The base rifle is a PAP AK. It shoots bullets reliably.
Those AR mag adapters are notoriously shit and often seat the mag too high leading to stoppages, or too low leading to bolt over round.
I've shot one of these. When the magazine fits the adapter right, and it sometimes doesn't, it's a moderately accurate leadslinger like every other Serbian AK.
What else can possibly be said about the rifle, other than its uglier than your fat mother?

Reliability aside (not saying I agree with you, but we'll never be able to convince each other), the AK platform has a ton of other qualities that make it better for SHTF (which is what this thread is about). It's easier to strip, easier to clean, requires less maintenance, has less parts (which means less breakage), it doesn't shit where it eats, and has a better track record in its actual, historical deployment history.
Additionally, why pay an extra $500 for Arsenal shit that's heavier, doesn't have gas adjustments, and requires snowflake magazines? Hate on the mag adapter all you want--it does the job and doesn't break.

The merits of an AK are cheapness, ease of use, cheap parts, and the ability to either make your own replacement parts or throw the gun out when its run its route.
In the situation you are in, those advantages are negated or flat out rendered untrue by the situation your find yourself in.

That is a good point. 5.56 is not tapered like the 7.62x39 which means it is easier to have failure to extract problems. Honestly it seems fucking silly to make a straight wall case for a modern combat firearm but god we fucking went and did it.

5.56 has about a .020" taper from the widest section (not the rim) to the narrowest before it bottlenecks.
It's hard to see, but it's there. Hence why 30 round mags have that curve to them.

To elaborate, testing showed that you don't need as extreme a taper as 7.62x39 has in order to improve extraction reliability. Even a very slight taper will help keep it from sticking to the chamber.
