have enough motor skills to mount this thing when you're fighting for your life?

That was rhetorical of course. What they really expect is for a bunch of retards to buy these with no intention of one ever really being used.
>>
>>29377748
Other than the previously mentioned SOCP knife this is the only other source I've seen something approaching this that someone actually advocated for

The only application I can ever think of is a HD pistol. You leave the scabbard on and unseat it when shut goes down.

That's assuming it's even a decent product that can stand up to its designed purpose. I can't be assed to even watch a video on that, I just can't be brought to care.

I agree that one would need a slimmer knife, but remember that the 1911 Naked Snake was carrying had shaved down the left hand grip so that the knife fit into a small grove. That would make a difference in how awkward that position would feel.

I don't think it would make an appreciable difference in deploying the knife easier, but it would make carrying in that fashion a little less awkward.

I'd still think it would fuck off your master grip though.

They've actually been around for some time, think there was some dating back to the US Civil war, definitely some in ww1 as >>29377730 has dug up and sometimes... well sometimes they made officers buy their swords in WW2 and shenanigans like (attached pic) happened. Because there's always that ONE FUCKING GUY in every damn officer school who's a complete knob end.
Personally, I don't want a lot of shit hanging off a pistol, maybe a sighting system at the most and preferably as small/light as possible.
I think a knife blade/baby bayonet is going to make the weapon harder to draw quickly, will probably damage the holster and I'll run the risk of damaging myself in the process, which would be very funny for the opponent and they might die from their sides splitting.

Plus the blade itself, it looks about 2-2.5" long, which is really good for skinning animals, but for something you're going to kill people with because its not a tickling competition, you want about minimum of 5" of blade length to get down and nasty into some vital organs. Stabbing people in hearts, lungs, kidneys and other arteries will stop someone eventually, slicing them to bits with a a little blade is just going to make for a lot of screaming, blood and if you're going to that much trouble, you would have been better off spending that time reloading and shooting them a bit more.

So, to conclude. Bring a knife to a gunfight, just don't hang it off your pistol.
Better still, bring a rifle to a gunfight and if you really feel the enemy will fear some cold steel, hang a bayonet off your rifle.
>>
>>29377561
If it HAS to have a practical application, then you're as bad as the gun grabbers themselves.
>>
>>29381576
exactly. Also, it doesn't NEED to have an application. Its a fucking gun. This is america. let me have what i want.
>>
>>29380443
Hell if I know. I think it's a retarded idea, but it is apparently an idea.
>>
>>29377996

What if you were holding the knife like the cops do with the flashlight in the movies. Knife pointing down in left hand. Pistol hand resting on your wrist pointing at dindus. I mean, if you already have a light on your hi point, why wouldn't it work?

So I understand the issue of having your slide pushed if the guy is right up in your face, but why would you not just bring the gun in to your body with other hand trying to push the guy away and magdump from that position?
>>
>>29382659
there's the potential to shoot your own hand, but your suggestion would still be effective.
>>
>>29382659
Pull the gun in too close and the slide hits you. You get one round, which SHOULD be enough to get them off you, but if you're attacker is dedicated or on drugs it could end badly for you.
>>
>>29382575
Type 14's aren't as terrible as say, the Type 94 (which will try to kill you), they're shooting a pretty anaemic round in them though that might frighten bunnies so you're probably better off with the sword in that regard.
Grandfather bought two of them back in WW2 and they where kind of 'meh' in terms of build quality though, really fucking rough. My conclusion is that the japs just didn't give a fuck about pistols full stop.

>>29382594
Dunno mate, I've never seen it. Can't have been cheap though for the officer at the time.

It actually doesn't look *too* stupid to me, you can handle it without any issue but it would might hurt more if you had to hit someone with it.

these just keep the barrel from going out of battery.

>>
>>29377561
I bought one as a joke, but when nogunz ask me why I have a pistol bayonet I usually say one of two things based on my mood...

1- Nothing is more humiliating than being stabbed with a handgun...or
2- There is no better way to let someone know they're not even worth the costof a bullet.
