I'm thinking a belt set up for most of his shit, but a really low hanging chest rig with 3 p90 mags. Those fuckers are tall and fit well in taco mags, but bending side to side caused interference

>mfw no bag sizable for CRITICAL CLS GEAR>all this gear
>mfw its more gear than I would carry on any patrol

Please let me time you as you perform care under fire, transition to tactical field care, and end with tactical evacuation care. I want to see MARCHE performed properly, proper CAT utilization, an NPA, chest seal, NCD, Combat gauze, ETB and splint in place.
Then fill out a 9line and MIST report
In under 15min if you can't do ALL of that why the fuck would you have an IFAK?

You guys are so fucking weird. My gearqueer squad leader doesn't carry half this shit, save for the IFAK and RFI / company issued shit

>people want to own first aid kits
The acrponyms are basic as fuck. I'm no doc but a CLS class and actual fuckimg hands on knowledge is all it takes

There is training that needs to happen if this aid kit will do anything useful
On the battlefield (or any situation where one is needed) everyone has minimum 3 CATs aka tornequitte. It takes 2 to stop a leg wound. They should also know how fro apply one coerrecrly and know to reassess the TQ everytime they move a casualty or themselves .

Each IFAK has minimum 2 chest seal, you have to seal sucking chest wounds with them in order to prevent tension pneumo

Each IFAK has a NCD needle chest decompressant its a 14 gauge 3,25" needle used between 2nds and third rib straight down from middle of collar bones, it relieves tension pneumo

Each IFAK has combat gauze its used to pack a wound (toward heart) in junctional areas like neck, armpit, groin, or limbs that still bleed

Each IFAK has tape to tape everything down

Each IFAK has an NPA nasal pharangeal airway it is inserted bevelled side in right nostril toward septum measured and cut the length of nose to ear

please don't get that setup. The only thing I trust from Condor are pouches. And even then they are hit or miss. I actually have their tear away IFAK and it's actually decent for what you get. I also got a double stack AR mag pouch and it was mis-shapen, threads everywhere, and the MOLLE started to sag after taking the thing out once. Like I said, pouches are most of the time, you get an occasional lemon, but avoid their load bearing stuff like the black plague. It will break on you and you're gonna have a bad time.

mic is rather finnicky - gotta be tight and positioned right, and at that point it begins to feel like somebody's gently choking me out. That said, the earpiece works well, and the voice quality on the other end is intelligible. Shit cost $14, what can I say

Handgun on the belt is an FNS-40 with 2 spare 14 round mags. Back up on the rig is a G26 with a spare 33 round mag, 17 round pmag, and a 10 round emergency mag in one of the rig's side pockets

Nice, I just got my UV-82HP last night, I'm using a shoulder mic with an audio out in it, from there it goes to my Howard Leights. I'm working out a stereo/ mono issue right now so it comes through both ear pieces and not just the left side.

I'm kinda in the market for a new handgun, I have an SR9 which I love, shoots like a dream. It just doesn't feel rugged enough. I'm OK with it for a CCW but not something I want to gear up with. I'm debating between an FNS-9, G19, and oddly enough a Canik TP-9.

Nice set up with the Leights - electronic earpro is the tits, and comms are crucial

I'm a bit of a loprofag and really love me some Surefire EP4's. Was surprised to see Haley using them in his Adaptive Carbine video
>enjoy that awkwardness/potato quality

You can't go wrong with the FNS or the glock. I can see why the TP9 would be tempting.

>galil
They are so pricey I'll never own one probably. Why live?
>>
>>29367228
And I should elaborate:

The EP4's are like a passive, battery-less version of electronic earpro. They cut off sounds above a certain threshold while still permitting conversational levels to be heard.

I like that they're practically invisible and require no batteries

>>29363873
Chest seals aren't hard, just take a piece of plastic, put it over the wound, then tape it down on 3 sides. Leave the 4th side open to allow air to escape.

NCDs aren't too hard either, but unless you're military you won't get to use that skill in the field. Civilian EMS isn't allowed to do em and the ER has better options

As for learning how to do em. Chest seals you can probably learn in a basic first aid course. Needle chest decompressions are gonna require an MD degree or military service
>>
>>29367243
they even have some kind of tube opening thing that allows you to use comms, like secret service ear piece type things. Ive never tried it but its cool as fuck.

