plz no bully...

Ausfag babbys first rimfire.

So /k/ I'm an Ausfag looking at my first rimfire .22 just for target shooting and maybe small game eventually. In my searches I've found Norinco, cheap Chinese copies of a K98 and they look breddy cool, mainly because I like old shit.

Anybody had any experience with Norincos?
From reviews I've seen, they're apparently pretty decent for a Chinese shit. Are they good or just a meme?
>>
>>29319167
Canadians seem to like Norinco products just fine. I'm from the US, so it's tough to get Norinco anything because it was banned over 20 years ago.
>>
>>29319188
>gun banned in US

W-why...
>>
>>29319193
Because we don't import guns from Chinese manufacturers anymore. I don't remember why.
>>
>>29319193
Retards caught trying to sell/perhaps enticed into sting operation SAM's to some street gangs in Atlanta.

I am unsure as to how Chinese weapon import ban works though, considering there are plenty of chink shotguns (Stevens 320) that come in in present times. Haven't been any Polytech/Norinco AK's in a long time as a result of aforementioned ban though.

As quoted from the Norinco article from Wikipedia:

"In 1993, the import of most Norinco firearms and ammunition into the United States was blocked under new trade rules when China's permanent normal trade relations status was renewed. The prohibition did not apply to sporting shotguns or shotgun ammunition however. In 1994, U.S. Customs agents conducted a sting against Atlanta based importers of Norinco firearms.[2]

In August 2003, the Bush Administration imposed sanctions on Norinco for allegedly selling missile-related goods to Iran.[3] These sanctions led to a prohibition on imports into the US of the remaining types of firearms and ammunition not covered by the 1993 ban.[4][5]"

just buy a cz or a savage
>>
>>29319214
>>29319216

Ahh fair enough. Do any other manufacturers do .22 replicas on older style rifles? The appeal is that it's cheap and looks cool really. Haven't seen too much in my searches.
>>
>>29319167
Its literally the norinco copy of a cz452 action

So its like a cool aftermarket stock on the jw15 which is a decent gun working gun but dont expect it to look good next to an actual 452
>>
>>29319167

Get an alfaproj 9 shot semi-auto .22lr revolving rifle for fun/hunting

Sako/savage/cz for target shooting

>>29319167
I've owned one. Kinda heavy for a .22 and the wood is cheap looking. Did shoot pretty well. My preferred bolt .22 is a Voere

>>29319288
Chiappa make a M1 carbine replica and Marlin also used to make a M1 style .22 - these are semi autos though so don't know if you're allowed them in Aus. You could try to find a .22 SMLE trainer rifle for those ANZAC feels
>>
Don't know what the current ones are like, but I know someone who has one of those k98 copies and it is excellent. shoots amazingly well. they are fairly expensive though. Consider the TOZ 78-16 from the same guy who sells those ones new - not much more, but you get 2x10rnd and 2x5rnd mags included. very accurate, and not the slightest bit fussy about ammo type.
>>
>>29319167
Why do you want something that can kill ausbro?
You gonna shoot up your local school?
You don't need one, and get help to your mental problems
>>
>>29319953
Nah semi auto .22s are restricted too because the aus government basically banned semi auto by definition

Those are norinco jw15's in a mauser style stock. Jw15's are chinese copies of cz452's

Now a cz452 is one of the best .22 rifles you can get (without spending thousands) so that rifle will be a decent quality copy of a great design.

You can get a regular jw15 for only around $300 so keep in mind you are getting a $300 rifle in a more expensive cool looking stock, if that price difference is worth it to you then go for it.

Personally id just get the real deal and grab a cz452 which is a perfect first firearm, then grab a real milsurp mauser later on to scratch your mauser itch.

Where in ausfagland you located?
>>
>>29319953
Oh baby a .22 SMLE would be so good from what I've seen there a bit out of my price range for a first rifle though.
>>
>>29320192
The CZ's do look nice and really aren't that much more than the Norincos. I might just do that and learn on something quality. I've done a fair bit of shooting before just never owned. Thanks m8.

Melbourne, by the way.

A question for you Vic/Melb guys, who do you prefer to buy from?
I'm QLD but I'm mates with one of the shops down there and he loves me and seems like a solid shop, but anyway just wondering who you guys use?
>>
>>29319167
Didn't we discuss this on Steam?
Just get a 452..
>>
>>29320243
Mauser, nugger, enfield, howa, adler

Its like you're me but with more money
>>
>>29320194
Would be no good as a first rifle unfortunately. They are all training rifles converted from regular lee enfields rather than built as a .22 from the ground up

So there is no working magazine or anything, you just have to load one round into the chamber, fire, then the empty round drops down unto the magazine to be emptied later
>>
>>29320243
Is the 4th gun from left a Marlin ?

Nah i just have my priorities too much in shooting, my rifles are worth more than the car I drive
>full incognito mobile
>>29320255
I live near clayton, but I'll make the drive to gunco for guns/smithing because they are an awesome store, and on the same trip I'll go to gun emporium because the specialise in supplying bulk cheap range ammo here
>>
>>29320321
That sneaky P plate, solid, glad I'm off mine.

