There are plenty of guns that I think of as overrated, stupid, ugly, impractical, etc. But I can never bring myself to hate a gun. Just feels too liberal.
Unless the reason to hate it is because it's highly unreliable and it's being marketed as a self defense tool. That shit is scummy and can get innocent people killed.

The nagant design was needlessly complicated, added another point of failure, and I suspect it makes the trigger pull feel mushier than it should. Besides, a revolver design limits ammo capacity a lot more than a tube mag does. I suspect that the slightly better firing rate doesn't really make up for all the downsides vs. a lever action design. And oldschool lever action rifles look pretty damn cool anyways.

ARAK is fine, and does what it says on the box. You get swappable barrels / calibers and there's a version that can eject to either side, which is nifty for lefties. The problem with it is that it's heavy as fuck and offers literally zero advantages over a regular AR besides those two things. I mean, you can already have multiple uppers for an AR giving you multiple caliber options. A complete upper is more expensive than a bolt + barrel assembly for the ARAK though.
What you're buying is an upper that costs as much as a complete rifle, and weighs as much as one two, while only offering a couple of extra features. They're well made though, and Faxon has good customer support and consistent manufacturing.
So basically, if you don't mind having a heavy as fuck gimmick rifle, go for it. You're still better off with that than you would be with an ACR.