>Have you shot any of them yet? What's your build/hand size?

I haven't yet, one of the reason I'm kind of up in the air. I know every time I hold a Glock it just doesn't feel right, too square. But I'm tempted by that after market and "muh Glock reliability". I mean I don't have imp hands I don't think. My Camelback gloves are mediums and I usually wear size large latex gloves. I start with mediums in the Camelbacks as they seem to stretch out.

I was leaning towards the TP9 SA, the stripped down single action only model without the striker release up top. I've read a lot of good things, but have yet to see one in person. It could be total cheap ass shit.

Its dependent on County. Each county will have its own set of protocols. Where I live the county has super strict protocols, doesn't let anyone do anything. Where I used to work, medics had over 140+ Drugs they could use and could literally do almost anything, because it was 1hour+ to the nearest hospital.

Think they're only maybe $15. Should last forever if you keep em clean (which is very easy - soak em in hot water). Such a small footprint that, not only have I slipped a spare pair into my chest rig, but I've even carried them in my edc on occasion

>>29367318
Your hands are probably slightly larger than mine. My FNS and glock both shoot beautifully, but the FNS feels much better in the hand. Plus it came standard with tritium night sights.

Not denying glock's rep or reliability - hell I don't even mind the aesthetics or ergos that bad. But the FNS is a beautiful, incredibly robust weapon that just feels right

>worrying about tension pneumothorax in a civilian kit
The guy will be in an ambulance in 15 minutes, hospital in 20, tension isn't going to kill him. If these guys have 2 CATs, a pressure bandage and some gauze then they're more prepared then everyone other than the EMTs. Those items are not hard to use and take minimal training (my wife learned how to use it in a college first aid course), and will stop the only immediate threat to life after being shot ie blood loss. Everything else can be handled by EMTs.

Stop being such a fucking try hard, boot.

If you are using multiple rifles, yes. They work with p90 mags, ar15, ak, 7.62, the works. Not alot of pouches can do this, and not alot can do it with open top retention. The draw, retention, and holster of mags is nice.
You can even put kwyi in for even better retention.
But tacos are thicker than most magazine pouches. So double stacks are THICK. They're expensive, and the lips at the top are sharp. That can be annoying. I like my tacos, especially in my chest rig. But I'm not buying anymore, because I shoot ar15 and thats it.

So,
>shoot more than one rifle? Buy it.
>like how they look? Buy it. They looking fucking nice.
>need the best mag pouches for ar15? Skip it. Better mag pouches exist.

Right. I'm always a bit scared to see guys who are all like "I took a CLS class, I totally got this tension pneumothorax thing down!". I've seen people in CLS classes stab the dummy. No thanks. I don't trust anybody who wasn't an actual medic or civilian medical worker to do anything that invasive.

Chest seals for anything on the torso. Hy-Fin or Asherman are stupid simple and not invasive.

Tourniquets high & tight in limbs. I'd carry as many as I could to slap more on in case the first attempts were fuckity.

Gauze + ACE/elastic wrap + gloves for finger banging into transitional zone wounds.

Add some buddy tabbed medical tape and call it good. Anything more is impractical. Especially when I see guys carrying a, like, size 28fr NPA and no lube. No dude, I don't want you trying to jam that into my brain because "It's helping".

K.I.S.S and understand your own limits.

I'd say an npa is important to have and know how to use. Bleeding is #1, but breathing is super important and lack of oxygen is something that can kill before EMTs are on site.

I've had one applied on me, and I've applied one twice. That's not the best training ever, and there's a good chance I'd fuck it up in combat, but I still try to have one in my ifaks.

think what you see is actually an EOD breacher bar. Has a sheath that I've stuffed down there - it's wrapped in a few rubber hands to serve as a friction 'lock'

Ultimately, it's not shredding anything, but I only recently got some more USGI mags that will fit in with pmags (see middle ammo pouch - pmag resting above/behind a USGI)

Glock mag is optional too I guess, but keeping a 33 rounder is...obligatory? temping at least for sure ha

I know it's a slightly odd set up, but I prefer to keep the chest rig self contained. I'd throw it on pretty much over everyday, casual edc wear/equipment (cobra belt, carry piece, folder, maybe a fixed blade). I don't run much on my belt besides a gun though. Pockets are dump pouches kinda mentality
>>
>>29367712
Yup, that makes way more sense. Thanks for clearing that up.

