Dont know if that picture belongs to OP BUUUUT

1) Dont talk to people who aren't trustworthy about your guns or gun collection. Keep that shit on the D/L. Guns are expensive, and while KNOWING a person has an arsenal is a massive deterrant to trying to HARM that individual all a person needs to do is wait for you to leave your house and then they know they have a payday.

2) make sure the rest of your house isn't protected by Kwikset tier garbage locks. Get good locks and reinforced door jambs.

3) get a security system. You dont need ADT or some other scam company charging you out the nose for their monitoring anymore. An audible alarm alone will make a robber more likely to run or not tale the time to literally cut through a safe and there are a host of DIY security systems that can send an alert to your cell phone that someone has entered your home.

A shit safe in the middle of your Mogadishu tier shit apartment wont stop Jamal if you have been telling anyone who will listen about your new 3000 dollar 7mm gun with Zeiss glass.

>Looks like someone didn't OpSec
A new manager at work, on his first day introduced himself to the shift. "I like to hike, fish, hunt, and shot, I love shooting. Got quite the big collection and I love sniper rifles." Or something like that. I'd say a third of the people working there are excons or undesirables from the bad parts of town working this lowpaying warehouse gig.

Dude's from SC so it wouldn't surprise me if he thought it was normal. My bet is him got robbed withing the month.

That's why you don't buy a $1200 browing safe and expect it to be burglar resistant. Id love to know the tool rating for that safe. Probably only rsc.

Shit tier browning gun locker. Looks at that door, super thin metal (12g at best) sandwiching some insulation.

Probably not a pro job as the door is the toughest part, sidewalls are probably just a single layer of thin metal that can be cut near silently with a big pair of snips.

>living in a place where a gun safe is necessary

This is the first mistake. Move out to the proper country area of your state, where the people are cornfed, not meth heads.
>>
>>28905708
Reminder: The best safe is the one the perp's cant actually find.

After we redid our kitchen I had fit a medium sized gun locker in the empty space where my old fridge was recessed into the wall. It is obscured by a wine rack, which slides out for gun access.

Also remember Opsec. Loose lips get guns stolen. People know you have guns and you might as well have told them you have a vault of solid gold bricks.

And when you post pictures online on various forums, most cameras and phones encode GPS location/geotags.

Also. If you own guns. INVEST IN A FUCKING HOME SECURITY SYSTEM.

Something that will alert you AND the police when you are not home and a window or door is broken into.

Another great security system is a Dog. A large or medium sized dog. I have four Dutch shephards and they hold the fort when I am not home.

Also, keep the obligatory handgun under your pillow/in the nightstand, with a pistol light. Because when people come in your home to take your guns, they will be armed themselves. Guns are a hot item and worth killing over.

What? I lived in both rural places and metro areas only place my house was ever broken into was in the country. There's a ton of crime in the country because they know police will take 45 minutes to respond and they're more likely to go break into houses because a country house is more likely to have a gun than a city house. that's my take anyways

The damage was done by a Flex not by an Acetelentorch. The white ressidue is metal dust. And it seems the door is hollow. A good safe has concrete in it or special fibers that entangle rotor blades. Against torches and thermolances a thin aluminium sheet is embeded into the door. If the flame touches the alu , it willvaporize and kill the torch operator. So this is a shit safe and i would have cut the hinges of the door. Easiest way....source: been there , done that.

That's why I said 'proper', my man. I don't want to hear about how you lived out in the sticks with trailer trash meth heads and they broke into your house.

Also, if the neighbors aren't close enough, then you just set up the tripwire shotguns and bury the bodies when you get home from work.

If you use a thermal lance it super heats the AL and turns it into a mist of aluminium droplets that are around 2000F when the jet spurts back out the hole. If the jet misses the operator he is basically inhales red hot particles which is kinda a bad time.
A respirator or mask won't help since the particles will melt the filter fibers and burrow right through in a few breaths. This is why thermal lance operators try to be a good 15+ feet away and have a closed loop respirator or positive air supply when working indoors.

