At this point I'm tempted to just buy some QD Warnes.
>>29308660
Most highly trained and experienced long range and precision shooters are accustomed to mil dot. There's a decent market for that if you're dealing in high quality glass - Nikon, Leupold, Swarovski, etc.
>>29308718
the rings are through 3point5 too? I would have canceled and ordered somewhere else by now desu senpai
>>29308708
No matter what happens, I'll still have changed my gas block before he changed his. The scope will be icing on the cake.
>>29308718
I just got my rings on amazon.
>>29308725
Yeah they are. They were in the same order as the scope and a few other non-/k/-related items so I couldn't cancel it. Oh well, $24 for a set of 30mm QD rings is worth the wait I guess.
Besides, I can still shoot the gun the scope goes on, just have to put up with a chinweld because the scope's currently in a cantilever AR mount.
>44mm objective would normally be best suited to low/x-low rings on this gun
>instead they're in a 1.55" AR mount
The bottom of the objective is over an inch above the barrel.
>>29308734
They're 3x the price on Amazon though.
>>29308660
Does Home Depot or Lowes or Ace carry crush rings for muzzle devices?
>>29308835
Crush rings probably not but I've had okay luck finding timing washers.

Also nice rifle.
Currently have an unbuilt LR308 receiver set, debating on trying to get a .243 barrel for it or building it into a .308 tactical rifle. Already have an LR308 in .308, it's set up as a dedicated bench gun.
>24" barrel with a .900" barrel diameter from gas block to muzzle is heavy AF
The barrel alone weighs more than my SPR.
In.
Old sight pic of my psa upper.

>>29308882
Thanks. I had to wait for ages for the nightforce to come back from being fixed, still haven't zeroed it yet. Hoping to get out next week and put some rounds down range.
Have my other AR, it's only straight pull as I'm a bong.
How would you make a smg ar? Is there a way to fuck that gas tube off?

how does $40 shipped sound?
as for the raptor problem, basically, my raptor latch wore out and started hitting me in the nose when shooting.
after that i decided to fuck with it since the worse that could happen is it keeps hitting me in the nose when shooting.
i discovered that my raptor can be released by applying reward pressure to the body/shaft, without actually touching the levers.
i tried the same with a mil-spec one and it wouldn't budge, not even a little.
the problem is with the design of the raptor and the location of the springs or pivot points.
it's not a problem until it's a problem, but since i use my shit a lot, and rough, it's a problem for me now and now i want a bcm ch.
NOTE- i never modified the ch until AFTER it started malfunctioning.
If anybody wants a Magpul MVG that fits MOE hardware, let me know. I'll give it to you for cheap.
>accidentally bought the wrong Magpul hardware for my M-LOK rail.
>>29309789
Are you still committed to drilling bigger gas ports in your barrels, after making the weight of your buffer system fucking massive, thus inciting multiple problems that did not exist in the system as designed?
>>29309863
>Are you still committed to drilling bigger gas ports in your barrels
yes, did it to my noveske and pic is the result.
>thus inciting multiple problems that did not exist in the system as designed?
such as?
>>29308925
Vortex strike eagle.
>>29309876
The cascading effect of you ruined the last barrel you had drilling the port. It just seems like you are making the rifle more complicated than you have to.
If that's how your new barrel groups, you're fine. But I still feel like you're just adding problems into the equation.
>>29309884
the last barrel was a nitrided barrel, apparently those don't like being drilled.
i'm sticking with chrome lined from now on.
>>29309899
That's the impression I got, sounds like the nitrided steel mushroomed out for whatever reason, while the chrome is okay. My personal guess is you had too high of a speed for the nitrided barrel, because you did the same thing you did for the chrome. I'm not a machinist or materials engineer, I'm just guessing here.

Something somewhat compact without a shit ton of magnification, like in the 1-6x range. Something in ballpark of the Vortex Crossfire2, Strike Eagle, or Nikon P223 series. So many options in this range it's hard to pick one.

