There simply has to be a way to make it less bulky. The M320 managed to be about the same size and weight as the EGLM and yet managed to incorporate both a grip and folding foregrip.

In Canada, M203s are actually non-restricted firearms. Now try to buy an actual 40mm grenade. You can get adapters to fire 12 gauge shells, flares, nine rounds of .22 LR at the same time turning it into a monster shotgun, etc.

They make "beehive" shells in 40mm that you load a bunch of .22 rounds into.
Also, the launchers themselves are unrestricted by federal law(Commifornia and Jew York disagree though), it's the rounds that are restricted.
