Who all is going?

I have a freebie ACU digital backpack, I printed out a big /k/ and put it on there so I should be easy to spot.

Come see what it looks like when a world-class arms museum throws up.

I also have an ulterior motive for posting this on /k/

Most of the attendees and vendors there are old, real old, REALLY REALLY OLD.

If America is going to have a gun culture in the future, a lot more young guys need to come out and see this stuff.

Pic related: Seller bought this from the DCM in 1957 and it sat in his basement until he sold it to me. Wasn't cheap, but you aint finding it in a typical gun show

I want to go, but idk. Parking just seems a pain in the ass.
>>
>>29303694
>>29303801

For the record, I'm saying th is because I hate driving in cities/downtown.
>>
>>29303811
It's in Timonium/Cockeysville, so not really downtown. There's plenty of parking at the fairgrounds too.

DUDE! Its at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. Its north of Baltimore in Timonium, no downtown driving whatsoever.

Here are the bro tier directions:

1. Get to the top of the Baltimore Beltway

2. Go North on I-83 towards PA

3. Those signs for the Fairgorunds? IGNORE THEM! Keep going and take Exit 17 (Padonia Road) East

4. Take the first right onto Deerco Road

5. Make a left into the Light Rail parking lot.

6. Walk to the Light Rail platform and voila! The back entrance to the Fairgrounds.

Pic related: Picked it up about a decade ago, Savage 1903

Bonuses to parking at the Light Rail station

There is a gun shop (Continental Arms) on Deerco Road with an indoor range.

If you go right on Padonia (away from I-83) there is Padonia Ale House, which is a decent place to get lunch.

Pic related from last year: Sears Ranger 101.3 version of the Marlin Model 80 O/U Shotgun. For three-fiddy I got admittance to Club O/U

Bumping with another MACA Show

Marlin Model 47 rimfire pump, circa 1930-31

In the middle of the Great Depression, Marlin Firearms wanted to incentivize buying their stock. For every four shares of Marlin stock bought, the shareholder got a Model 47 rifle.

They were never listed in catalogs and they have a cyanide bluing finish. They are pretty darned snowflake as far as rimfire pumps go.

The one I picked up was missing some internal parts and the front/backed were mismatched. The saving grace was that the bore is excellent.
>>
>>29304691
If we're showing off purchases, I picked these up last year.
>>
>>29303694
Can we buy shit?
>>
>>29303694
Are there gonna be any non neutered black rifles there now that y'all won that AWB lawsuit?

Or are most folks gonna keep to the antigun status quo because of fear that it gets appealed to supreme court.
>>
>>29304924
Nope.
MSP still enforces the law in it's totality.

The MD Collector's Show is not allowing MD banned guns or any non antique Handguns.
>>
>>29304919

YES!!!

However, the bargains are few and far between, most people know what they have and price it accordingly.

Antique arms show. No black rifles, but also no shitty knife sellers, beef jerkey or people shilling cheap tasers.

>>29304919
There's a lot for sale and it might be pricey, but you wont be able to find much of it anywhere else.

Pic slightly related, one of John Paul Jones' swords, though the price was put that low as a joke.
>>
>>29304942
Thats so dumb.

God gun grabbers are infuriating.

Enforcing in this case completely federally illegal laws.
>>
>>29304942

Lemme explain a bit more, when I say "its like a world class arms museum threw up" the emphasis should be on ARMS MUSEUM.

You are going to see a lot of very old things, I am talking blackpowder rifles going back to the middle ages up to about the Second World War.

-----------

As for the lawsuit, the Supreme Court sent it back and said "apply strict scrutiny this time". If they find the ban is unconstitutional, you have two Circuits in disagreement--meaning more likely the Supreme Court will step in.

Which is why Obama really really REALLY wants that Galand guy confirmed now now now now now
>>
>>29304951
Can you buy like Nuggets or SKSs and rifles like that.

Or just artifacts?

I am coming
>>
>>29304969

No beef jerky, no tacticool stuff, no cleaning supplies, no bulk ammo (a few boxes of vintage, yes), and basically nothing newer than the 1950s.

You WILL find a metric ton of bayonets, vintage gear, some uniforms for the Camofags, and stuff from feudal Japan and medieval Europe.

You go to see snowflakes.

>>29305009

You can buy Nuggets, but keep in mind they are going to be the rare and expensive ones, like near-mint M91s, M1907 Dragoons, and more obsucre Finnish ones.

No on the SKSs, but I have seen SVT-40s, Hakims, and FN-49s before.

Expect to see a lot of vintage Winchester rifles, old European revolvers, blackpowder shotguns, super-ass expensive antique fudd guns, and all kinds of rifles from both World Wars

Picked this up: A Winchester 1890 that someone re-barreled with a German GECO 1919 bolt-action barrel. Probably during the Great Depression when labor was cheaper than a new barrel.
>>
Even if you don't want to buy anything, there's still some pretty awesome shit to look at. And a lot of places literally bring in displays.

Another snowflake I picked up years ago.

Savage/Stevens/Springfield was looking for a way to sell more of the Model 6/87 rifles. They hit upon the idea to put it into a military-style stock with military-style aperture sight. It was sold as the 87M (for musket) as Sears also put it in their catalog as the Ranger 101.15

Somehow in collector circles rumor circulated it was actually a "Garand Trainer Prototype" and some unscrupulous sellers put stock cartouches on them.

