Do you agree with the US Army's chief of staff that the MHS program should be dropped and Glock 19s bought as already used by special forces?

Are glocks susceptible to dirt/dust/sand impeding function?
>>
>>29342430
Yes. They severally impede the fragmentation of the glawk
>>
What pistols have US special forces used in the last two decades?
>>
>>29342430
Every firearm is. It's a mechanical device, if you clog it up it might not work properly.

Contenders so far

Glock: 17 or 22
SIG-Sauer: P320
Walther: PPQ M2
FN: Five-Seven Mk 2
S&W: M&P
STI-Detonics: STX
Beretta: APX
HK: Unknown

So after googling a bit.

Between every group M9 and 1911s in the early days. Then the Mk 23s for everyone but it's fuck huge, so SIGs for seals which they supplemented with HK45s whilst the marines kept going with 1911 models and then everyone jumped on the Glock wagon.

What did green berets and delta use between the M9 and Glocks?
>>
>>29342383

Absolutely.

The Glock 19 has shown itself to be a very reliable and good pistol to use. Anyone who says otherwise is denying facts.

I think Glock pistols should be standard issue across all branches, but that's just me.

Wasn't this thing being considered, at some point?
>>
The problem with the US military adopting the Glock to replace the M9 is that you would have to issue a pistol without a true safety to subhumans who would shoot themselves and the soldiers around them at the drop of a hat without the 13 measures in place to stop them.

Pointing with their fingers and yelling bang.

Don't worry, they'll just add a slide mounted safety. This time they'll put it on the right side of the slide, where it belongs.

Yeah, pretty much. Anyone who has ever been in the infantry and many who haven't know that pistols damn near don't mean shit in modern warfare. The Glock is simple, tooling and manufacture is already in the US, it is an established and reliable pistol, and it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to adopt.

The Army seems pretty fixated on having features for their new pistol, most of which aren't really necessary for real world applications. The Glock already has a smaller grip than the M9 and has adjustable backstraps for different shooters. Order them coated in a neutral color from the factory and you've got a service pistol.
>>
>>29342430
Not overly so.
>>
>>29342383
Would need a manual saftey.

I mean 100%, this is unquestioned.

However, glocks have been made with them, so who knows.

>>29342383
thisi s hte biggest freakin waste of time I ever saw wait out the patent on 5.7 (it works NATO trials almost saw adoption) then tell smith wesson and the rest to make a handgun for it. Or better yet go with smith wesson M&P series does what glock does but with somewhat better ergos. Hell put M&P and the glock head ot head see who wins thier is your next handgun.

They should still hold the trials, the scientific method is important. Last time the army ignored it, we got UCP camo. There might be a weapon that performs better than the Glock, as improbable as that may seem.

Isn't the glock already used by police departments all over America? I think if overweight donut-chasers can do it, the military can probably handle it as well.

Granted some of them /do/ end up glocklegging themselves, but it's not super common and where else would we get such quality youtube entertainment if not for "safety demonstrators" shooting their feet off?

How can it take years to decide on a new service pistol. Fucking hell.

Don't care, it's not like anyone that isn't a 1SG/SGM, 03 and up, an MP, or *maybe* a gunner (outside of SF/SOF) is going to even use a sidearm for in their career.
