Just bought 880 rounds of steel core nugget food for $290. How did I do /k/? Also 7.62x54R thread.

Why did u fall for the overpriced rare-ammo meme op?
>>
>>29146201
>o

Either way it's only 32 cents per round. That's better than almost anything you can find now days since surplus has dried up.
>>
>>29146189
most ranges won't let you shoot it
>>
>>29146300

I only shoot innadesert
>>
>>29146326
then you're fine. just don't start a fire. don't want all that sand burning.

Not bad, my last x54r purchase was around 500 rounds for $125 from a facebook listing. That was back in September.

>enfield action
>most part cannot be interchanged from two different generation rifle (and sometimes between two same generation rifles)
>mag is hand fitted; loose it and you are in deep shit to replace it.
>needs fucking headspace parts as ab almost disposable part
>.303 is over .50cents a round
>.303 is more expensive to reload than : x54r, 8mm mauser, 7x57mauser, 7x64,7,5swiss 6.5 carcano; 6.5x55 swede, and it's close to 7,5MAS (french)
> any enfield that is not a fucking Indian .308 or a fake n°5 jungle carbine is ranging in the 500$range when a fucking long branch should be 300$ (i paid mine 250CAD in 2006, and imported it in the US)

superior accuracy : that's why anything remotely used to bench rest or long range shooting is using either a mauser type system or a innovative system such a Tbolt.
>swiss K31 or K11 has been judged more accurate by competitors also.

mad minute : yeah if you don't rimlock, don't fuck shit up with stripper clips and eventually have another mag that fits your rifle you can lay down some firepower, but anyone with a modern mag fed bolt action and a straight pull will outspeed you.

protip I sold my enfield and kept my Ross rifle along with a portuguese k98 a steyr 95, a lebel and my loved K31

Protip II: England is a shit, was a shit and will be a shit (even if brexit happens)

>not enjoying a lee-enfield

>this whole post

seems like you're trying to justify something
>>
>>29146433
what I wanted to justify was :
The enfield system is like most english products (cars/motorbikes/guitars/shotguns) a simple way to feel classy when in reality you are snob.

Enfields+ decent ammo are more accurate than your typical mosin+ spam can but :
Indian surplus .303 is garbage

Swiss rifles are more accurate and their surplus ammo is match grade

thirty years ago enfield were the mosins of milsurp, now their owners thinks it's some kind of superior quality.
>>
>>29146300
Well most ranges are fucking gay
>>
>>29146485
most ranges don't want you to start a fire and burn their shit down.
>>
>>29146189
Has anyone actually used up an entire 880 round crate with one Mosin?
>>
>>29146564
>start a fire
Nice meme.
>>
>>29149246
You've obviously not shot steel very often. I've started fires before at my backyard range.
Granted, I had a phone book directly behind my steel and that's what started.
>>
>>29146189
Sucks that surplus is around .30 cents a round now. Last month, I found a spam can at a gun show for $110 (bought a nice m39 from the guy for $270 too) and got around 400 loose rounds and like 15 stripper clips from some college kid for $110.
>>
M91/30s also make great boar hunting guns.

Just put the bayonet on and you have a spear that can kill boars from 1 to 800 m.

Yuropoor here, wanting to finally become hasgunz.
I need your wisdom /k/.
I'd love to get an SVT40, but is that big cartridge ok for an absolute beginner?
What price should I expect for a good one?
They seem to be around 450/500 yurodollars around here.
Anything else in the same price range I should consider?

Bumping with sexy pic from Wikipedia because mobile

Canuck here, I have an SVT. I personally don't have a lot of trouble handling the recoil of an SVT, I find it bumps up quite a bit but the muzzle brake really helps with felt recoil, even when shooting it for extended periods it hardly bugs me. That being said though, like almost any /k/ommando will tell you, I'd start with something in .22 LR first.

As for price, I may not be in Europe but our own prices are slowly increasing to nearly that these days, mainly because Ukraine hasn't been selling them to us like they used to as much. Overall, I'd say they're a rifle that's probably worth that, but I'm still glad I bought mine when they were $299. It also does depend on what you consider good, for example mine isn't beautiful, and is electro stenciled all over the fucking place, but happened to be really accurate at fifty yards, I haven't gotten to try it out further yet but I think it's excellent for a surplus rifle so far. If you want an externally beautiful rifle you might end up paying a bit more, unless you can go to a store and scan through their selection and pick out the best one.

Also without knowing what your choices are in Europe in that price range, I can't really offer any insight going that way. The last piece of advice is also to make sure to get a gas adjustment tool, those things are almost a requirement to the system, and that goes double if your adjustment is a stiff pain in the ass like mine, even pliers with paper towel beneath couldn't budge that bastard after it sat in oil for two days so I had to pick one up.
>>
>>29149246
my range almost got shut down because a guy started a fire with steel core ammo.

>32 cents per round for nugget food

Dear lord has it gotten that bad?
>>
>>29155926

Yep, all the surplus has dried up. It's extremely hard to find spam cans now. The steelcore stuff I just bought was $145 per can. I don't shoot my nuggets as much, but I still want to have a reserve of the stuff.
>>
>>29146479
>Swiss rifles are more accurate and their surplus ammo is match grade
what surplus ammo lol, it's all prvi partizan these days
>>
>>29146201
did anyone actually call it AP?
>>
>>29157732
Jesus. $145? I guess that isn't terrible I've seen people asking $175 a can. But still.... Shit I bought a crate at $79.99 a can just 6 months ago
>>
>>29159109
Well, now that I think if it it was like 8-9 months ago but seriously....
>>
>>29159113
Back in September they were going for $99 a can. Then a month later everyone ran out. There hasn't been any new shipments since unfortunately. I've heard speculation that a lot of the old milsurp is being piped into the middle east too.
