Ah.
The genre I've seen it called the most Symphonic Power Metal.
Amon Amarth is usually listed as Melodic Death Metal, if you've ever seen Metalocalypse they have a similar sound to Dethklok.
It did have a bit of a tone to it, but it's fine.

It was PMC Bronze 223 55gr, model number 223A.

Only downside of the rifle I've found is that the optics rail feels like it's maybe 1/8th of an inch lower than I'd like. At eye relief on that TA31 my cheek is firmly on the stock, which does make it fast but shooting from some awkward positions could be troubling.

So I fucked up. I bought two ring mounts for my scope. I got the Vortex Viper PST 1-4x and grabbed two ring mounts thinking I could fit it on the receiver.

So what I did was just place them directly next to one another and they're both holding the scope near it's rear.

Tell me, is this a terrible idea? I'll probably shell out for a canted mount in the near future, but I want to take it out and give it a go.
>>
When i got to magazine in shoop software i was reminded to link a abusive ridiculous mag test from arfcom and to announce that i will test one of my hk translucent mag after leaving it outside for few day already started two day ago and freezing it then allowing it return to room temperature for drop test which will start at 4 feet then 6 feet and lastly 8 feet. Im going to take some documenting photos throughout the testing and make some notes like certain observations or how many rounds the mag spit out for each drops.

Link coming up next post

yeah it's a pretty shit idea.

I would not recommend shooting with it that way, it could potentially damage the scope.

Yes, that rail especially as pictured is hilarious looking, as are most of the accessories for the tavor. It looks like stuff bubba put together in his garage after a few too many.

How much you thinking to sell it for?

Also, when it comes to cowitnessing through a 1x scope... what's the point? I can't seem to fit BUIS behind the scope and still maintain a good eye relief. I'd like to keep my BUIS on, but I don't really see how that's possible.

You can't cowitness irons through a magnified optic. It doesn't matter if it's claimed to be 1x or not, you still will not be able to cowitness. You need a red dot for that.

Dont read past like 22th page its all asskissing and bullshit bubba putting in their 2 cent. Although theres plenty that shit throughtout inbetween the test.

Would be gr8 if folks could keep their trap shut and post to minimum until testing's over.

>>
>>29352017
Most BUIS will fit under the ocular bezel. The point is to have a QD mount so if you fug your optic you can quickly remove it and use irons.

While you CAN cowitness through 1-whatever scope it's pretty much useless because literally nobody makes a true 1x. They range from ~1.3-1.8x.

Also I'd like to get $65 out of the mount. It's been out of its package but not mounted on anything.

Hmm. I dont think you know what control in experiment mean.

Anyway i get you what you mean but i am not performing a scientific experiment with bunch of different magazines. I am just doing a personal experiment to see if the hk mag would meet my personal and realistic expectations. I also will test just tad farther to see how far above my expectation hk mag would finally fail if it even will.

My expectation is simply that hk mag do not crack anywhere after dropped from 6 feet fully loaded three time after exposed to maybe 5 full day of UV ray and frozen then thrawed.

Then survive 4 feet drop fully loaded while frozen three time.

I do not wish to destroy the mag so i wouldnt be doing "test until it fail".

Oh and the mag i will be testing is marked number 3.

I was about to ask him haha.

I ordered an Anderson premium LPK yesterday just to get the stainless steel FCG that it comes with. A LGS had a couple of complete lowers with those LPKs and stainless FCGs in them. The triggers felt really good, heavy but super crisp and clean. Also the trigger surface itself has an interesting profile that I really liked. Hopefully the one that comes in the LPK that I ordered is like the ones that I felt at my LGS.

Do you guys think that a stainless trigger and hammer are g2g though? I read some forums saying that stainless galls and simply isn't as durable as the hardened steel used in most milspec triggers.

Worst comes to worse I have an extra LPK.

Hey what's this about a premium LPK from Anderson? I see some with black triggers that I hear are poor quality. Mine has a silver trigger (pictured), but at $60 with a grip, trigger guard, etc I thought it would be considered a standard LPK

The handguard is a 13" Houlding CMX. I don't believe it is manufactured anymore. If you're really in love with it you'll need to order an upper from Hardened Arms and wait a month for them to build it, but they do have them still in stock.

