do yourself a favor and get something small you can CC.
That way you don't end up like me, and HAVE to buy more guns even though you don't necessarily want to, because the gun you bought can't fill the role of CC.
A cc gun can be fun at the range and a good nightstand gun as well, so it covers all your bases (besides rifle of course).
Get a full size or long arm when you decide your tired of shooting your cc all the time and want something bigger for the range/home defense

Do what I did, Anon. Get a 30-30.
It's what my dad gave me when I was 10.
Is starting with a handgun really a good idea?
If you want a pistol because you want to carry search for something smaller then a Glock 17/18

What counts as a cc?

What do you recommend?
>OP says he's thinking of getting a Glock 18
OP is 12, everyone go home.

Where are you going to get a Glock 18? I assume you mean the 19. It's a good starter gun, good for carry.

I live in yurop, so i cant help you with a ccw handgun.
If you want a rifle i would start with a Ruger 10 22 if you want to have semiautomatic or a lever action rifle

The 18 is the full auto machine pistol version that you only see in movies and video games.
The 17 is the full size pistol, the 19 is far more compact and easy to conceal while only giving up two rounds of capacity. It can also use 17 mags.
Let me put it this way, SOCOM buys the 19.
Get it, get a copy of Kyle Lamb's book Stay In The Fight- A Warrior's Guide to the Combat Pistol, build skills, take a good CCW class, never stop practicing.
There are interesting customizations available.

Is there a waiting period if I go buy it in a store?

Fukin 12 year olds
S&W model 10, 15 or 64 are all great starter guns. Don't know much about Glocks personally but wouldn't mind getting a glock 17 and a SBR conversion kit for one.

currently layaway purchase s&w .357 mag 3" barrel i can't wait.

I'm going to operate under the assumption that you want a pistol.
The Glock 17 is a good gun. Probably my favorite Glock and I don't even really like Glocks. It will serve you well although if you hope to CC then the 19 will serve you better than the 17.
However, I would recommend that you go to your LGS to handle various guns (also look at rifles just in case you find one you really like). I personally find Glock ergonomics to be God awful and uncomfortable. Definitely shop around because you can find comparable options for the same price with better ergos.
If you're not looking for total utility then look into a 1911. Rock Island GI models are supposed to be nice and should make a great range gun for a great price.
Good luck with your first purchase, OP. Welcome to the wonderful world of guns.

For a rifle, throw together a PSA build AR15, for a handgun grab a glock 19 gen 3, for a shotgun, a mossberg 500. Hard to go wrong with any of those for a first, and you won't go bankrupt.