Anyone know a good starter battle belt that won"t break the bank? just need to attach a couple extra AK mags, P226, and a couple of those mags.
>>
>>29367648
No, im not getting anything confused. HE said Civilian side EMS cannot do NCD's. He absolutely wrong about that. There are no National Protocols for either EMT or PARA. There are national guidelines that must be included in protocols. Its delegated to each state and then further to counties to write protocols. Each County has medical directors from the hospitals that convene and decide who can do what.
>>
>>29367758
I got an ATS belt from SKD and ran a Cobra I already had through it. Like $40 for the ATS plus the cost of whatever rigging belt.

Currently I'm picking up a no frills cop style duty belt for like $12 so I can carry just a pistol, pistol mags, and a single rifle mag. Cheap, but no MOLLE.

You could always go full nostalgia with a surplus cheap pistol belt too.
>>
>>29367777
You know, I misread EMS as EMT in >>29367252.

I tend to avoid calling anyone a medic on the civilian side because it leads to confusion. I guess being wrong is what I get for not reading and making assumptions.

>>
>>29367900
I didnt mean to come off as a dick, but I work in ems as a medic, and its imperative that we are super clear, and kind of assholes to EMTs. There are numerous great EMTS. Alot of them are fat volunteer firefighters that want to save the fucking day and don't know shit.
>>
>>29367900
Whats even more confusing is a combat medic technically is only an EMT (Certified) once they get out of the military.
>>
>>29367979
Which is exactly why I, a 68w, never refer to myself as a medic in a civilian context.

I am looking at moving over to the paramedic side of things. Any pitfalls I should be aware of?
>>
>>29367927
Malice clips and other systems are awesome because they're replaceable. The #1 reason pouches become unusable and discarded inna army is the snap button or molle strap breaking. If that system is replaceable, then it's a $2 replacement rather than a $20 new pouch.

It also weaves better into pain in the ass 6/12 because they're more narrow than usgi molle straps.

But, malice clips break. There's a fucking hinge, and that sucks. They haven't broken on me yet. But they will.

Your basically going to know everything about trauma, and it will give you false confidence. Ive seen it several times with various guys transitioning. Basically, be open to being wrong, and understand there are very few "Immediate life or death" scenarios stateside. (In comparison to a warzone). When it comes to medical stuff (non trauma) you will have a lot to learn, just understand your knowledge level, don't be afraid to be wrong and ask lots of questions. Stuff we are ok with doing to our troops is not ok to do to granny smith. Thats another big one too lol. Thats probably the biggest pitfall. You need to relearn trauma, and include people off all ages and sizes. You don't use the skin or muscles as index points, only bone. AKA when you use the nipple for NDC you are wrong. It only works on military males, not land whales. I guess thats all i can think of off the top of my head. hope this helps

I'm pretty sure most people here can too. I put together a decent kit with stuff I've had laying around and other stuff I've gotten for free. Total, I don't think it cost me more than $50 bucks.

Also, I think the picture is just just pointing out some of the basic necessities.
>>
>>29371723
You can spend $100 on a Beez plate carrier, and the rest on Condor pouches which would hold you over for the time being.

no way you can fit meds or armor in with $150. but lots of options that won't instantly become useless after you upgrade

That shit isn't even the basics tho. Adding in a PC automatically takes it out of poorfag territory too.

how well does the rig work with AK mags?
>>
>>29372145
they're 74 mags but it works fairly well, you can stack the front 4 mag pouches at your waist with rounds down, I found it best to do rounds up on the hip pouches if you wanna double stack mags.
>>
>>29372180
thanks, been thinking about getting one, i love my M83 vest and i figured it would be a good next buy, any other pace to get em besides kommando store?

I just got into guns and have literally no gear.

