The Sten was made in factories. You're thinking of the Luty smg.

It is a civilian shotgun re-purposed for the resource war. They were made with war time needs in mind, rather than getting new manufacturing technology a magazine was built to be attached to the feeder tube. It is a magazine feeding a tube.

This is the company that does the least amount of work possible. They probably think that shotgun ammo would blow up the pipe because it's so powerful.

As always, the modding community has to make up for Bethesda's incredible incompetence when it comes to firearms. And gameplay balance. And textures. And armor design. And the ui. And general performance. And pretty much everything else that I can't think of right now.

>>
>>29285850
Yeah, but the rifle looks like it's straight blowback. I guess there could be a lifter or something, but that just makes it more complex with no benefit.
>>
>>29285745

It doesn't make any sense. You can't just have a tube spring like you would in a pump action shotgun because the spring would overtake the entrance of the magazine by the second shot.
You would have a spring in the magazine driving the shells upward, a piston under the barrel feeding the shells towards the rear, counteracted by a recoil spring located...somewhere. Because the magazine tube is inline with the piston, the shells themselves have to act as the rest of the rod. Somewhere under the action you have to have either another spring or a lever actuated by the piston to feed into the chamber. There is nowhere for a bolt to go rearwards, so I presume it has a fixed firing pin and has to extract by moving forward perhaps collapsing over the barrel, but what moves the chamber/bolt forward to perform the extraction?

Why would you even want such a design? Why would you put the weight of the magazine so far forward and make it so complicated?

I don't think anyone at Bethesda actually looked at a gun during the development of either Fallout 3 or 4.
>>
>>29285691
pipe guns are beautiful things... they wont last long, they have low accuracy and are dangerous to use, but they go Boom and thats enough for me to love them.

Also, you can actually build them right so that they wont be an unreliable piece of crap, where you aware of that? if you dont have the skills it doesnt mean someone else cant do it.

>>

>The NPCs respond the same way regardless of which you pick

I personally like how since bethesda took over fallout the concept of people rebuilding has just gone out the window. There's no new construction, just people living in ruins.

That doesn't work because there's no way to force the shell down the tube after it comes out of the drum.

this pissed me off because having actual Lewis Guns and FG-42 in the game would be awesome, and it could fit. Hell, make em both in .308 and say it's captured Chinese surplus that was rechambered for American shooters. But this shit is just stupid. And while they were busy making the Brotherhood of Steel, they should have tossed a chopped down magazine-fed shotgun with explosive slugs that can be fired one-handed in power armor. And the laser rifles need an under barrel grenade launcher. Oh and reskin the hunting rifle as a mix of mausers, nagants and enfields with same explanation as the Lewis guns and FG-42. So many little things would make it so much better.

Rod stock (steel, of course) from the hardware store is perfectly fine for every single small arms caliber imaginable, hell, you can even get a big fucking billet and bore it through if you want a .50BMG rifle. Things get even easier once you figure out that a shitty Chinese-made press can be used to stamp sheet metal into basic shapes with a simple die, stamped metal receivers are just easier to work with if you can spot weld (easiest type of welding) and you can make a lighter gun. Worried about pressure? Use thicker metal, use powerful bottle jack.

Most of what's shown in Fallout 4 is essentially Bethesda devs being fucking retarded and not realizing that there's a whole wide world of possibilities. They already feature working machine tools, so clearly some fucking faction should have figured out that "hey we can go to the old Corvega factory and start producing guns."

That reminds me of another thing: everyone at Bethesda is either too stupid or too lazy to switch to an engine that isn't a piece of shit. They've kept the same engine since Morrowind and either had neither the willpower nor the ability to port over spears from that into Oblivion or Skyrim. Oh and it's not hard either, the animation files are the problem but TESC isn't the same kit the devs use so modders can't do it so easily; they certainly don't want modders making them look like incompetent shitheads especially after Todd fucking Howard said it was impossible. That's why we will never, ever see another Fallout: New Vegas because it showed the world how shitty Bethesda is at making Bethesda games.

>>29286823
The timeline splits well before 1962.
>>
>>29293320
Oh lmao I forgot to include why that Corvega thing pisses me off.

