I never noticed the wind-up action on the side, is there a music box that plays god save the queen or something?
>>

It doesn't count if your country thinks you're too irresponsible to own one.

If we're going with whatever "rifle" then it's the STG-44 with the FG-42 as a runner up. If bolt action only it's the Swiss K31 with the Swedish Mauser as a runner up.
>>
>>29078711
They actually can, it's just converted to manual straight pull and wont cycle on its own.

Also curious. Is there anywhere you can get Ishapores these days besides Gunbroker?
>>
Every smle I've had the opportunity to finger fuck were roached out and had sloppy actions. Are enfields actions loose normally?
>>
>americans get triggered
>"ur gun laws!!"

Nice try faggots

Also the STG44 was ok, later Assualt Rifles majorly improved its system hence Bolt actions replacement.
>>
>>29078863
I've tried two SMLEs and one Mk4, one SMLE was loose and the MK4 was loose but the other SMLE was god tier
>>
>>29078895
I've always wanted one, the design is pretty cool. But that design doesn't lend itself to high round count resilience.
>>
>>29078589
Only we had it, so euroshits are envious
>>
>>29078453
I actually own a MK.3 and it's definitely my favourite rifle.

I have a small collection of historical firearms that are legal in the UK (I want a PPSH-41 so bad but that shits illegal) so I've got a nugget, Lee MK. 3, M1911 and a M1. The Mk. 3 is a beautiful and amazing bit of kit and it's probably the easiest to handle out of my lot as well but I want to try and find a old snipers scope for it

Assuming we talk about the best standard issue rifle of World War 2 and for example best sniper rifle IMO the best rifle was obviously Stg 44. Not only was it the first assault rifle ever issued in any real numbers, but it was the most effective standard issue service rifle issued by end of World War 2. Both Lee-Enfield and Garand loose in firepower by significant margin and were at the same time heavier and more cumbersome to use. I got a chance to test Stg 44 last year and the design is surprisingly good.

I found an even better rifle then! It meets all of your criteria.
>>
>>29078509
You can still own them. You can't own semi auto rifles or any pistol (apart from in n Ireland )
>>
>>29078863
A lot of the lm are very old and have been really heavily used.
>>
>>29078453
First off, that's a Rifle No. 1, MkIII. By WWII, the rifle the British used was the Rifle No. 4. Lighter weight stock, none of that volley sight or magazine cutoff crap.

Second, yes, the Garand was the best rifle of the war with maybe the Stg. 44 coming in second if only for late entry in low numbers.

Semi-auto fire with the recoil of the full-power cartridge being soaked up by the gas system was a HUGE boon to soldiers. Yes, the en block clip was a deficiency, but it worked. There's a reason why it stuck around into the late '60s and was used as the basis for the M14 (not to mention a lot of other rifles).

Best bolt action gun of WWII? Yes, probably a Lee Enfield, but the No. 4, not the No. 1 Mk. III, faggot.
>>
>>29078453
2/10 b8 but the Garand was better.
>>
>>29078453
Garand or the StG44.
Semi-auto is just outright superior to bolt action, I don't see how a bolt action would be superior to the Garand unless the Garand could only fire twice before breaking apart

Not my post, but many (including as Markku Palokangas in his works) consider Häyhä's rifle to be early version m/28-30, which still had m/28 type front sight...

First test series of m/28-30 rifle was manufactured in spring of 1932, while they were still being tested parts for first order of 2,700 rifles were ordered from Sako in May of 1932. Simo Häyhä's rifle belonged to that production batch. Final blueprints for the new front sight design were completed in October of 1932 and was named as sight m/32. Those 2,700 rifles mentioned earlier got delivered by April of 1934. The second batch ordered in September of 1933 already had the new front sight.
>>
>>29080774
A rather respected collector in Finland after looking through the archives finds that Simos issue rifle was still a M28 that in 1933 had been upgraded with the M/32 rear sight but was not upgraded to M28/30 standards.
