Just got my stamp for my AAC Element 2 today.
I'd like to put an optic on this. Something little like a Trijicon RMR, but not quite so expensive. Any ideas?

You could get your local machine shop to mill you a rearsight dovetail mount plate out of some 6061 or 7075 and put a PA reddot on there.

It is a 22/45 but yeah, all rimfire rugers have are tapped to mount a rail. Just don't forget to put BLUE locktite on the threads, do NOT USE RED.

I asked a local shop for lawyers they recommend. Mine was definitely a little more money then some other people have paid but the whole thing was done quickly, efficiently, has some useful provisions with managing the property after my untimely death, and I can ask the firm anything gun related for the rest of eternity. So if there's a reasonable lawyer in your area I'd go with that.
Also he hosts a machine gun shoot every year and I'm always down for that.

Nah, an 8.5" 300BLK is minute of man at 300 yards. A good variable optic is a solid choice.