Yeah, the original Fallout 3 was supposed to feature a LOT of vehicles. Shit like actual functioning cars, Caesar's Legion having animal-drawn chariots made from truck cabs and shit like that but Bethesda took over. What we got was Fallout 3: a cramped, crowded world that was essentially a total conversion mod for Oblivion. Seriously. That's ALL it is, IIRC they even reused some assets from Oblivion because apparently being original is hard.

So what do we have now? In Fallout 4? We have "functioning" vehicles but they're a lot like Skyrim's dragons in that they're just a theme park ride. We should have far more than that. Remember the Dragonborn DLC? Oh yeah, riding dragons! Turns out if you pull up the editor the dragons have fixed paths, "rails" that they can't deviate from and this is glaringly obvious if you fly around on a dragon's back.

Why?

They're too lazy to advance beyond the same engine, they do the absolute bare minimum and then shit out a broken, buggy game that has half-baked features and glaring inconsistencies. Peter Molyneux has been turned into a pariah for doing this same exact shit, EA has been criticized to hell and back for repackaging the same shit. These things that make people swear up and down they will never, ever buy those games are EXACTLY what Todd Howard and Bethesda does. Todd recently got a lifetime achievement award while people are still praising RPS for crucifying Peter Molyneux until the man started to literally cry, calling it "hard-hitting video game journalism," whatever the fuck that is. I don't see RPS or anyone else going "hey Bethesda, when are you going to pay modders for unfucking every game you've released after Morrowind?"

No, instead Bethesda's trying to con MORE money out of the players by having "paid mods." Modders would have gotten, what, 10% of that money? For doing 99% of the work? Nice. Real nice.

fucking bethcucks and thier halfassed difficulty scaling. All they had to do is take a feather from obsidians hat and remove all the damn level scaling and do what their fluff already said: shit gets harder the farther south you go. Instead they make everythings spawns and gear level dependant and just gave raiders with pipe pistols 500 health in the SE of the map at lv50+ instead of not having raiders with pipe pistols in a high level area.

hey, at least modders pre creation kit have already unfucked the core game. Pic related: my guy with a personal jetpack, carbon fiber BoS combat armor, with an exoskeleton frame W/ T45 arms rigged to it

Only problem with FO4 now is the linear mainquest being necessary to advance the story; all they had to do is "skyrim with guns" but they fucked it up with the lol1town, mass effect wheel, and "lel what do u mean the mainquest of FO3 is the worst part of the game, lets copy ourselves for FO4!" bullshit.

the Bethesda devs missed the point of pipeguns, in game some are actually good, and in the case of the pipe revolver it out damages the normal .44, in real life they're dog shit made in desperate times and aren't meant to last, and will probably kill the user .

with a black reskin the pipe guns don't look so dogshit, but the pipe revolver is probably the most useless weapon in the game due to recoil and fire rate. Once again, all they had to do was make the pipe guns Lutys with a rifle/pistol stock, long and short barrels, extendo clipz, and a improvised silencer made out of a purified water can or something. Have the pipe rifle be an improvised break action or even a screw on barrel that hits way above it's weight class but has a dogshit reload time.

>have luty you freshly stripped from the corpse of a raider
>"light bolt" receiver mod
>uncontrollable recoil but empties a 30 round mag in 1/4 of a second

I think they could have added it as a new weapon without taking out old ones. Like a specialist rifle for the power armor troop because they were treated as super special, but they took out weapons from 3 and new vegas like the Sniper rifle, the service rifle and assault carbine, the assault rifle, the marksmen carbine, and the SMGs that all made pretenses to being military issue.

considering the player character literally walks out of the vault with a weapon superior to all the pipe weapons, they sure put a lot of work into making the gun people don't even pick up to sell (because the weight to caps ratio is dogshit for everything but scrap, food, and ammo) let alone equip.

why didn't the tards at bethesda simply type "improvised firearms" into google like they did "machinegun" to make the lewis-maxim brand 30lb assault rifle? Between the dozens of mexican .22 subguns, lutys, and slambangs they'd see they should have been able to cobble together a few weapon models that weren't "make it gun shaped, but shitty looking!"

For so much effort and so much standardization of pipe weapons across the commonwealth, the raiders/poorfags should be cranking out prewar sheet metal subguns and slambangs. Instead we got what we got. Millennium we need you to unfuck this.
