Both are highly questionable for combat. The 5.7mm can be -SORT OF- usefull in a select-fire P90, with the right ammunition, but I'd sooner pick an AR-15 any day.
The 4.6mm performs like a lackluster 5.7mm, a cartridge that's already pretty lackluster.
I'd sooner pick a TMP/MP9 loaded with m/39b than an MP7.

Oh yeah, the 5.7mm would make for an absolutely wonderful varmint round if it wasn't for the typical pricing, it's like .22WMR but way better.
I figure a light and handy carbine (either locked breech or lever-delayed blowback), that takes a 10rd-15rd doublestack boxmag (for lower clearance, optionally it can have a pistol grip magwell and feed from Five Seven mags, for simplicity), featuring a 16" barrel, bipod and a small optic of ones choice, would make for a varmint gun that is VERY easy to shoot, featuring good inherent precision, just the right power, and rapid fire.
Also it would probably be a fun sporter.

A benign looking rifle to maximize the potential of 5.7x28mm as a varmint round.
5.7x28mm is often kind of pricey, and you can't always find the kind of ammo you want, with an action that would treat the brass more gently, you can reuse the brass as a cost saving measure and develop your own loads more easily.
I'm not talking a combat weapon here (though I suppose it can do the job if it really had to).

No. 7.62 Tok was based off 7.63 Mauser. You can load 7.63 in a PpSh but you can't load 7.62 in a C96. They're almost the same, but 7.63 runs at lower pressures than 7.62. Kind of how 5.56 is similar but different to .223 and .308 is similar but different with 7.62 NATO