But yea fair enough, I have no idea about the suburb locations in Melbourne but I hear gun emporium is pretty good. Not to be a shill but High Grove Firearms is pretty cool and friendly, my next trip to Melbourne I'll be doing a gun shop crawl and see them all. Might see my mates at Beretta too.
>>
>>29320321
Noice, I'm near Oakleigh myself. Any decent shops down our way? St. Albans is a bit out of my way at the moment but I'll make sure to give Gunco a look.

Is that a turkish mauser btw? I see them often for only a few hundred dollars and wonder if theyre any good or not, got an israeli mauser myself for dat 7.62 fun
>>
>>29320345
$5000 4 years ago with 70,000k's

Being a car guy I wanted something cool and unique but god damn i couldnt pass up that value

Last service was 10,000k's over honestly because i just didnt have time and when i did I couldnt be fucked and the service came out to $150 total

The only reason I want to sell it is its FWD

>>29320334
I have a mate who swears by hall's, im not a huge fan however thats only because of the staff ive been served by

I cant work out clayton
Half of the time theyre fudds and only stock hunting ammo
But then they were the main distributor of the Adler here for cheaper than most... And will have random tactical guns time to time
However if youre willing to make the trip i think gunco are the best in Melbourne
>>
>>29320341
Oops, my post about gun shops was for you
>>29320386
>>
>>29320386
Well Hall's is no where near me, have met the owner and he seems alright, he has the old pub/bar owner mentality though and it will be his downfall unfortunately. I used to work at my local big one so I guess I am kinda bias, however there is a reason and emphasis on *used to* lol.

I'm thinking Gunco, Gun Emporium, High Grove(again I know them and he's awesome and loves me), Claytons, and whoever else is around.
I guess I'll also see the sights as well and whatnot.
>>
>>29320386
Eh, FWD is alright, I was at a track last weekend where a Megane Cup fucking wrekt an AMG E55 and a VE SSV, there was also an NA Fiat 500 that beat the SSV too.
>>
>>29320412
Not bad in a hatch, in a full sized sedan there is insane understeer not to mention it eats its front tyres like its an olympic sport
>>
>>29320406
Ah my bad, im trying to remember where certain shops are, i only really go to clayton, emporium and gunco now

Melbourne firearms has one young guy who knows his shit and i swear would be the type to browse /k/ but the store besides that guy is shit
>>
>>29320439
I reckon a Megane would weigh similar to your Avalon, don't let lazy old tech write it off for you, modern fwd with decent LSD's can be pretty impressive.
>>
>>29320452
Do any of them have cool displays?
Obviously my actual purchasing needs are fulfilled up here but always like seeing how other guys do it.
The one thing I do like about Vic is duck season. Wish we could shoot ducks up here, the trade-off I guess is we have pigs, deer, dogs and every other pest everywhere and can go any time.
>>
>>29320458
My cousin has a megane rs250, that thing is the reason im trying to work out what hot hatch still has a decent boot to carry guns/ammo

>>29320406
Also centerway are really fucking cool, i think its a prerequisite to work there that you have to be a top bloke
>>
>>29320477
And bladed laws are way less retarded everywhere else.
>>
>>29320477
Gunco have an awesome new store thats massive and expensive precision guns on the floor to fingerfuck

They even have a custom engraved .500nitro on the floor behind glass....pricetag: $160,000
>>
>>29320478
I'll add centerway to the list.
>>29320489
>$160,000
I have seen more expensive, however I must see this one.
>>29320481
Melb also has those hook turns or whatever and that scared the fuck outta me the first time I was in a taxi and they did it.
>>
Savage Mk2 BTVS any good for a first rifle?
>>
>>29320511
Only very close to the city and they really make sense, better than american 4 way stop signs
>>
>>29320533
Brilliant for the range, heavy for hunting
>>
>>29320533
Yes, if it fits you. They fit some people and they don't fit others, if it doesn't fit you then it won't be good anyway. Some people shit on Savage, however at the end of the day they are decent rifles.

>>29320539
That may be true, however without knowing wtf was going on I was in for quite a shock.

Nothing wrong with a savage mk2. However you should play with a couple of rimfires before making your descision. You should be able to figure out pretty quickly which one you like the most. At the end of the day, they will all do the exact same thing almost as well as eachother so its more up to which one feels nicer to you

>Super evil repeating lever-action death shotgun

I thought people flipped out really hard about those? Do you live on a farm or something?
>>
>>29320641
Not him, but it was the greens and media who freaked out, I don't think it actually got banned anywhere.
>>
>>29319167
Ive bought one of these, mainly as a plinker and to give my friends something to learn with.

Heavy for a .22, which adds a nice heft and authenticity to the replica, the older ones had an unsightly bright stained stock, the new ones look have a nicer dark stock.

Works well, actions not as smooth as an anschutz or anything, but functional.

If your after a field rifle, one of the sporter jws might be better, theyre lighter and some are threaded so you can stick a can on no probs.

They're legal, the importer can barely get any from the factory though unfortunately.
>>

Yeap, they're perfectly legal as a Cat A firearm, given that they fit the criteria, in W.A we even have a Cat A section for repeating shotguns A3.3 - lever and bolt action