>>29310255
I own the vortex strike eagle and suggest it to anyone who will listen. I love it.
>>29310395
Depends on what you want and what your budget is.
>>29309979
That rifle looks sweet! 8/10
Please tell me how you got that Magpul AFG on your Keymod rail?
>>29310395
If you can get parts from one supplier, feel free to build it. Otherwise shipping costs can add up.
I bought mine assembled on account of the manufacturer discounting certain components
>>29310421
That's the AFG that mounts to a rail.
You can figure out the rest.
>>29310418
Budget is maybe 7-800. I want a 14.5 inch upper of as good of quality as possible. Mlok guard too. Match or very close to match quality as this will be my "main battle rifle" so to speak. Will be doing some hog hunting with it too if that changes anything.
>>29310426
Who did you get yours through and how much did it run you? Nice rifle.
>>29310418
parafag? You were a para what? I'm guessing you were a pair a high heels.
Fuckin cherry.
>>29310449
Thanks.
I built the lower myself for ~$200 maybe 250
Bought the upper assembled for ~$500
Optics/irons cost me another $200
The upper is from radical firearms - great quality but the wait times are literally insane.
>>29310439
I'd pick up a 14.5" upper assembled from BCM, then a low-pro gas block and the MLok rail of your choice, I'd recommend the Geissele Mk8.
Then you just remove the FSB, install the gas block, and install the rail, and pick a muzzle device to pin/weld.
>>29310472
Heeeey it's my favorite anon, here to lie on the internet about what a tough guy he is
>>29310475
Nice picture. When are you going to get a flip up front sight?
Any issues with the upper? Anything come loose?
>>29310435
Are you sure? It looks pretty close to the handguard for a rail to fit in there. Is that the normal AFG or the AFG2?
>>29309979
Noveske. Nice... I bet that cost a bit.
>>29310478
Except I can prove it and you are just a blow hard (at least that's what the satisfied people in your platoon claim).
>>29310496
AFG 2 I guess. I dunno. I can tell you for sure that is the version that mounts to a 1913 rail.
>>29310507
Parafag doesn't claim to be anything. Once upon a time he was in the Army and went to Airborne school. That's what I understand about him.

>>29310496
Do they make HK style front flipups? Mine works so well with the KAC I really cannot go back
The upper is squared away. Fit is great, finish is boring but flawless. There is -ZERO- play between the upper and the lower. I was legitimately surprised. But both came from Cerro forge (Keyhole) so I guess it's all to spec
I really just want to beat it up and see what happens down the road
>>29310549
I mostly use them to take pictures with my AR.
I mostly just open my mouth to suck in air after laughing too hard.

>>29310543
I had mbus pros but believe it or not the front one fucking snapped off. I removed the rear because it looked gay.
>>29310545
My gf grew up on that stuff and wanted to stick it on there. Hey, if playing ultimate ninja storm or whatever the fuck gets her more into vidya and a cheeky little sticker on a rifle gets her more into shooting I'm not about to complain.