Once I buy a house the first things I'm putting in it are a security system and a reinforced concrete room with an armored door in the basement to keep my guns in. The room will have cameras as well.

Until then I keep my firearms in a stack on gun safe in my closet (bolted down) in my first floor apartment. I fucking hate the safety aspect of keeping firearms here... A small prybar is all it would take.

>>
How to protect your stuff.

1. Insurance
Be sure to keep an accurate record so you can get your claims filed... preferably not in the safe.
2. Alarm
The best safes for plebs are lucky if they can last an hour against tools. You need someone to check to stop a thief.
3. Cameras
Up to you how you want it connected knowing that they are notoriously unsecure. But being able to get an alert on your phone and look for yourself remotely is a great asset.
4. Dogs
Thieves hate dogs.
5. The safe
It is the last thing you should buy. Bolt it down. Don't put tools close to it. Heavy gauge steel, not thin metal over drywall like firesafes. Hidden is better, but remember that closets, attics and beds are not going to stop the rest of the ship in your house from being stolen. Which is why the other options are important.

Most policies don't give a shit about all the measures you took to keep it safe. But if you have the proper documentation as to
what it is
>make model color year features
Where you got it from
>purchase receipt, paper trail, emails from seller
and other specifics
>serial number, photos, photos, photos,

You'll have an easier time with the insurance man. I get really tired of morons telling me they have no idea what they had or blatently lying about it forcing me to call them out on their lack of documentation. False wall in a closet, the bathroom closet is best because most thieves never give it a second glance. In my bathroom there is a triangular hollow from where the stairwell into the basement leads. It looks like a piece of the architecture but in actuality it was cut too high and nobody really notices. On one side there is a small gap between the wall, floor, and rest of the structure. Sticking a small pry bar underneath this gap I can pull out the section of the wall I had hollowed out. It's like a hidden drawer only filled with valuable documents, items, and funs. It's not very large though, and I can only fit about 5-6 rifles in there, though I only have 2 and a shotgun there atm. If you looked at it you would just think whoever designed my house is a fucking retard, and it's generally covered by a small wardrobe for towels and laundry. I keep my ammo stored seperately since I live in a commie state and nigger incursions are a very real possibility.

The best thing to keep in mind is that thieves check the obvious spots last, not first. The smaller the better, anything larger than a set of golf clubs will arouse some kind of suspicion to anyone that passes by or see's them. A dummy safe is also a good idea if you wanna store shit in the walls since that will usually be their main focus if and when they find one.
>>

This guy again

Check your policies; most have a hard limit on fire arms, usually somewhere around $2500 or $5000 unless you buy a separate policy for your guns.

Say the worst happens; your house burns down or jamal relieves you of your second amendment rights, you are limited to that and theres nothing you can do. Its for everything involved, ammo, guns, and just about anything else solely for guns.

Check your coverage, up your limits if possible, document the hell out of everything including your ammo counts, and buy a specific policy for the guns if you have a large collection.

two purposes, main reason for such a cheap safe is to keep guns away from kids in the house and low level smash and grab burglars.

If you want moderate protection in a safe it will cost you at least $5,000. Good protection starts around $10,000.

If you want high level protection add a zero or two to that figure. 100,000-1,000,000+ range you are getting into bank tier security where you are making a room in your house into a literal bank vault.

Fun part about that is it can still be beaten given enough time and equipment so you reach a point in safe construction cost where 24 hour armed guards become more cost effective, then its a question of how many and you add in the risk of them turning against you.

Its kind of hard to do that considering back in '07 IL didnt have CCW, and this was in a crowded intersection full of witnesses.

Totaled means the cost to repair the vehicle was higher than 75% book value. If you take the full book value they keep the car and scrap it. You are typically allowed to purchase the car back for the difference in the book value. Get a lawyer and cease communication with the insurance company.

