There's a small company in Florence, South Carolina that is going to start making the AutoMag again, in a slightly modified form. It's called the AutoMag X and will be chambered for the .44 AMP catridge.

hopefully it shows up in deathwish 6
>>
>>29119913
Neat. I wonder if these are Gera's improvements or something else entirely.

I know a crusty old fudd who owns one, and I have to say its a better shooter than it looks. Also, aren't there carbine conversions for these?
>>
Would be interested if the price is reasonable.
Automag is still one of the sexiest pistols ever.
>>
>>29119913
Damn it. I wanted to make a new automag.

Well the market is still open for one that takes regular .44 mag instead of needing to use AMP.
>>
AHHHHHHHHHHH OH MY GOD

OH MY GOD

IF THEY MAKE A 44 MAG VERSION I'M GONNA SHIT MYSELF

So much for saving up for a SCAR
>>
>>29119913
It'd be cool if they made a Clint Eastwood commemorative gun.
>>
>>29121343
.44 AMP is pretty much .44 Magnum redesigned to fire from an automatic pistol.
>>
>>29123381
I remember seeing a supercut a while back of all the kills that Kersey got in the Deathwish series. For whatever reason the giggler's death was left out though. "They got the giggler, man! THEY GOT THE GIGGLER! *snooort*"

Keep in mind that this was 10 years before the Desert Eagle was introduced.

quick lets bubbafy it!
>>
>>29123476
Urge to get a pirate holster bandolier with deagle, automag, wildey, and grizzly intensifies.

An automag carbine might be sweet. Wildey ones used to be made and there's one or two obscure desert eagle ones.

The grip would have to be just as big as a Desert Eagle's to accommodate the rimmed cartridge.
>>
>>29125545
I'd rather have it in 357 than special snowflake 44amp

>>29125545
I just wanna point out that's mostly horseshit
>>
>>29125595
It's not. Being rimmed, the .44 RemMag requires a specific mag shape and thus a specific grip frame.
>>
Finally, time to remove creep.
>>
>>29125625
Not one that outlandishly huge.
>>
Probably too soon to hope, but if they enjoy success with this model I hope they produce some Automag IIIs as well.
>>
>>29126011
What we do know is they'll be using the design the original engineer came up with, not the rushed jam-o-matic thing the autismo owners made.

They have nearly identical case heads, so you might have been able to handload 44 AMP from either, but I'm just going from memory here.

It does. The nose of the .44 cartridge is held centered in the Desert Eagle while the end of the cartridge is staggered widely to offset the size of the rim. Desert Eagle .357 and .44 Magnum magazines are like way oversized .22lr magazines. Ironically, the grip didn't have to be that large for .50AE, but the .50AE cartridge was invented after the initial development of the MkI series, which was always meant to be able to be upgunned from .357 to .44.

The huge size of the Desert Eagle magwell means that if MRI ever decided to chamber the Desert Eagle in one of the rimless automagnum cartridges, such as 10mm Magnum or .45 Winchester Magnum, or even .44AMP, it would have a fairly decent capacity double stacked magazine. Just goofing around with .40S&W cartridges in .50AE magazines, I've gotten 18 rounds in. For that matter, standard 10mm would probably have the gas volume to run the gas system since its comparable to .357 Magnum in chamber pressure. The only obstacle would be the short length of the cartridge compared to the the other three the Deagle is chambered in.
>>
>>29125595
That rim is a much bigger deal than you think. Stacked vertically without the side to side staggering of the rear of the cartridge. Would require a fairly curved magazine that would not fit in the grip frame magwell. As it is, the feed angle of the .44 and .357 magazines compared to the rimless .50AE is fairly high.
>>
>>29129056
Actually its design was based on a modified 8mm Mauser case, but since most of /k/ doesn't know shit about anything I'll let you be stupid.

10mm, 44mag, 50 ae, 357 mag, I'd literally rather have it in any high power pistol cartridge other than 44amp.

Vidyao for you all.

Thanks. I was trying to visualize how a short recoil action would work with an internal rotating bolt. Seeing the gun broken down and how the barrel moves a short distance back to unlock the bolt before the bolt fully recoils makes it clear. Very elegant design.
>>
They should make one in .30 carbine, AMT did that with the later phukugly slide gun but not the sexy as fuck early version.
>>
>>29133310
that is literally what short recoil means
>>
>>29133415
I know, but not seeing the way the gun was put together, I didn't realize the barrel moved a short distance back to allow the bolt to rotate and unlock. I thought the barrel was fixed, like the Wildey and Desert Eagle, which are both gas operated with fixed barrels. Seeing that the barrel moves slightly and the internal bolt recoils fully instead of the tilting barrel external slide short recoil action made it clear to me how the gun actually functions.
>>
There's a used one at my nearest gunshop. It's in mediocre shape, one mag, and they still want $4600 for it.
>>
>>29134813
i wouldn't buy it unless it was used in the assassination of ghadafi.
>>
>>29134813
The new makers say they're gonna try to get it within 3000 which is still expensive but a MUCH better deal

If they chamber this in 357, 10mm, 44 or 50 I'll buy one right now.

I got mine for $900 with the original case and paperwork. There are plenty for sub $1500 out there to be found with a bit of patience.