The rail covers are NCstar Keymod covers. They are airsoft products made from a flexible rubber. I have since replaced them with BCM Keymod covers and I'm much happier with the appearance and function.

I originally wanted the Noveske ones but they didn't fit so I threw them in the trash.

fwiw I made absolutely certain the rounds corresponded to the boxes. And while I haven't whipped out the calipers yet, you are right - the .223 chamber apparently has a shorter leade than the 5.56 chamber (about half the length, like .08" vs .16"). So while .223 is snug in a .223 chamber, 5.56 would be TOO snug, hence the increased chance of overpressure/kb

My question is, .223 being slightly 'looser' in the 5.56 chamber, will accuracy suffer?

Basically trying to see if I can justify buying 55grain .223 for less than M193 if the performance is on par
>>
>>29352272
I know what you meant. That can be found in another testing infact plenty testing have been done on those more common mag that I dont need to do them.

But testing for hk translucent are virtually non-existent (i found few but they are basically just dropping them and running them over thats it. no temperature test, no UV exposure, no drop while frozen

This test is primarily done for myself. I have already tested the shit out of usgi and conclusion i came to is usgi can be put out of commission fairly ease if you are doing it on purpose. but accidentally... very difficult and unlikely. But kicker is they can be PUT BACK INTO COMMISSION by simply bending them back into spec granted the spot weld are good and didnt snapped and done in field with plier and to some skilled folks like me can put one with broke spine spot weld and bent feeding lip back in commission. I have standing specimen to prove it too.

I like the magazine, both color and the pattern. How are you getting that pattern? I don't like that the pattern stops prematurely before the magwell.

You have the premium Anderson LPK with the stainless trigger and hammer. That is the one that I ordered. How do you like the trigger so far? How many rounds have you put through it?

The ones that I felt at my LGS had this flat surface profile of the trigger itself that I really liked. It was kinda "sharp" around the edges. Plus the shiny will match my BCG, like yours.

Shooting .223 out of a 5.56 will limit your accuracy. Fine for plinking and carbine training but there certainly is a limit. It will shoot safe though. The performance will not be on par if you're talking 300yd bench shots.

you have a fucking discerning eye - but I have my reasons. I just got these FDE mags and they are the tightest I own yet (lotta pmags gen2/3, some black USGI)

I already felt my pmags getting snugger with a single coat, so I wanted to make extra sure I didn't crowd the magwell on these FDE USGI's, hence the blank shard

tbqh I'm not sure I prefer these FDE ones. Got em off Midway under an "AR STONER MAGAZINE" listing. They seem sturdy, but the inside seems coated too, and the followers really seemed to benefit from a little froglube

Premium LPK huh?! Imagine that shit! I have no complaints so far. only about 100 rounds through it, and while I did drop a dab of gunslick on the trigger surfaces initially, it already seems to be breaking in nicely.

They are close to each other depending on which m193 and which 55gr 223rem you use other can out shoot other.

Like geco 223 rem would outshoot AE XM193 but imi m193 would outshoot fed val pak 223rem.

Eh eh eh. If you want good accuracy with 223 get one with 69 gr bullet those are great. Especially fgmm 69gr smk.

To clarify all that i just now talked about had load purely shot out of 5.56 chamber in mind.

But m193 and xm193 really shoot flatter and perform better against target than 55gr 223rem.

If just plinking inna 200yds go 55gr 223rem but if its for shtf or anything else go m193.

Keep in mind the x before m193 as in xm193 mean it failed milspec test.

And how some civilian 223rem ammo are held to higher standard that xm193 wouldnt meet. Like some match grade 223rem or just high quality 223rem.

I would rather trust my life to match grade 55gr 223rem like fgmm rather than to AE XM193

Hmm I'll keep that in mind. I kinda want to paint my grey USGI magazines I picked up this weekend. I don't like the rough chalky texture. I much prefer the smoothness of the black steel ones.

Ah a laundry bag? It makes a good pattern.

Yup premium LPK. They're kinda hard to find now honestly. This is where I grabbed mine:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ANDERSON-Mfg-Premium-Lower-Parts-Kit-/141933201691?hash=item210be0c91b:g:GxQAAOSwZ8ZW6-CP

I doubt wylde is a meme. I'm sure it is just a chambering slightly in between .223 and 5.56. It won't be entirely optimized for either, but it will have a better "net" performance than a 5.56 barrel or a .223 specific barrel.

