>>
That's because they are pretty damn boring.
>>
>>29333753
/thread

It's just a civilian job with more BS in most cases.
>>
I'm in the military
>>
>>29333870

>>
>>29333743
If you enlist on a submarine you will doing clandestine activities each and every day.
>>
>>29333743
A/C tech here, i get paid to work out, chew out pilots when they fuck up and fix amazing machines.
If you can handle never being in the spotlight, not being operator and the pressure of responsibility then it's a nice job.
>>
>>29333881
I've defeated creases everywhere for your freedom
>>
>be medic
>be on cq
>see this post
Meh
>>
>>29333743
Because it is boring. Life is 90% boring, live for the 10% that isn't boring. That's a quote from my Dad.

If you really hate yourself join the USMC like I did.
>>
>>29333743

Air Force here. Its okay I guess.
>>
>>29333743
Go SOF or aviation if you're such a high speed guy.
>>
>>29333743
Be medical air force, thank me later after tech school when you fuck the entie female squadron.
>>
>>29333743
>was air force intel
>work in air conditioned building in front of computer, sitting on nice office chair
>every other weekend a 3 day weekend, have days off during the week
>no unit PT

Meh it was pretty boring, but easy as shit. Getting paid to literally sit on my ass wasn't bad.
>>
>>29333743

Third man on the balcony here.

eh
>>
>>29334146
yea duh, just simply...go Navy SEAL, its not like there is a grueling selection process your average american NEET on 4chan can pass or anything
>>

>>
>>29336728

second man on the balcony here

fuck off you walt
>>
>>29333890

top kek

Don't get me wrong, I love subs. But I'm stuck in dry dock right now doing fuck all.
>>
>>29336933
if it's something he really wants to do and prepares for a couple years, he could do it
>>
>>29337138
How long at sea versus dry/wet docking? Also shit nigger tell us more about subs. Is it true each and every sub from every country "hot racks"? Also do you guys roll "Condition 0 or 1" or "Condition 4"?

Meaning do yall motherfucker patrol with one finger away from blasting nukes at Ivan or roll around with a couple of screen doors to keep the fish out?
>>
Go army with an opt40 contract and say hi to me in a year and a half
>>
>>29337230
You're in a batt?
>>
>>29337255
Third
>>
>>29337269
Dude me too!
Do you know Phil Meeyup?
>>
>>29333743
Military jobs are the definition of boring, bureaucratic bullshit.

Even a combat arms MOS is 90% mind-numbing boredom and idiocy sprinkled with a tiny bit of fun training and a decent amount of sheer terror and agony should you ever be called to apply your training and skillset.

TL;DR
Being in the military is pretty terrible.
>>
>>29337269
I'm an AF vet currently in college. Do you think being in your late 20's is too old to enlist option 40? I want to when im down with school.
>>
>>29337285
How late 20's? You'd probably be ok, the worst part is going to be having to go to Ranger school eventually if you want to stay in batt
>>
>>29337173
Your questions are silly.
>>
>>29337328
I'd say around 26-28. Physically I'm in really good shape, but I just don't know that's too old. Especially for someone new to the army.
>>
>>29333890
and you won't even know you're doing them! Wheee!
>>
>>29337328
>...Ranger school eventually
Wouldn't any option 40 have to go through Ranger School and RASP I/II before they make it to battalion these days?
>>
>>29337282

You know Phil Meeyup?!

I'm PVT Jack Goff!
>>
>>29337173

Depends on the boat. Typically if one goes into dry dock, it's gonna be there for a few years. Can thank the snail shit slow pace of contractors and the system in general for that one. Hot racking is common but only really something junior sailors/unqualified guys do. Depends how many racks are available. Some boats will forgo torpedo storage for rack space.

That's a dumb question.
>>
>>29337368
only if you're an officer. But then you wouldn't be enlisting with an opt40, so no.