I just bought one from primaryarms.
>>29310569
Interesting.
You could...get another set of BUIS. I guess.
I really should get a variable power optic someday.
>>29310576
I'm gonna use my disinclination to buying Troy products as an excuse to save some money for ammo - thanks for the info though. Hey let us know how they work for you, maybe I'll break down one day
>>29310570
That's good at least
>>29310593
Your front sight is already a Troy silly.
I have the same one.
>>29310589
I will, shit.
>>29310601
I know, we had this discussion
Fact is, even if I totally want a flip up front, I don't need it. That's why I'm trying to cling to troy hate now that I've discovered it
Also, I've concluded 20 round pmags are not aesthetic. Really hungry for a Lancer or something clear...
>>29310550
HW style front sight picture? Yeah I think the Troy ones have that. You really should try flip up fronts. I don't understand how so many people retain fixed front sights while using a red dot. Even if you're lower 1/3rd cowitness you're still covering a a lot of the FOV.
My Aero and Hardened Arms upper fit together real tight. My PSA and Hardened Arms has quite a bit of wobble.
>>29310560
Keeping your cool. I like it.
>>29310576
Bingo I thought it was Troy. Amazon has some cheap $25 knockoffs if you just want to try it out.
>>29310593
I really think you'll enjoy clearing up the FOV and sight picture by getting a flip front sight.
>>29310627
Carry on then.
>>29310631
Ah. I see. Either way, doesn't really matter. I think YHM makes H&K styled irons too if you actually want them.
As it stands, I'm debating just building a whole new upper with folding front sights so I don't have to replace the ones on this rifle.
And by debating I mean I don't have the pocket chedder for it right now, but it's on the list.
I like aluminum 20 rounders, but make it plastic and it's suddenly gay.
>>29310645
I spend way too much time here to get angry at people who want to be dumb very loudly.
>>29308660
I like Eotech's reticent best, wish more companies had more than just a dot
>>29310650
good to know thanks
>>29310645
I think the majority of AR owners are working with a standard A2 FSB...so a fixed front isn't unprecedented. In fact, I'm partial to milspec ergos/manual of arms, so not having to mess with a front sight is actually kinda comforting.
Time will tell...
>>29310682
Maybe holosun? There was somebody in here with a circle dot reticle. I even think you could toggle the outer 65moa circle and just have the dot
>>29310426
Why do you have such a high speed looking foredonger and an a2 grip? Your rifle looks confused and backwards.
Replaced my BCM dongle with a Magpul K2. Much more /comfy/ but no pics yet.
>>29310699
kek what retarded company made a rail with the keymod backwards?
>>29310707
I guess it's kinda why I keep my glock completely stock - I want a translatable manual of arms, which pretty much means austere milspec ergos
>nothing ambi
>nothing extended
>nothing lightened
I don't want to train with crutches, pick up somebody else's, and blame the gun if I'm shitty with it
>>29310733
Sides are backwards so accessories don't fall off if I bump into a wall or something. The bottom ones are standard to accommodate directly attachable grips
good eye though anon - manufacturer is radical firearms if you were legitimately curious
>>29310560
hows the bonsai tree coming along
>>29310785
Haven't planted it yet. Not sure where I want to put it. I would put it on my desk, but I dunno if these things actually require natural light....in which case it would not work.
>>29310565
Adjustable gas blocks are mostly used alongside suppressors, since there's a significant pressure difference when running suppressed vs. unsuppressed. If you don't plan on using a suppressor any time soon, there's no need for an adjustable gas block. Just make sure you get the right diameter for your barrel, most are .750 but a few of the lighter-profile barrels use .625 diameter.

With all due respect friend I very much like your rifle and have a great deal of admiration and camaraderie with you simply because you're a fellow firearms enthusiast, but please consider the importance and significance of leading a healthy lifestyle. We only have one body, and our bodies are what carry us through this short, brief, and wonderful life, why not take care of it so that it can best serve you.
Simply cutting down on beer or cutting out soda can make a world of difference. If you can avoid processed and fast foods you're already on a good track. Throw in some cardiovascular exercise a few times a week and I can promise you that you'll begin to see results.
Please consider it friend. There are many resources out there for you to use, the last thing is simply making the decision to start changing your lifestyle.

I have the UTG pro 15 rail which came with two picatinny rail sections installed. I'm getting a bcm gunfighter vertical grip 3, should I get the picatinny version and mount to the rail (circled in pic) or take the rail off and buy the keymod version?

not so much worried on the price as I am with sturdiness and long term reliability.
On one hand the rifle came with these mounting blocks to be used, but on the other why not just attach two pieces together instead of having a 3rd unnecessary piece holding them together.
>>29311256
I was also gonna mention the 'points of failure' philosophy, and agree it makes more sense to cut out the middle man (rail)
I'm confident that the direct-attach grips are just as sturdy, if not more, than using the rail intermediary
>>29311256
Plus if you rely on the rail, you can only put it on the rail (obvious, I know)
With the keymod version and an empty bottom, you can easily experiment with the full length to determine the best position for yourself