Also you totally answer questions I was in the middle of typing out

>I would rather trust my life to match grade 55gr 223rem like fgmm rather than to AE XM193

I've got a small stash of the AE XM193 so this definitely registers.

3-4 decent .223 bullets (weights) and brands to look out for? Thanks

Pictured is the PSA NiB BCG. It has been out of stock for almost two months now. I bought it because it was quite cheap at $100, and I wanted the shiny chrome look. It has held up so far with no staining, and about 700 rounds through it. No malfunctions and I'm overall pleased. I would purchase it again for another build if it were in stock. I might move it over to my pistol once/if I ever pony up for a Mystic Silver Cryptic BCG.

I like it but I would not spend $150-$190 on a nice name brand NiB BCG. For $100-$125 the price is right. Anything more and it seems more worthwhile to put the money elsewhere in the build, or just get the Cryptic.

Oh it's just a few things..
and then there's a huge list.
Thankfully mine is finally getting pretty small.

I traced shapes off the pattern I posted here >>29352333 onto paper, then transferred those shapes onto 3m blue painters tape I had put on wax paper to make sort of DIY stickers.
Then I cut the shapes out of the tape and peeled off the wax paper and applied to rifle, add paint, repeat for each color.

69gr is really ideal for 223rem possibly the best because heavier one like 75 and 77 just leave barrel too slow and drop too fast and 55gr's too light and have poor ballistic coefficient.

69 smk 223rem fgmm out of 16" match closely to 77gr mk262 out of 16" up until maybe 300yds and slowly start drop faster than 77gr mk262 but not by much like maybe 3 inch lower by 400yds.

Im foggy on details. i did ballistic calculation like year ago on this but i know for sure 69gr smk is absolute best all around bullet with 223rem meaning you can shoot the furthest with 69smk for 223 rem than 55gr or 77gr.

But for 5.56 75/77gr is best although 69smk perform fantastic too.

For 223rem absolute best for all around is 69smk. But for tiny groups on paper less than say 250yds 75/77gr's great.

For cheap less than stellar grouping plinking 55gr and 62 fmj is winner. Oh and 50gr too.

For 223rem spec loads

I recommend wolf 55gr or brown bear/monarch 55gr for plinking ammo. 69gr fgmm for farther shooting and shtf. 75gr hornady for 100yds grouping.

For 5.56 spec mk262 hands down. If penny pinching get m193 or hot 5.56 with 69gr smk bullet and make range card yourself.

Not worth it. It suffers from chronic hammer follow. It's way to easy to outrun the hammer.

Fostech has made a similar trigger that is currently up for pre-order. They claim to have designed theirs in such a way that hammer follow will be non-existent, but I'll wait until they start shipping units in May for me to believe them.

Detailed post - thanks cg. Gonna have to wait till morning to fully process it, but I hear 69gr .223 being on the ideal end of the spectrum, 'farther shooting and shtf' like you said.

Do you think I can find decent 69gr .223 for close to 40 -45cpr? I'd be very content with that rate

And considering both the XM193 and 55gr .223 I've found (pictured earlier, both AE) are right at 37cpr, which would you opt for if you had to choose?

The most important parts are making sure your color scheme matches your area and not caking the paint on. Go light handed and make sure you know what your plan is ahead of time.

I watched a lot of videos on Youtube about it, read an Arfcom thread or two, and looked at the paintjobs on rifles that I liked. I kept coming back to really liking the mesh camo style, and since it's simple I went for it.

http://ammoseek.com/ammo/223-remington/-rifle-69grains-?ca=brass

So its more like around 50 cent at that point you absolute must get third one austrian outback 69gr smk thats one's like poorman fgmm. Very good just like cbc is poorman mk262.

Dont get priv. performance to price isnt good enough compared to outback.

Glad to help. But be sure to check out some god teir 55gr like geco if its cheaper than outback 69gr i would totally get that.

For 2 moa out to 400yds that would be doable with 55gr geco and 69gr smk outback but a struggle with say fed val pak or fiocchi or privi.