I said they couldn't keep the wrecked vehical. I was going to drop it off in my grandma's garage and buy another, keep it around to pull parts off of as most of the removable body panels and all of the power train was still good.

>>28909078
Pretty much.
>>
>>28909091
No thats not how the law works. If they pay for something, anything of any age, it becomes their property. You MAY elect to buy it back from them for salvage value. So if they pay you $5k for the car, you want to keep it for $2500, they would pay you $2500 overall and you keep the car.

If the insurance company is saying the repair shop began repairs, ask for a copy of the signed authorization to begin repairs. If they cannot produce that, then its their problem not yours or the insurance.
>>
>>28909091
It happens a lot, my Uncle used to own a body shop. My friend currently owns a body shop.

Insurance claim agents have one job: pay you as little as possible to shut you up. If you are ever in an accident again
1. Always get a police report
2. If you have a body shop you trust tell the tow driver to bring it there
3. Never take the first offer, "Nah, I should probably talk to a lawyer"
4. You are negotiating payment for your wrecked vehicle, rental cars and storage fees are covered no matter what
5. Tell them to mail you the check
6.If it's not worth keeping, just take the money and run
7. If it's totaled and you want to keep it either shop around for the best repair price or tell them to tow it to your house, they will cover this as well, pay nothing
8. The only repairs you really need are what makes it pass state inspection, everything else is optional

For example, say you are hit on the front end of your car and damage is to the headlamp assembly, fender, hood and bumper cover.
Estimate to repair all damage comes to $2500
You find a headlamp assembly with bulbs for $150 from a local junkyard
Tell insurance company to tow car to your house. They owe you $2500 because that is the value of the damage, tell them to mail you that check.
Purchase the headlamp assembly, hammer fender out, install headlamp assembly, keep rest of money as remuneration for driving fucked up car.

This.

Keep in mind though, that if there's a lien on your vehicle, your lienholder will require that it gets restored to pretty much the same condition it was in prior to the accident.

Also look into a diminished value claim. Certain states don't allow this, so you'll have to check.

Diminished value claims basically determine how much you would've been able to sell the car for prior to the accident, and how much you'll be able to sell it after the accident, and they cut you a check for the difference.

This only works if the car is not totaled. Don't ask the insurance company about this, cause they'll lie out the ass to avoid paying you anything.

Get any info you want from Collison Claim Associates.

You might still be able to file for one depending on how long ago the accident occurred. Florida, for instance, gives you 4 years to file one from the date of the accident.

And don't let the insurance company try and tell you that they only have to pay if you sell the vehicle, cause that's bullshit.
>>

I'm thinking about doing that, and then installing some smaller, more discreet cameras. Seems like it's worth it. The idea of having my guns get stolen makes me sick to my stomach, all I have is a shitty steel stack-on cabinet.

The gravel wars were a dark, dark time for my impreza. I ended up showing their landlord the proof, and he gave them the choice to either pay for the damages or he was gonna evict their ass and use their rent money for it.

They got evicted.

That's a pretty garbage safe tho. You can see the composite front door revealed by the cut, it's 16 gauge sheet metal sandwiched over foam or drywall. Pic not related, this is three layers of 10 gauge steel, much thicker but still not adequate. A cordless diamond bladed circular saw could have gotten into that safe even faster and more easily.

This is why you do not buy composite doors, or at least stick to composite doors with heavy steel panels at LEAST 1/4" thick, preferably 3/8"+.

Required watching:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltK-bDbADa8

Don't buy a cheap safe unless your goal is just to keep children out. No serious thief is going to be deterred by sheet steel.

Why do people buy locks for their houses?
How much money did you spend on or house in the first place?