Opt40=OSUT, BAC, RASP 1- get to your batt, doing a training cycle + deployment (usually, but not always), then go to ranger school.
>>
>>29337356
There were a few old guys in my RASP class, they did fine. There's two privates in my squad that are mid to late twenties and they do just fine, just have to be more careful with their legs.
>>
>>29337269
What kind of operator shit have you done in the Rangers? Is it really much different from 11b?
>>
>>29337418
I'm about to go on my first deployment, and I was never in the big army. But from my buddies that were big army, we do much higher level training, and much more training than big army. Plus we get more cool guy gear and a funny hat.
>>
>>29337413
Ah alright thanks

What was your mos?
>>
Hey, >>29337173

Don't listen to >>29337389

He's a junior fast boat sailor. Once he gets some salt on him he'll have a few better answers for you.
>>
>>29337472
What was your MOS?

I'm B co currently.
>>
>>29337516
Is it like being in a frat? You'll get forced to drink, beat up, molested, Etc etc
>>
>>29337430
How hard is RASP really? Do you think DEP and Basic is enough time to get into good enough shape to make it through?
>>
>>29337532
11B but C2 got stuck in anti armor.
>>
>>29337568
Not anymore. Apparently it was in the good old days, now you just do a lot of push-ups as a new private
>>
>>29333951
Faggot I'll call your boss to adjust the A/C in my TOC after you bring me my morning coffee
>>
>>29337569
It's only hard for the people that don't make it through.

It was plenty of time for me, I went to basic maxing the pt test already though
>>
>>29333976
>medic
>on cq

You're doing it wrong. See 'Geneva Convention'
>>
>>29337610
>It's only hard for the people that don't make it through.
Can you elaborate?
>>
>>29337661
My class started with almost 170, we graduated 75.

I didn't think it was hard and never wanted to quit, but obviously it was hard for some, since a lot did quit.

It's all mental anon
>>
>>29337680
It's all metal as long as you can handle the physical. Shape up or ship out,

Class leader. Cls 1.92
>>
>>29337680
I just want to put myself into the best physical position to be able to succeed. I guess I won't know if I have the mentality until the time comes, but at least I can get the physicality
>>
>>29337731
What's your ruck Tim?
>>
>>29337716
Obviously you have to be in good physical condition. I prepared before I enlisted, it was all fine for me.

My class graduated '15
>>
>>29337767
Glad to have you. RLTW
>>
What's it like for Intel Rangers once in batt? They train train with infantry or do their own thing?
>>
>>29337819
They do their own thing. We had three Intel guys in my class and I never see them in training. I'll bump into them in the chow hall sometimes and they say they make lots of powerpoints.
>>
Thoughts on Army National Guard? I want to be a carpenter but I don't want to marry or break up with my girlfriend to do active duty
>>
>>29333743
Infantryman here. It's boring as fuck.
>>
>>29337854
My favorite time was in the NG Airborne Ranger Infantry 425th and 143rd. We flew around the states and conducted operations no other team would enjoy. Do you feel like parachuting into combat or having your pack tray deployed at 400 feet? Sign right up. Our members were 70/20/10 75th Ranger Regiment. 82nd Airborne, Everyone else who was airborne.

everything is fucking boring. i want to die every day
>>
>>29337284
Underrated poast
>>
>>29337965
No kidding? I wanted to be a ranger but I didn't know I could do that in the guard. I'm a subscriber to a lot of existentialist philosophy so I'd love to do anything that gives me a different experience of life, it's one of the reasons I'm even planning on enlisting. Jumping out of planes is just the kind of stuff I'm looking for
>>
So what do enlisted Rangers do after they get a commission if they chose to do so? Do they go back to the 75th? Or what?
>>
>>29338013
You can't, there are no more reserve ranger units.
>>
>>29338042
You'd have to go through RASP 2 to get back in
>>
>>29336705
>am airforce intel
>regret choosing my job everyday

Just fuck my shit up senpai. Don't be a linguist kids, the money isn't worth it.
>>
>>29338183
I'll do your job mate, I want to gtfo my fucking deck rate
>>
>>29338183
Nigga I don't regret it, it was boring as hell, but I got the same pay and benefits as the maintainers on the flight line. Shit was cash.
>>
>>29338221
Yeah nah. I'd rather keep my hearing. Most dudes that stay in longer than 1st term have fucked up hearing from all the static we listen to. Not to mention the constant language classes we are required to go to.
>>
>>29338267
Shouldn't been imagery like me bruh

RIP