I own two guns and that's a slr 107 and a 92fs plus a 4 magazines for each gun. Not really sure where to start any tips?
>>
>>29372215
there's some SA auction sites but the shipping will set you back quite a bit. NE is still probably your best bet.

>>29372240
armor/no armor, how many mags do you plan to carry, anything else like meds, comms, water
>>
>>29372240
I don't have them saved, does anybody have Faulkner's gearfag infographics?
>>
>>29372240
Want to have a belt, battle belt, chest rig, or plate carrier? I think the best option to start would be a rigid 'riggers cobra belt' ($40) with a holster ($30-40), and a chest rig like the D3CR ($180). Could get you a decent setup for ~$250.

If you decide to get a plate carrier (such as the mayflower APC) later on, you can throw the chest rig on there.
>>
Help anons. What do I do with empty mags? What is the solution?
>>
>>29372240
First thing you need is a sling for the rifle and holster for the pistol. Really a standard milsurp AK sling will do fine, I really like the leather G3 surplus slings on my rifles personally. You can get a nicer one of course, magpul makes good, reasonably priced ones. For the holster, don't cheap out. Luckily the 92 has a metric fuck ton of options. Blade Tech and Raven Concealment are my top two suggestions. For the AK, a chest rig is where I suggest you start. The Chinese ones work pretty well, sadf ones are great, or you can get something like a tactical tailor or Haley strategic chest rig for a bit more with a lot more options. I suggest the sadf chest rig because it's simple, bulletproof, and will let you figure out what you do and don't like without breaking the bank. You need to take a CLS class or learn from someone who has (I learned from my friends who are almost all ex mil and/or EMT so I got to save some money with that). A good belt is needed as well, 5.11 and ARES makes good shit for good prices. Pistol mag pouches are pretty easy, raven concealment makes great kydex ones, but even cheap milsurp ones work fine.

Avoid condor, voodoo, red rock, and such. They use good materials but skimp on stitching and quality control and really aren't that much cheaper than the cheapest gear that won't fail you.

I use an SADF battle jacket so mine get dropped into the left hand canteen pouch. A dump pouch is a good idea since you don't need a battle belt to rock it, and it takes up little space and weight. You can always drop or stow them in empty pouches depending on how you decide you should train.

>Ordered G-Code holster a month ago

That's what I get for going right to the maker and not trying to get one from a dealer.

Currently making do with a Blackhawk! SERPA auto-lock. Tonight I set up the paddle for going on my vest's pistol belt.

Also going to get a new sling mount for my shotgun to make it more MS3 friendly than it is now.
>>
>>29372619
What rifle mag pouches are on the vest?
>>
>>29372347
This is prob your best bet. Or a South African chest rig and slick is cheaper and probably as good.
>>
How long does Blade Tech take to make a holster??

why would you not get the open top kangaroo ones? They're actually pretty awesome, like $16 Prime and they're solid. Can't really see how they would fail other than the bungee cord unraveling, in which case you could just reapply it with some paracord or something. DESU if you put something solid like a Blackhawk speed strip in the front molle it has a really good amount of retention to where you dont even need the bungee on the front.
Have them in this pic

>Not seeing an issue

I did when I originally tried that. The ones I had were too small to allow for AK mags.

I literally have nothing bad to say about what I've got. If I'm ever inclined to put open-top pouches on the vest again, I'll probably get TACOs anyway. I love the ones I have.
>>
>>29372849
Bullets on top. I'm seeing lots of issues.
>>
>>29372901
I plan on getting Tacos for my belt, but my $15 a pair quickmag clones work pretty damn well so i'm hanging onto that

>>29372918
If you put them in the other way, the mag catch gets caught on it. Definitely not optimal, but I've run around with AK mags in and they stay in pretty well. Havnt had one drop yet

Stuff that I pulled out of the bulk vest accessories bin at my local milsurp store. Personally, I don't like it and have been looking for a new MOLLE compatible vest.

Which fleck shirt is that? All i have is some pants and a parka that's way too long to ever be practical.
>>
>>29368927
Don't, they suck and are over priced. I had one for 2 years that I wore for work every day. Not worth the money and kind of a gimmicky setup.
