perhaps a ruger MKII/III or 22/45 integrally suppressed?

Why?

just another interesting option to consider.

i own a MKII and its my favorite gun by far. i can shoot circles around any of my rifles with it.

None of the above. S&W 2206

Interesting, how's the disassembly and assembly? How's the noise suppressing?

>>29359618
Why?
>>
>>29359634
mine isnt suppressed. just a stock MKIII HUNTER
when i first got it disassembly was a but of a bitch due to tight clearances. once you strip it a few times it gets quite a bit easier.

for suppressing . . . it depends on the suppressor. i could only hear the cycling on a AWC amphibian, so pretty fucking quiet. other than AWC i dont know who else makes suppressed barrels
word of caution: last i read the AWC amphibian II was built in such a way that you cant disassemble the barrel/suppressor BUT the aftermarker barrels from AWC did have that ability. no idea what that dumbshit is about.

Interesting, is it true you have to hammer the barrel out? I have seen some videos of disassembly.

quite true, at first. still have a cheap plastic mallet in my gun care box from when i needed it. i can get the barrel off now with a good thump of my palm. keep in mind that you mar not need to remove the barrel every time you clean. mine stays pretty clean as long as i use copper jackets.

what about accuracy, firepower and cleaning?

accuracy for me is amazing. i group the same with it as i do with my scoped 10/22 standing.
firepower? 10 rounds and im fairly sure no one makes anything with a higher cap (single stack and all).
cleaning is a little easier than say a 1911 after it loosens up a bit, with the exception is the loaded chamber indicator. that stupid thing is a gunk trap. the MKII didnt have it and there are kits you can buy to plug the slit after removing it. (pic related)

Nice, and have you tested the gun with wood planks or something with higher resistance?

Thanks for the answers anyways.

6⅞" barrel on mine so theoretically excellent power for a pistol.
there are much longer aftermarket barrels as well. suppressed barrels also come in many lengths and qualities. the MKs are very modifiable much like 10/22s

Integrals can have more internal volume, which reduces sound.

Integrals often have barrel porting, which lowers the velocity of the rounds, reducing sound. This also can ensure no sonic crack, which is less of an issue in short pistol barrels anyway.

An integral setup can be shorter than a muzzle mounted can.

Longer sight radius.

Integrals look sweet, which does nothing for sound.

Integrals can't be moved to another gun, which sucks because muh tax.

Integrals often have ported barrels, which lowers velocity and muzzle energy.

Some integrals can be disassembled for cleaning, which is a big deal for most .22 shooters.

I would give my vote to an integral with a optional slide lock. Ruger Mark series are popular for building into an integral can probably because of their round receiver and tube like layout.

Then Ruger it is, but which one is preferable?

Why?

that is up to you
you would probably be better with a MKII over a MKIII but the MKII will be used where you can buy a shiny new MKIII

i personally dont llike the 22/45. the grip angle on the MK feels WAY better to me but for a lot of people who love the 1911 grip angle the 22/45 is better

the other difference is the 22/45 has a poly frame while the MK is all steel
some of the 22/45s also come with threaded barrels.

make an effort to fingerfuck them and if you intend to get a suppressed barrel and other custom parts just get base models
current MSRP for my MKIII HUNTER - $638
current MSRP for a base MKIII - $362
--
MSRP for a 22/45 is between $440 and $470

Somewhat on topic, can you still find a High Standard integrally suppressed .22?
>>
>>29359261
Unique x.51 bis

Designed for it. Still used by the cign.

1: Not a lookalike of an existing centerfire-caliber gun, such as the P22, 1911, M&P, P226 or anything else. You want a bespoke .22, not something compromisingly cobbled into the shape of another gun.

2: Something long vetted, with a large aftermarket.

Essentially the only choice is a Ruger Mark, as has been suggested. Ruger saw the writing on the wall back when Bill was still alive and came to their senses, offering their own threaded, colored, semicustom, accurized and lightweight versions too, so now you have even more choice in which Mark you end up with.