Just hiding the fucking thing behind some tall grass would be better than a safe
>>
>>28906706
A $1200 dollar safe is an expensive gun locker and/or fire resistant box. The facto f the matter is many people know fuck all about safes and see one with a big thick door and big bolts and think it's good. What they don't know is the lock is shit and the construction is of thin steel and hollows to make it look thicker and sturdier than it is. They also don't know about security ratings or that fire ratings are more or less meaningless as there is no proscribed method for testing like tool ratings. So you get companies that capitalize on this and sell what looks like a good sturdy safe with a reputable name slapped on it and few details about the construction shared other than marketing points like thick 12ga construction! They are simultaneously marketing to acrowd that doesn't know what is good and isn't and influencing their perception of what is good.

I can't even remember seeing a tl rated safe a cabelas.

There is a lot to picking a very secure safe and because I'm no expert and I'm still researching and trying to find the best bang for my buck I haven't bought one yet.

You also need to have proper expectations set when you go buying. Do you need a safe to withstand a nuclear blast or really something to keep your guns and your birth certificate protected from a smash and grab burglery or a house fire that the fire department responds to in 10 min. To me high security is appealing but i think more realistic of a concern for most people is fire resistance.

Dude.

Let me dawn something on you.

American house physical security sucks. You don't need to break the lock if you can break the door or the window.

>get a security system.
Now you're talking. But this is complicated, too. Modern security systems are wireless and can easily be jammed. Older security systems... why do you need to defeat a door or window sensor if, having just a stud finder, you can cut the fucking stucco wall out and carry most of the shit out of the house through that hole without the alarm being ever tripped?

Real security is expensive. Pick your battles.

I'd start with finding a good neighborhood, preferably with a lot of paranoid work-from-home or retired security conscious neighbors that would call police if the mailman sneezes the wrong way. Bonus, they'll operate their security cameras for your benefit, for it indirectly impacts theirs.

That doesn't look very safe.

I wonder how big of an explosively formed penetrator you would need to make a hole in a little bitty safe like that.

Or hell, could you just shoot it instead?

>bolt together
Nigger are you joking?
>>
>>28916874
Nope. No idea how they're put together, but if they're designed right, bolts are not load bearing. I didn't have a chance to see the actual product, hence the question.

You clearly don't know shit. All the hinges do is hold the door on when it's open. You've got bars that don't actuate on the side where the hinges are, they fall behind the threshold while you're closing it, then the bars that do actuate on the opposite side. The bars hold the door on. Cut the bars or cut the lock and actuate the bars. Only way to open it.

Nothing is safe.

I live in STL... well... JefCo, but unincorporated Eureka (which is St. Louis County. It's complicated). Downtown is a terrible place. Living inside the 270/170 loop is asking to get robbed, and crossing the river is asking to get jacked/killed. It's just a bad plan. I know people that have been pulled over by cops because, and I quote "You have no business being here" (aka being white). They were then escorted by cops with lights on to the nearest highway ramp.

Granted, I deal with white trash and methheads and stuff, but at least they won't attack me for being 'in the wrong part of town.'

Rolla, I'm guessing. If you're in STL it could be Rankin, but you're prolly Rolla.

I personally haven't seen a browing safe I was very impressed by. I'm intrigued by the sturdy safes posted here earlier and I've been intrigued by sportsman steel safes but both require more research. I have also yet to see an amsec safe the impresses me but that seems to be the brand all the locksmiths in my area reccomend.

My budget swings between $3k and $10k depending on how much security I think I need at a given time.
>>28916680
A friend of mine has one. He likes it and fits his needs as he will be moving frequently over the next few years. Personally I'm not very impressed by their protection level.

Most gun-specific insurance doesn't require itemizing your weapons unless the value of a gun rises above a certain threshold, then you have to provide specifics for that gun.

A collection of Hi-Points and Nuggets will not be a problem.

I would think they would need a good reason to be in your house for two hours - they know for a damn fact you've got Good Shit and know for a damn fact you're not going to be there for an extended period of time.

Was trying to buy one of those tables. Was thinking about putting my rarely used long arms in it. Nothing really valuable because no fire resistance. With a table cloth on it someone would have to be in on the secret.

Why not make one?

