Help me out /k/ I'm looking for a cheap, not complete piece of shit Ar 15. My budget is about 700.
>>
Olympic is pretty cheap.
>>
>>29358028
Get a stripped lower and a PSA rifle kit.
>>
Palmetto State Armory (PSA) is your friend.
>>
>>29358028
S&W Sport 15
>>
>>29358028
literally build your own
final expenses I paid to build my own was 650
you have no excuse
>>
Build your own, you could easily build one with palmetto state armory parts under $700, just stay way from the PTAC stuff.

Hell, they have their Easter sale going on currently even.
>>
>>29358028

Buy a stripped lower, buy a lower parts kit from Rock River Arms, then buy a complete upper from PSA or TNTE.
>>
>>29358028

+1 for PSA
>>
>>29358028
PSA lower
Midstate upper

>>29358866
what's the cheapest AR build ever done?
>>
>>29359742
Probably anderson lower and PTAC upper
>>
>>29359779

Avoid ptac. Freedom is the lowest psa line you should go with.
>>
Norinco in canada. Complete $399
>>
>>29359935
more like 699...
>>

PSA

This this this, build babby's first AR and enjoy
Having done the same thing, you'll need a rubber mallet and a punch set, and I highly recommend a pivot pin installation tool.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but iirc if you're using a complete upper, the only roll pins you have to put in are the ones for the trigger guard. So skip the roll pin punches, and just get a plastic Magpul trigger guard and a screw kit.
>>
Buy soon. Good deal on a solid rifle. A monkey could put a lower together.

Lower might not be worth the hassle online if you can find a reasonably priced one locally. Primary Arms for first optic. Or vortex.

He asked what the cheapest was.

There's also the bolt catch, but that's almost easier to install with a pair of pliers wrapped in electrical tape.

Reread the OP. Cheap, not POS rifle. Sold my PTAC. Machining was rough, reliability was not awful (had a few stuck cases that were a bitch to get out), Accuracy wasn't too bad, but the step up to the 2 freedom rifles I have is definitely noticeable. Its worth the slightly higher price tag or patience for a sale.
>>
>>29360093
Fuck, I knew I was forgetting something.
>tfw I got it in JUST far enough that the bolt catch wouldn't go in and then I had to spend half an hour getting the pin to back out one millimeter
Would definitely recommend the vicegrips + electrical tape though, plus you can use that to press in the trigger guard pins

PSA Freedom 16" midlength rifle kit is currently $420 and includes everything you need except a stripped lower.

PSA Premium 16" midlength rifle kit is only $530 too, and will be a better rifle than the Freedom.

Those kits will both need a rear sight or an optic too but there should be enough money left either way.

hey these look pretty good

can anyone else suggest a good place for cheap free float uppers made w/ 7075 alum?
>>

Been eyeing midstate uppers. Whats your experience with them?
>>
>>29360039
Just use a razor blade for the pivot pin, it's pretty easy.

No, they're mediocre. Know that before you show up posting your poorfag "build" in AR General and get pissy when no one cares.
>>
>>29358028

Anyone have a larger version, clearer version of OP's pic?
>>

Build kit should you want what you have pictured.

S&W Sport or Sport II can get you shooting out of the box for as low as $600.

You can start shooting a Del-ton sport lite for less than $550, and DPMS oracles anywhere between $550 and $700 depending on the optic you go with.

Plenty of decent options, that aren't shit. That you don't have to frankengun.

I would rather have a complete stag

oh, you must be one of them. don't worry, I'd never invade your safespace
>>
>>29360046
Op here, sorry I couldn't reply sooner but is there any hassle involved with getting any of these kits as an 18y/o? I don't remember where I read it but I've heard you need to be 21 to get a stripped lower.

Also are there any special tools I'll need to put it together? My ar 15 knowledge doesn't go past basic field stripping.
>>
>>29361557
I'm thinking about building an AR, but /arg/ is pure cancer. Worse than arfcom.

Adler-Jager AP74? It's a .22lr copy of the M16.
>>
>>29363075
From what I've heard, you could get someone else to buy the stripped/completed lower and then do a PPT or gift it and you should be good.

Also a completed lower and completed upper require no tools to put together. Just snap the pins in and that's it.
>>
>>29363075
Straight from the ATF's mouth.

Stripped, or assembled, lowers are receivers and you must be 21 to purchase.

M&P-15 or M&P-15 Sport
Ruger also now makes a nice one, AR-556

Or as others have said, building your own.

>>29359742
Probably some Vulcan Arms piece of shit deathtrap.

>>29364214
Not really an AR-15 though.

>>29363075
Another option could be a CAV-15, it has a fixed stock so it would probably be regarded as a rifle receiver by default, it's lightweight and pretty sturdy.

However, you might not like the length of pull or grip, it's up to you. Also, while it's genuinely very durable (unlike most plastic AR lowers), not everyone likes plastic

Re-read the fucking question:
>what's the cheapest AR build ever done?
May I emphasize EVER?
I wasn't answering, OP, I was answering this.
>>
>>29361557
>No, they're mediocre.
No they're not. The hand guards are probbl
>>
>>29366871
probably chinese-made. Not that it matters, since pretty much all steel comes from China.
>>
>>29366863
Again, the cheapest AR is probably some horrible Vulcan Arms piece of shit.
>>
>>29366896
Did I disagree on that?

Stop sperging over a simple question. We all know Condor PCs are shit, but if someone asks what the cheapest PC is, "Condor" is the right answer.
>>
>>29364824
Do I have to get the upper and lower through an FFL?
>>
>>29358028
I was pleasantly surprised with the windham src, 650 out the door.

S&W M&P 15

Any opinions on Stag arms?
