There's legitimate reasons for not wanting to wear a belt.
First and foremost is the fact that all belts are absolutely shitty at doing what they're intended to do. Think about the physics that hold up your pants when wearing a belt; you're essentially wrapping a strip of leather so tightly against you that you hope it's elasticity generates enough friction against your body to hold up the weight of your both your pants and your gun. Not only is that retarded and counter intuitive, but the normal force exerted through this method is prone to aggravate certain gastrointestinal conditions. This is the reason firemen wear suspenders instead of belts, because they are utilitarian and suspenders carry the heavy pants better. Literally the only reason to wear belts is if you're some /fa/ggot who wants to look flashy.

This. It's not friction but the conic shape of your waist. Some now make belts pre-shaped for this reason.
Suspenders still work better for heavy loads on the belt of course, but there are aesthetic and practical reasons against it.

You could probably get away with an Alessi "Deep Cover" holster, if you hook it around the top seam of youf jeans. It might even work with dress pants, but either way, you're going to have to judge the security yourself.

I recently had surgery, so I'm stuck wearing sweatpants. I hate them. I am however, carrying an Airweight S&W .38 in an Alessi Deep Cover. I've had this holster for years, and love it!
They used to only make it for the J Frame, but in looking at the website, seems they make it for all kinds of guns these days.

OP, it's physics. Unless your pants are made out of incredibly stiff material, they are not going to be strong enough to support the weight of a gun. They will fold over and try to fall down. My pants fit me relatively well, but I still wear a thick gun belt not to hold up my pants but to support the weight of my gun.
