Any advice for a commiefornia resident looking to purchase a long rifle without a bullet button?

I am debating either a mini 14 tactical or some kind of vepr.

Don't want an m1a because my brother already has one
>>
>>29210433
Move to AZ, UT or NV!
>>
>>29210454
This.

You could get one of those retarded 'non pistol grip' stocks for an AR-15.

Keltec SU-16 but that's a gamble considering their quality.

Mini-14 because lol bill ruger... burn in hell jackass.

Hm... not sure what else OP.

Do you get anything in the mail after purchasing a long gun n California? I'm going to buy one for home defense, but some of the people in my household aren't very pro-gun. If they see that "department of firearms" on the envelope, they might freak out.

Any recommendations? I'm thinking of getting either a Mossberg 500/Maverick 88. What are some nice short rifles? The shorter the better for easier storage.

Get an AR dude. Just whatever you do, totally don't get one of those little magnetic buttons you stick in the bullet button and make it act as a normal mag release.

Mini's and all that are cool, but AR's are here to stay for now.

Also, 760 reporting
>>
>>29213329
Also, no. I've never gotten any and no one I know of has.

If you don't tell them they won't know.
However, if you apply for a CCW(where applicable) they will talk to family and neighbors (you sign a release form at the beginning authorizing them to do so)
>>
>>29213329
>department of firearms
Definitely nothing from them.
>>
>>29213359
>>29213342
not him, but i've read that you get a letter from the BUREAU of firearms, alcohol and tobacco about gun safety. this is false, right? is it a california thing?
>>
>>29213391
I've never had that and never heard of it.

You can always call LGS and they will prob say the same thing.

In a lot of ways, California is made out worse than it is. Yes, the laws are fucking awful.
But the gun community is absolutely massive. I live in an area of like 330k people, and we have like 10-15 gun stores.

If you buy anything gun related from any specific store or another where you use CC and include address, good chance NRA will begin sending you mail.

Dude, realy are you 12? Are you getting you knowledge of California gun laws from New Yorkers, Canadians, Brits and Australians who are trolling you to make themselves feel better?

Do some research and go to Calguns for their flowchart and as fir the process to get a permit and buy a gun, any gun store employee will be more than happy to help you.

Sometimws I feel that a lot of these "CA fag in help" are false flag operations to spread disinformation.

If you live in LA you'll get a purchasers letter a few days after you fill out the paperwork. It says "from the office of the city attorney" or some such

Any centerfire long rifles require bullet button unless they have fixed magazines. So you could get an SKS or a mosin. You can also get a 80% lower and make an unregistered AR.

Is that Los Angeles only or all of Los Angeles County?
>>
>>29213883
But Trutanich is no longer city attorney. Will the letter still be mailed?
>>
>>29213329
not currently, but there are several senate and assembly bills and one ballot initiative that will have the DOJ mail you a statement of firearms requirements in the mail when you buy one.

CA considers short barrel rifles to be nuisances and assault weapons, you would need to jump through a lot of hoops to get one.

otherwise the shortest thing you could get that isn't a pistol would be a bullpup of some sort or a pistol gripped shotgun. AOWs are california legal as well if you want to go the NFA route.
>>
>>29213464
No, it's true. if you live in LA (city), you get a letter from the state AG and the LAPD about your purchase that more or less threatens you with jail.

So no letter if I buy from OC?

I'm sorry, /k/. I just want to buy a firearm for home defense. This California thing is really annoying -- and sometimes intimidating
>>
>>29213969
Are you fucking stupid? It's based on where your house is.
>>
>>29213969
yes you get a letter. you have an address (presumably) in the City of Los Angeles. the letter itself is sent from the CADOJ because you submitted a DROS to the state. that letter is authorized and endorsed by the LAPD, and the authority is from a city ordinance that the city council voted into law.

as long as you are an LA resident, you will get a letter for every DROS'd gun you buy.
>>
>>29213868
they are trying really hard to ban maglocks and "bullet buttons" right now. Let's see what happens, we might just lose everything
>>
>>29213969
california hates guns. it will do everything in its power to keep you disarmed. it will make it confusing to stay legal, it will make it expensive, it will make it annoying, and it will make owning them filled with bullshit (like closing down shooting ranges throughout the state, and declaring no shooting on public land for wildfire concerns... for the last 20 years straight. it will keep tabs on you, your family, where you live, and how you vote. the letter is a reminder that they know you have a gun and where you live.

just get a friend to buy it for you, then you guys can legally transfer it through a dealer

I went with an SKS to not have to deal with the "assault weapon" bullshit. Nice cheap ammo, but they have gone up in price recently. $350-400 is probably the cheapest you can get them now.

