>SA-18 (Used by the Army)
>DH-5 fragmentation grenade (Local variation of the M67)
>M18 smoke grenade

>M9 Bayonet standard issue bayonet for all branches

Camouflages
>Army uses a local variation of the Finnish M05, some older units use a variation of the Flecktarn pattern
>Marine Corps uses similar digital woodland pattern like the USMC, with a desert and urban variation
>Air force uses more traditional ERDL patterns, both woodland and desert variations
>Navy uses a a blue ERDL pattern while at sea and black & white variation on land
>Special forces share camouflages of the branches they operate with, but use a "chocolate chip" camo

Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is? Insanity is doing the exact... same fucking thing... over and over again, expecting... shit to change. That... is crazy; but the first time somebody told me that... I dunno, I thought they were bullshitting me. The thing is, okay... he was right. And then I started seeing: everywhere I looked, everywhere I looked, all these fucking pricks, everywhere I looked, doing the exact same fucking thing... over and over and over and over again thinking: "This time, it's gonna be different; no, no, no, no, no, please... this time it's gonna be different.

We have standardized about 95% of all the equipment in our inventory, special weapons are so much outnumbered they have little to no logistical issues, though admittedly there are some problems now and then. But nothing that would topple the entire war machine.

I admit, I might be a little insane, if I say so myself. But aren't we all? I mean, this is 4chan, eh?

I'm lazy so I'm going to make it simple.

Sidearms
>Officers only, officers get Glocks because discount, probably a 41 gen 4.

Assault/Battle Rifles
>Beretta ARX-160 for Army, Marine Corps
>G3 for second-line troops
>PSG-1 for DMR/Snipers

Machine Guns
>MG3 and it's family for all MG applications

Explosives
>Tannerite, for shits and giggles. We kill everything with copious amounts of boolits.
>>
>>29151190
Sidearms: Glock 19 for all branches/purposes.
Assault/Battle Rifles: M16A4 for all branches/purposes.
Machineguns: Heavy: M2 .50. General Purpose: M240. Both for all branches/purposes.
Sniper Rifle: M24 or M40, chosen by sniper individually for preference.

Not gonna get into your sperg-level lists of frag grenades and bayonets and camo patterns. The branches will use the same stuff wherever and whenever possible. There's no reason at all why the army and marines and air force should have different sidearms and rifles, for example. Even uniforms should be as standardized as possible, probably field/work/battle dress the same across them all, with only a branch and unit emblems different, aside from very specific job-related differences (I wouldn't expect an air force firefighter to wear the same kit as a navy nuclear reactor technician, of course).

I like the idea of mandatory service/training for a significant time, periodically in a citizen's life. 13 or 14? 6 months of introductory military training and work. 18? A year's basic combat arms (infantry, armor, artillery, etc, decided for you by the military's needs), and then a 2 year stint at 25, more of the same, but intensive and designed to make the recruit at least on par with the new guys coming out of training in countries with volunteer-only, professional armies.

Significant bennies for those who choose to make the armed forces a career AND ARE IN COMBAT ARMS JOBS. You're not going to be a forklift driver or dental hygenist for 20 years and get the same bennies for life a ranger or tank crew member gets.
>>
>>29157743
They were antsympatizers. They got what they deserved.
>>
>handgun
Don't need it.
>rifle
Remington 700 scope/rifle combo, mini 14
>shotgun
Remington 870
>Machine gun
Don't need it, good aim from rifles will solve this
>explosives
Uhh, duh, tannerite and sharpshooter

Why the fuck would we build a military? It's not like the country is invading anyone. Just give the people some shit to shoot at and be happy.
>>
>>29157850
probably a sliding scale of bennies... the forklift guys don't get as much as the guys who are in the field, like water purification specialists or whatever, who don't get as much as the combat arms guys, who don't get as much as the elite combat arms guys. We'd recognize the contributions of those who were in uniform doing important though not risky and not terribly dangerous work, but still provide greater recognition to those who took riskier roles, and also provide incentive to strive to improve oneself and one's contribution.
>>
>>29157877
Not to burst your bubble but you'd be giving the guys who have no or little education more money than the people who probably end up with degrees and become leaders in their field? I mean you definitely should earn some respect and not be fucked over for taking the field jobs but don't shit on the guys laying down the logistics for the grunts. Naw mean?
>>
>>29157873
>some stuff worth thinking about

I recently read Jeff Sharaa's books about the American Revolution. Washington, and his generals, and all the British officers pretty much thought militia was trash, not quite useless--but nearly so. But if you were designing a reserves-dominant army as a purely defensive measure...like, you want to be invasion-proof, but will never entertain the idea of sending troops outside your borders to come into conflict with other countries' armed forces... what's the best way to do it? Like, maybe make mandatory service along the lines of the Swiss? But instead of teaching conventional military training, teach guerilla warfare/insurgant tactics?
>>
>>29157892
I totally understand. But the guys who learn significant skills that translate into good civilian jobs don't NEED the really good bennies from the military--they can leave and get good jobs on the outside. In effect, the guys who become hospital lab techs or can run a network of warehouses or take apart a C130 and reassemble it blindfolded pretty much have their "bennies" built into the job training they have that they can take into the civilian market.
>>
>>29157927
Father-in-law is 26 years Air NG, and he can take apart a C-130 blindfolded at this point. He's getting kicked out for being in too long now and is joining the Post Office because he has no real market after military.
>>
>>29157968
Then I will go out on a limb and speculate that he can't actually do a lot of really serious deep-level mechanical work on large aircraft.
>>
>>29158009
or at least, there's no formal recognition that he can....maybe that's something military work can do--confer college degrees and/or certifications on troops who work in certain jobs a certain amount of time and then pass some exams?
>>
>>29158009
No, there are just no airports anywhere nearby that actually use C-130's or anything similar enough to them that he would be interested in working on. He's done 16 trips to Antarctica because his unit was one of few qualified to do maintenance for the trip. Kind of a strange niche. Plus he gave his kids all his GI bill money so he can't go back to school and he's kinda pissed at himself about that, but... yeah. His own fault there.

>>
>>29158193
I'm not his kid, he didn't do anything for me. I'm saving for a house so he can know his grandchildren are gonna have a good life.

His other daughter is... a fucking idiot. Multiple DUI's, been in jail quite a few times, huge pothead. He's just happy she's actually passing her classes. She's hot though so she got a boyfriend that pays for all of her other shit.
>>
>>29158208
I know you aren't HIS kid but his kids are your step brothers and sisters, if those cockbags aren't willing to help him then you should have. The guy is selfless and did a lot for his family the way it sounds, what a nice way to repay him.
>>
>>29158218
No, he just had no intentions of going to college until the guard said they had to give him the boot due to budget. They were going to lose contract of Antarctica runs every other year and as such were going to decrease staff numbers. He changed his OWN plans because he got re-married (his children are 26 and 23 years old, mind you) and his new wife has 8-year old kids. He's sitting on a good stack of cash, he just doesn't want to move. He's not dying by any means, he's just pissed because he's now considering getting a degree and wished he kept his GI money. That's all.

And if I had spare cash to chip in, I would. I've still got to finish paying off the fucking wedding (in September) before I make plans, and need another 20k saved up until we can get the place that we actually want to live in. I'm already doing everything in my power to get there, he's not out just yet, he could easily get a job in his field if he'd move out of Jew York, he just wanted to keep status quo with his career and didn't want to have to move to do that, so.... USPS is where he's going.