I lucked out to get this 87M at the MACA Show for a decent price because Bubba had put a Redfield-style peep sight on it and bunged up the back.
>>
Anyone wanna meet up and cuddle after the show :3
>>
How long you guys planning to be there and when you planning to get there?

Wanna know my chances of finding one of you.

I'll do the /k/ on backpack thing too. See if that helps me stand out
>>
I'll be doing one of the Crimson Caravans Spice and Wolf patches on a black backpack, with an OD green T-shirt
>>
Look for a tall guy with ginger beard, he'll be wearing a Dutch camo t shirt, like the ones that used to br sold at NE

No, but I would join for lunch at Padonia Ale House, or maybe some range time at Continental Arms

I plan on getting there about 9:30 and typically it takes me almost three hours go go through everything.

HERE IS AN EASY PROPOSAL:
At the top of each hour, meet under the sign for row K towards the entrance/concession stand.

Pic related, this was under the buttplate of a Winchester 1890 from many years ago, long since traded, never could read it

Okay /k/romades, going to call it a night.

Next time I post the MACA Show will be happening.

Last one for tonight, picked this up 2-3 years ago. When Samco Global Arms was still going they sold No 2. Mk IV SMLE trainers for $600 a pop. That is what I paid for this No 2. RF Trainer. Way cooler, way rarer, and an antique to boot.

Its happening!

Waiting on some buddies than going to drive up there.

Wearing a green-and-white striped rugby shirt under a khaki windbreaker. WIll have the ACU digital backpack with /k/ on the back.

Not mine but a family friend picked this up years ago. A Savage Model 29
>>
Just a warning, the line this year seems much longer than last year.
>>
>>29309877
Line?
>>
Anyone still there? Look for a tall guy with two /k/ patches
>>
>>29311325

I just made it home, I had /k/ on a backpack. Only one /k/roade found me.

Scored an antique Schmidt-Rubin .22 trainer.
>>
Anyone see that based guy in the long fur coat?
>>
>>29312117
I'm still here, came a but later than most I guess, got my /k/ patches on thou. It's raining heavy here

Scored a 92 berthier for 250 mint condition except no rear sling swivel
>>29312154
I saw him
>>
>>29312306

DUDE! Row A or B (left side if you are facing the entrance) back half. Guy had a Savage 99 in .30-30 for $475, is it still there?
>>
Stuff I passed on:

Older U.S.-made Hammer double missing a chunk of its stock, $125

Savage 29B rimfire pump, again stock damage, $150

Marlin Model 90 16-Gauge O/U, $375

FOUR H&R Model 65s, all with 4-digit SNs, all under $500

Early Savage 99, .30-30, Takedown, $475

Thats the "Seriously considering" group. I saw a metric fuckton of Arisakas, Mausers, and M1903s; quite a few SMLEs and M197s, and just a handful of Nuggets.

Insane amount of bayonets, insane prices.

Was I right? Is it like an arms museum threw up?
>>
>>29312486
Saw that, do not know if still there. I'm heading home now anyway.

Saw a good condition carcano for 200. But a LGS has one in bit less condition for 100, which ima buy.

M44 mosins were starting at 300 there too.
>>
>>29312154

Someone should've taken photos for /CGL/ since its the only arms show that has cosplayers.
>>
I met with someone with a "/k/" clipped to their backpack early on. I managed to get a Veterelli for $120, as well as a French helmet from WWI, and some French documents/magazines.
>>
>>29313308

Probably me, are you the /k/omrade who was going to attend anyway?

Swiss or Italian Vetterli?
>>
>>29313545
'71 Swiss
>>
>>29313621

Saw several Vetterlis, don't know enough about them other than not to try and shoot the Italian ones converted to 6.5 Carcano with surplus ammo
>>
>>29313621

My Swiss miss is an 1889 Schmidt-Rubin (manufactured in 1892) that was upgrade to the 96/11 configuration and then converted to .22 in 1920. This was from the Swiss Dealer down in the lower letters.

The guys in F said they had one 1911 and K31 conversion each, and they also sold out. To be honest, I would've preferred the K31 conversion because this sucker is loooong.

* See if that Savage 99 Takedown in .30-30 is still there (pic related)

* See if that Rashid is still there

* Buy H&R Model 65 stock for $60

* Look for an inexpensive Garand trigger housing and Clip Latch.

* See if the guy with the Astra 600 and Manurhin Walther PP mag is willing to bundle

* Help buddy find SMLE bayonets (one WWI and one India Pattern) at a reasonable price

The good thing about the 87M is that most of the components are shared with the 87A, so they are largely restorable,

The snowflake parts as best I can determine....

* stock and handguard

* magazine tube (the 87A cartridge slot has a piece of sheetmetal covering it)

* the chintzy-ass bands (pic related)

* front sight protector

* The rear sight (the one from a Reising SMG is nearly identical so you can use that)

---------

Heading to the show soon, waiting on a buddy. Fortunately its not snowing (yet). I'll have /k/ on my backpack again.
>>
Day 2 report

Lots less people there, but at least vendors were willing to cut more bargains.

Almost bought a Pattern 14 for $400 (didn't have the cash). Almost bought a Marlin 890 but the guy was being a dick about selling to an FFL (he didn't want the gubmint in his bidness)

Picked up some Nugget pouches, an SKS pouch, some pistol ammo, and two SMLE bayonets for decent prices.

Met one other /k/omrade there, and a normie who asked what the /k/ on my backpack stood for.
