>Military left waiting on big-ticket items as Liberals shrink funding in budget

What's that thing called when governments start cutting orders to save money, but that just pushes up the cost per unit leading to more cancellations, pushing up the cost, which leads to even more cancellations and so on?

Slash-And-Whine

The good news is that the Canadian government really doesn't have enough pull to affect the actual price of the F-35. I personally think they'll end up buying Super Hornets just so that Trudeau can keep his retarded campaign promise and still keep some commonality with the US navy.

If things continue as is, I don't know if we'll buy a replacement of any sort. Well, unless Bombardier designs a new fighter.

>Guise we have to meet all these obligations though
>NATO? Lol fuck that I mean obligations I like
>IT IS THE CURRENT YEAR
>>
>>29355812
But anon they're going to use the money on much more important things - like cruises and expensive new pickups for band councils
>>
Hilarious. Now they'll have to buy the Super Hornets AND the F-35 ten years down the road to replace them.
>>
>>29355961
"F35 is a waste on money!" has become a meme in Canadian government, and the Liberals will ride it all the way. They have no plan to do anything better and are too ignorant to realize it's still the best option at this point, but it sounds good to idiots
>Wah why don't we use the money to send everybody to university to get women's studies degrees instead!
>>
liberals gonna lib

Lots of money for refugees, immigrants, injuns, and handouts to the third world tho

Just traitors like usual

Sounds like he's just talking out of his ass

You realize the CPC cut $5 billion in defence spending like a year and a half ago, right?

And the liberals are doing $5.5 billion over ten years in veterans support funding?

>B-but the other guys did it too, therefore it's okay for these guys to do it!

email the critics of the F-35 and tell them how much of a lying sack of shit Pierre Sprey is, you just might save the F-35

same as electing an American president, essentially the winner of a popularity contest.

Why does Canada keep pretending they need a military? Who's a threat to Canada? Nobody.

1.6 billion over five years, not 5.5 billion. Also, that's just "The government expects".

No- they increased the defense spending by 1 billion in their last budget:

Saying $5.6 billion over six years for vets here.

Re: CPC cuts:

>Since 2012, they have axed nearly $5 billion from the Department of National Defence’s budget. In addition, since 2007, they have let $10 billion in approved funding go unspent, including nearly $7 billion in DND’s capital budget — funds allocated for new equipment like search and rescue aircraft, trucks, and ships.

>These cuts have driven defence spending below 1 per cent of GDP — the lowest share of GDP since the 1930s — and well below our expected spending commitment as a NATO member. Under the Conservative government’s current funding plan, the budget will continue to fall to 0.89 per cent of GDP by 2027.

That link 404s

The second link is a Liberal Party statement, and as such should be treated with some skepticism.

Here's the Conservative counter-claim, which should be treated the same:

>We have increased National Defence spending from $14.5 billion in 2005–06 to $20.1 billion in 2014–15 on a cash basis — a 38 per cent increase.

http://espritdecorps.ca/defence-platforms-conservative/

At any rate, it doesn't change that the Cons did increase spending by 1 bill last budget, not cut by 5.5 bill.
