If /k/ were to design a sneaking suit to use while operating, what would it be made of? I'm not saying it has to be super practical in today's world, since the solo sneaking mission doesn't exist anymore, but I wanna know anyways. I had the idea to use something like a Kevlar/spandex weave with an integrated nomex base layer, and cordura nylon to reinforce the knees, forearms/elbows and shoulders, but I feel like others here may have a more realistic or more effective set of fabrics in mind. So with all that said, what would /k/'s sneaking suit look like?

"sneaking suits" like the ones in Metal Gear would have to be made out of spandex or something, otherwise they would be noisy and uncomfortable. The entire idea of a having a super tight form fitting suit for sneaking around in seems kind of absurd when a jumpsuit would work just fine.

One man operating still exists, it's referred to as a "singleton" operation. They seem to be surveillance operations though and not Sam Fisher style. Apparently Delta operators are capable of fooling people into thinking they are shuffling old women walking around town.
>>
>>29352995
Wow, honestly did not know that. That is badass.
>>
>>29352989
In theory a suit with more of a compression fit and a design to complement that compression would help with endurance actually. Now in practice it might provide a minimal difference, but nobody's ever tried it with a whole body suit.
>>
>>29352959
MGS1 snake on the left looks really silly with all the padding but I guess that was insulation since he was operating in the arctic at the time.

MGS2 snake is wearing what looks like a wet suit and some knee braces and an LBV that looks like it's made of old backpacks
>>
>>29352959
from what it looks like, the sneaking suit snake wears also has integrated pads and really only seems to come together with a harness like the one he is wearing. i imagine that a suit like this wouldnt make too much noise if its made from some kind of silent stretching material.

it most definitely would be damn expensive and very experimental
>>
>>29352959
Start with a compression suit.

Top choice for solo operators.
>>

Now we're talkin, I'd think that something like this would make a really good starting point.

You don't have to be CAG to do singleton ops. A lot of the Snipers in the 75th run them, mostly for R&S (recon and surveillance) like you said. If not going solo, it's pretty common for teams of 2 or 3 to grab some low-pro incognito gear and hop in a civvie car to do some recon before an op.

This is also pretty normal in a lot of contracting jobs, they'll have one or two guys throw on casual clothes with some concealable body armor underneath, almost all your shit will be on your belt line, and you usually take a sbr broken down in a messenger back on your back along with some mags.
>>
>>29353055
it folds too much to be a wet suit
it reminds me of that material they use for vests and jackets in really cold weather, but also looks like rubber too
>>
>>29353055
A wetsuit would suck ballsack to run around out of the water in.

most important issue is that it doesn't constrict your movement or anything like that. and that it doesn't squeak or make any sounds.

I actually don't like the MGSV sneaking suit, I think it looks completely autismo tacticool

pic related is much better and honestly just as effective. except I'd eliminate as much of the attachment stuff as possible, more shit to get caught on something or stuck or fall off.
>>
>>29353353
I think it was militarized concept of cutting edge sports wear.
>>
>>29353353
"canonically" the sneaking suit doesn't even exist besides the one he uses in Ground Zeroes. Which is just a variation of the one in Peace Walker, which in turn is just the one The Boss uses in MGS3

So honestly the sneaking suit was a Russian design up until MGS1
>>
Why would a sneaking suit need to be compressed material?

Salty cammies are dead quiet, and feel like pajamas.
>>
>>29353353
Whats better tho, MGS3 Camo or MGSV Camo
>>
>>29353634
as with all camo, depends on the environment

>>29353507
the sneaking suits are designed to reduce noise of movement, everything from running to crawling. Also the integrated pads on the knees, shoulders, and elbows help too.
They are also designed to increase endurance by being as soft as can be as well as helping circulation.
Obviously its future tech but its a videogame after all. Not impossible, but also not feasible at this point in time.

In MGS you're operating in an arctic environment. So an outfit that keeps you warm without being bulky and noisy is a plus.

Also if you take a close look, Snake actually removes quite a bit of the suit in his MGS2 appearance.

The bulkiness of the suit is gone (see the sleeves and legs have no insulating pads anymore) and he removed the vest and external protective padding. It leaves him with a pretty light suit in the end.

I wouldn't exactly call that a wetsuit, but it's definitely on the right track, no pun intended, for what were looking for here. Spandex isn't exactly flame retardant or super abrasion resistant though.
>>
fuck i love the way that vest looks. is there anything milspec that's similar to it?
>>
>>29353145
>He hid a stinger in there.
>>
>>29356295
Word.
Its all about the blend and weave like >>29353162

Nomex is mostly regular wool the magic is in the weave, its thick and cant stretch (good for pads). For fire/heat graphene coating can be applied to the weave of whatever you use.

Sheer thickening will be a more than a meme soon too.

Certain types of Vietnam-era Flak Vests look similar, but arn't close enough for cosplay. Ive been looking for one for years and am thinking it will have to be a custom job.