>They also don't know about security ratings or that fire ratings are more or less meaningless as there is no proscribed method for testing like tool ratings.
Are you really this retarded?

And regarding fire ratings, UL is again well known for providing these kinds of certification services.

>An audible alarm alone will make a robber more likely to run or not tale the time to literally cut through a safe

You can buy a security camera system at Costco for like $800. It holds 2TB of footage and includes 6 cameras. Just seeing those cameras is a huge deterrent.

Also I recommend a glass break sensor near large windows. As soon as it hears the sound of glass breaking it alarms. They cost like $40 each and can be used in conjunction with your existing security system.
>>
>>28905800

This. People won't hesitate to buy 5 ARs yet they think a big box store "safe" if sufficient for their funs.

All a safe does is buy you time. Even real jewelry safes that have a TL-30 safes only slow someone down.

Buy a higher end gun safe with at least a 7GA body and put it in a corner of your foundation. Higher end safes have multiple relockers, hardened drill plates, 1 1/2 bolts all around and doors with at least 1/2" steel overall. Bolt it to the foundation. Pour a concrete, rebar reinforced wall on the other side. Consider a beat up old used dummy safe loaded with lead ingots that they could waste their time on.

A DVR camera system and an alarm are a huge deterrent. You will have false alarms, but you can remote in and check your shit from your phone if needed. Know your neighbors and have their phone numbers. Buy good homeowners or gun insurance. High end safes come with lifetime burglary insurance that cover the cost of replacing the safe.

They will try to move it first, then attack the lock, then try to cut it and lastly torch it. If you have a decent safe, good location and a good alarm system, they simply won't have the time to do much of anything let alone move your stuff.

Lastly, consider ninja traps. A raspberry pi with a solid state relay can shut off the mains power in your house. With the security and alarm system running on battery backup, they will be in a completely dark room with no use of power tools while the police are already dispatched.

Best theft protection for guns is to either have none or cheap jamal tier shit. I'm with you dude!
>>
>>28919145
How fucking stupid are you?
>buy 10K worth of shit it'll save you hurr hurr

The best defense is opsec. Not letting people know you even own shit is a great start. Don't the faggot who talks about guns at work.

Try hiding that shit out of the way, and combining it with a loud alarm system. NO thief is going to spend 20 min torching your safe when a 120 dB alarm is blaring

Also try not living in the fucking ghetto. White, gated communities are best.

>>28913883
>To me high security is appealing but i think more realistic of a concern for most people is fire resistance.
Or just live in a fireproof home... Short of pouring gasoline around around the house, you can't really have a fire in a concrete/ICF house.

I have the good guns in a safe behind a false wall in the basement. I also have a cheap ass shotgun by the door and a cheap ass Taurus pistol laying out. Someone wants a gun they'll grab those.

I never tell people just how many guns I have or everything that I own. Then again, I live so far out in the country the only thing that tends to get stolen is the gas can for my lawnmower.

The stereotype that burglars are all stupid nigger crackheads couldn't be more wrong and is perpetuated by people who have never been burgled.

They're often niggers, and often crackheads, but stupid thieves don't typically don't stay free after their first theft. There are stupid ones, but chances are the one that comes for your shit is going to smarter at stealing shit than you are at protecting it. They know what to take, they know where you're likely to keep it, they know the best times to rob you, and they know how likely you are to be worth the trouble.

Imagine you're poor, have no job prospects to speak of, and the questionable ethics of theft mean absolutely nothing to you. Then imagine you have nothing but all the time in the world to figure out how to steal, and if you do get caught, they'll just send you to a place where all these qualities are assets AND is full of people with nothing but time who will happily teach you to be a better thief for this or that favor. It doesn't take a generally smart person to burgle, it just takes someone who knows about burgling.
>>
>>28920139
Also, I should mention that I didn't really catch on to this until my apartment was burgled.

Definitely the more livable option, but you can always just have faux walls/frame if you need to mount things.
I'm just a college fag, but it doesn't hurt to plan for the future.
