So I got a 9mm, a 10mm (Glock 40, its my problem solver, amirite), and a .45

Are there really any other handgun calibers worth actually owning?

A .380 is worth having.(would highly recommend either a Beretta 70s or one of their Cheeth 86's)

.357(can shoot .38 specials) every gun owner should have one gun, revolver or rifle, that can shoot .357
.44 magnum
.22 plinker
Less today but 45LC is good fun.

>he didn't; get the tactical
Cool fuckup OP.
>>
>>29209452
Why a .357? What does it bring to the table?
.22, meh. Sure its cheap, but so is 9mm

Cowboys are kind of gay

I got my girl a sig p238 in .380.

Realized my mistake. Fortunately for me, I can get my slide cut, change out the sights, and get a threaded barrel.

You're set: 9mm for humans and 10mm for bears.

Supposedly, I am. But I still want one. But I can't get one?

How about a .327 magnum, I don't have to be straight for *that*, right?
>>
Honestly, having owned them all and still owning a .40, to OP's question:

>Handgun calibers worth actually owning
I'd recommend 9mm and .357mag unless it's for brown bear and then get something big.

You can't say either of those are *better-enough*, can you?

The shorter, higher pressure round kind of makes sense, the larger caliber kind of makes sense, but they'd only be interesting enough if they were combined.

So, Glock needs to make a glock in .50 GIP!

.22lr handgun if you like bringing newbies to the range or just blowing holes in things.

.357 if you are interested in wheel guns or potentially have a bear problem, although the .45 and 10mm should cover that.

.223 if you like giving the ATF the middle finger.

357 mag loaded with 125 grain xtp under 27 grains of h110. It feels like someone hit your hand with a shovel and everyone at the firing range jumps when you shoot it. Also, magnificent muzzle flash.

>27gr h110
>max book load 22gr with a 125gr xtp

nigger you crazy some guns will handle a small overload but 5gr is alot over in that size cartridge

Handgun calibers are pretty mediocre in general. Also, terminal performance depends highly on the round (bullet grain, shape, powder, etc), barrel length, and (most of all) accuracy.

I really like my 9x18 double stack cz82 makarov, and use buffalo bore +p cast lead bullets. Have to clean it out after shooting, because fowling of cast lead can eventually cause failure in a polygonal barrel. The extra powder charge requires a higher-tension spring, but the frame can handle it. With a "smaller" round, you may want to choose penetration over expansion.

Many factors, and I'm only talking about one round. Not to even mention tuning the firearm. Caliber wars are usually ignorant polarization.