>>
>>29213997
is it a Charter City, or a member of one of the 15 districts? then yeah, you get one. if it's LAC but it's own city like Culver City, then no, you are incorporated as a city in your own right.
>>
>>29214028
I have no idea, honestly. I live in a smaller city named Cerritos
>>
>>29214008
all dealer transfers in CA (including PPTs) must be DROS'd. used to be handguns only, but now it's all guns.

the only exception is for cops for duty weapons, FFLs receiving inventory, or C&R long guns to C&R/COE holders
>>
>>29214055
no, Cerritos is an incorporated city, so i don't think you'd get any letter as long as that is your city of residence (driver's license, insurance, et c all have a Cerritos address).
>>
>>29214078
Thanks. I'll definitely look into it more
>>
fucking lel california. do you faggots need two forms of IDs to get a long gun like you do for handguns now?

>>29213995

>>29213997
Symantecs friend are incorperated or unincorperated county of Lost Angels.

County or city?
>>
>>29214083
well here's the short answer on buying a CA shotgun:

1. select a CA model that isn't prohibited on two different lists and isn't overpriced. this is pretty easy if you buy in a store.

2. submit and pay for a safety test, pass this test

3. submit and pay for a DROS, which includes a 10 day waiting period.

4. submit and pay for a 4473 NICS check

5. you may or may not have to buy a gun lock too.

6. if you pass everything and pay about $100 over the normal price, you pick up your shotgun.

it gets more complicated if it's a semi auto centerfire rifle or semi auto shotgun or handgun.

in other states:

1. buy gun
2. fill out and pay 4473 NICS check
3. take gun home.
>>
>>29214090
no. you need 2 proofs of residency to buy anything other than rifles or shotguns. "ID" doesn't count. it's specific to proofs of residency.
>>
>>29214063
If you actually use the C&R license to buy a gun, don't you have to register it with the CA DOJ within 5 days (if it's an out-of-state purchase), or 30 days (if it's an in-state purpose)?

I sent in the paperwork for the C&R and the COE today, so I've been looking up the requirements if you use it.
>>
>>29214115
at the very least, you don't need two forms for a long gun. when do you think it will be implemented?
>>
It wouldn't be this way if it weren't for niggers and spics. Fuck them. Why can't they be like Asians?
>>
>>29214127

>>
>>29214016
A "We are watching you, serf" letter.
>>
>>29214124
correct, it's mandatory and spelled out in Penal Code 27565.

form: http://oag.ca.gov/sites/all/files/agweb/pdfs/firearms/forms/curioapp.pdf?

handguns, even if they are C&R must be DROS'd and acquired through a CLFD 01 or 07 FFL first prior to transferring to the 03 FFL. although if you have the COE there is no waiting period and it's exempt from a lot of other things.
>>
>>29214148
Thanks for confirming, anon. A lot of this shit is pretty confusing and I don't want my dogs to get shot. Luckily, I'm not too interested in handguns in general, so I won't have to deal with some of that extra shit.

Now I just have to wait like 3 months.
>>
>>29213997
come to Burbank bro. join us in the creepy 50's esque town
>>
>>29214148
Actually, I have a related question. Penal Code 27565 says "The licensed collector takes actual possession of that firearm outside of this state"

What do I do if I buy a C&R rifle online from out of state? Does that count as "actual possession"? Would I file the in-state or out-of-state form?
>>
>>29210433
Ares SCR. Get a better trigger for it and put an upper on it that isn't total shit and it's a pretty good stand in for an AR15.
>>
>>29210433
Some people will tell you to move. Don't stay there.

OP and most of this thread need to see these videos:
>>29212622

They started shipping the ones with improved triggers mid 2015 and if by chance you buy an old one they will replace the trigger for free.

So...as a Californian, slap on Daniel Defense, BCM or what ever type of upper you like on it so long as it's free floated and has a low profile gas block, or doesn't have a bayonet lug and replace the A2 birdcage with a muzzle break.

AND YOU ARE DONE!

YOU HAVE A SOLID ACCURATE RIFLE AND YOU CAN FINGER THE MAGAZINE CLIT!
